It seems the DZP mags have an additional two ribs in the front. If you look at the MK1 magwell you'll see where these are. This is why Nerf and offbrand mags fit in the MK1 but the DZP mags won't normally fit in a Nerf blaster without removing those ribs. Might be some attempt to keep out of legal trouble?
How about the 3d printed mag adaptors? Woody7070 on thingiverse who made the wp-15m has a talon/ katana mag adaptor its possible this would have cross compatibility issues as well if could test this would be fantastic.
So after testing this further. It does not work by just removing the front tabs on the DZP mags alone. The mag does not line up with the four guide rails on a standard Nerf mag well and it is slightly thicker as well. It seems they have made a system that can take cross compatible mags, but their own mags, likely for licensing reasons are not cross compatible.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT that wouldn't be too hard as it's almost a fit for the katana adapter. I got it to for, but it's just very tight so a slightly looser adapter would work.
Fantastic results for the conditions. Glad we'll have 2 solid dart choices on the market soon. Well atleast in the US, for now. Hopefully DZ will make the bamboo darts/mags/blasters available internationally soon after the releases. Thanks for the excellent review as always!
Nice review. In my testing I found worker darts where a bit more accurate. But was blowing off heads of half of them. While bamboo darts never lost a head. I agree it will depend on cost moving forward.
Also I haven't figured out how to make the mags work with other blasters yet. I've heard people shave down the outer edge and they will work. Mostly the dzp mags in other adapters.
I started cutting my adventure force darts to 38mm and I swear there a bit more accurate and hit a bit harder. It's by a slim margin but its there. Problem with these here is price! I'd like to see the gen 3 workers vs gen 1 and gen 2!
Coming back to this for another watch to see if I was remembering right, but what are your thoughts on the stability in flight on the dzp darts? Compared to the workers, which tend to more often have an arc or loop to them relatively consistently when fired, the dzp darts seem to jitter around a fair amount, which just seems less consistent to me in actual game use. Granted they did hit the target, it just didn't inspire me with confidence.
The DZPro darts did have more of a random spiral flight characteristic to them than the Worker Gen 3 darts did. Both hit the target and did so fairly equally well but for stability I'd give it to Worker.
I still have them, just don't use them. They were handy when making my own darts before Gen 3 came out due to the badly glued heads that would just pull off.
Hey, I'm trying to replace the barrel in my Dart Zone Max Striker with something more accurate. I tried 17/32 brass and that won't fire Dart Zone Max half-length darts, (the ones that comes with) reliably. Will worker gen 3s or bamboos shoot through 17/32 brass?
I'll choose one, or the other based on total price of shipping, and darts. Currently I'm waiting on a TC to be finished, so finding out they're both accurate with a scar is great! I'm leaning towards the Bamboo cause I already have the DZPro, but living in the US I still wanna choose the most economical option.
Maybe try to shape the Worker dart into a bamboo shape. I have seen a accessory either resin or aluminum to make 2 or 3 rings on the short dart. Then do another target comparison of regular Worker and Worker with modified bamboo shape.
how well do the bamboo darts work in flywheelers, like your fdl-3 for say? Enjoyed the video comparing the 2 darts. I personally never found a reason to start using short darts but after purchasing a dzp i might invest enough to have for competitive play. Enjoyed the results you got an i think its good there is another option for short darts on the market. Yes, it may not be for everyone but what is these days. i find just fork out the money to use the bamboo darts instead of buying worker darts. Have a good Bradley Philips and keep it up.
Another great Vid, Interesting results just got my first dart zone pro to fire workers reliably using a bit of right stuff permatex gasket maker to improve the seal (worked wonders for either the plastic or metal barrel) and as soon as my new prophecy parts come in I will turn my second Dart Zone pro into a BEAST, Btw just yesterday I got an Omega kit for my a thrifted Long Shot, using the included 16kg spring at first I was getting around 220-230fps but then after a few mags it was down to 190-200 I think it might be the lube I used what kind of lube do you use on you Omega X Zues 2
Very interesting test, though I'm not that surprised by the results. Also, I love that your process is highly repeatable and through. As someone who has yet to get into high-FPS springers or even springers in general, price will definitely be the deciding factor for me when I do get around to it (I have a Longshot ready to accept a kit or a Tri-strike that I might try to go nuts with :D). The two darts are just so close in performance numbers that there is no reason to choose one over the other based on that.
Hmm, so the interesting bamboo shape doesn't seem to do much, unless it's compensating for strange aerodynamics of the head that we can't see like this. The bamboo heads seem to stretch more when you're pulling them off, are they softer in impact? Might be a fun experiment to switch some of the heads around to see if that does anything. Nice test work, good to know.
I think the difference comes down to consistency, if the diameters are slightly different, the coefficient of friction from a theoretical stand point would be much closer in the Bamboo darts over the worker darts, thus making velocity much more consistent.
Worker darts are hot garbage out of the box. The foam is bad, half of them blow heads, and are kind of a pain in the ass. That being said, they're way cheaper than bamboo darts, so I'd say they're worth it if you're willing to take the time to put the heads on better foam with better glue. Otherwise, I'll stick to bamboo darts for the most part.
Can do that at some point in the future, I'd have to guess AF will still be better due to the diameter of the dart tip being grabbed by the flywheels better but we'll see.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT true, but if Dart Zone charge the same competitive rate with Bamboo as they do with AF darts then for me, they've cornered the market on darts for both springers and flywheels. I wonder how long before we see chinese nock offs.
I think for a cohesive loadout a lot of people just take the accuracy hit with their flywheeler by using what their springer fires anyway. I've been using workers in my FDL-3 lately just so I don't need to carry 2 dart types on me.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT agreed. I think I might be willing to go back to more dump pouches and differently coloured talon mags fot two dart types to retain accuracy across the board in a game. Having said that I am also transtioning to full hpa, sniper and pistol. A side note I know hpa is big in Australia, we've never seen you mention it. Is it restricted in your part or do you have no interest, if so why?

@@OCNerf darn, that sucks. I'm sure someone will make a compatible 3D printed magwell but for an injection molded one it seems to be a let down.

Dart Zone commented on their own post saying they have no plans to release outside the US soon. Will likely be a long wait or never.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT Yeah I was hoping that meant, just not right now. But that could be a lot of wishful thinking on my part.

The magazines might work in other blasters if you use a dremel to sand off the ridges near the front, but I don't have a DZP to confirm or deny this.

Mr. Philips, thank you for good video comparing the two darts
You could 3D print an adapter to fit your blaster and still house the shot dart mag.
I give it exactly 12 seconds before someone makes a 3D printable adapter for nerf magwells.
Wouldn't be hard to make an adapter that takes talon, katana and these
Probably already done🤦♂️

@@BradleyPhillipsYT Thanks SOOOO much i really appreciate it XD, just got my blastertech scar and can't wait to try it out
do the DZP half length mags work with talon or katana adaptors?
Works with Katana but it's very tight
with the bamboo darts teh tails looked far more erratic but the trajectory was far straighter.
What scar barrel do you use on your omega LS kit. Is there a link?
Blastertech Mk2 scar barrel

this is what ive been waiting for.
For the mags, go at it with a dremel.
Worker Gen4 bamboo darts will be out soon. LOL i'm sure we all know what will happen
I have been waiting for a comprehensive bamboo dart review, thank you!
TL;DR
They’re basically identical, the only difference is that Bamboo Darts have a slightly higher FPS.
The tip of the bamboo darts seem to be more flexible and wider.
The 2 holes on them might de-accelerate them
Seems like the bamboo darts spin more from the scar.
You should glue the 3 dart heads to the opposite darts
We will stick with Worker gen3. We are from Poland so Free shipping from China vs 20$ from US makes a big difference
I recently used Worker gen2s at our last war and will not use any other dart now.
Awesome video keep it up!
maybe sand or file down the sides
That hurts seeing you take off the top of the bamboo darts
Surface area has no effect on friction
The pulling apart of darts was majorly cringey
Yes... Yes.... but very necessary.
Cringe... FOR SCIENCE!
Moooooooom he is removing my tips
1:35 - Oh god, why?!?

293 fps using 1g dart!? This equals to 4 joules of energy. Are you going to use this gun to kill people?
4 joules dispursed by a wider and much softer impact point than a BB.
