I have been here roughly 15 times the last 3 months and my advice for anyone is to go as light a jighead as possible. You will catch far more fish using the lighter jigheads. if possible too run as light a leader as possible when they are slow, you will lose fish to the poles but thats all part of the fun! When they are on they will hit just about anything i have gone some days and caught fish on 20 different tyoes of soft plastics. The best performer overall though would definitely be the keitech 3 inch paddle tail range.
Great advice !! Yeah i got some keitech 3 inch paddle tails during the week, they look awesome. I also agree with going with lighter line and leader but being prepared to loose a few good fish
@@fishingmad Yeah unfortunately that's the trade off you have to make at times. I also have been experimenting with Aji gear and have had good success on small 1 inch to 2 inch soft plastics. Once the water warms up a bit more the bigger fish should start moving in which should be good fun!
yeah agreed completely, going lighter and smaller seems to be very effective, ive been fishing a tad heavier hoping to land that massive one
@@fishingmad which Keith paddle tail range, there’s so many
Nice fish! Good fish! Great fish!
Great range of fish at the 'Fishing mad regatta'.
Thanks 👍
Great video Alan 👍pinkies galore all over the bay , should be a good season .
Thanks Martin, Yeah should be a very exciting season a head. Had some awesome sessions already this past week
Nice vid Alan. I have a feeling the fishing will be hot as over the next couple of months. Exciting stuff!
Yep the fishing has been amazing this past week with the temperature rising. id expect the next 2 months to be amazing
Awesome Video Alan!!! Beautiful conditions out there. That rod and reel combination looks mint.
Thanks 👍 Its sure was, Hope your well and getting out fishing
Thanks Alan I’m well. Haven’t bee out in a while hopefully now the weather is getting nicer I’ll get out a bit more
Great sesh mate! Such an awesome spot. Hangin to go there.
Yeah its a brilliant location, gotta pick your moments with boat and kayak traffic and tides. We didn't find the big ones that day but they are there
Great video as always bud 👌🏼🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thank you !!
Wish that weather was here 🤣
Yeah me too, was so nice last week. I miss the 20 degree days already
Nice vid Alan. Last time I went there, they love the muss (mussel vibe lure). But losing that to the pylon will be a bit hurt to the pocket 💸
Oh yeah very true the muss vibe would be awesome there. Might be worth a revisit just to give that a go.
You done really well considering the water temp is still yet to get the fish fired up! I’ve noticed the fish in that spot really like the creature soft baits. Caught heaps on trd crawz and daiwa risky critter last time I was out.
Awesome, thanks for the tip. What colour risky critter were you using. Funny enough the water temp has risen 2 degrees since this was recorded so it should fish very well over the coming weeks.
@@fishingmad skin shrimp, motor oil trd crawz
Awesome, thanks !!
sungguh bagus sekali paman...semangat terus ..
Great video Alan! The new combo looks mint. I am just getting stuck into kayak fishing targeting snapper in Port Phillip on soft plastics with little success. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Hi Ben, Thanks for the comment. Im putting together some content at the moment on specifically targeting snapper in PPB with soft plastics, should be out in a few weeks. It will go through setup and technique in great detail
@@fishingmad Sounds great! Looking forward to it.
Hi Alan, great vid! Were you running the 16ply gosen braid on the FK?
Yes 👍 100% Gosen 16x 20lb which is PE 0.8. Such thin diameter, been really good stuff but can be expensive
Mate, you were at the end of the street and didn't call in for a coffee!? 😄 great vid
Oh no, do you live there ?? Next time I will have to drop in
@@fishingmadthat's why Hunter had you teach him on the Yarra- we live right around the corner. Hunter wouldn't know what to do if you stopped by!😄
What made you choose the worms?
What technique do you use with the worm lures? Is it just short casts and jigging in those pylons?
(I have a pack of those worms in pumpkin seed given to me but I don't know how to fish with them or what to target, though looks like i will target pinkies with them now).
Water temp in rhe Lakes is now up to 13*c so the bay should warm-up within 2 weeks if not sooner. Big snapper up here coming in off the boats. I cannot go out as my trailer is out of reg and got a ticket by the water rats.
The worms and small paddletails work great for pinkies and snapper. Also the trevally, salmon and other species will happily take them too. Yeah cast into the poles and work them out very slowly almost like a jigging technique for sure. If you not getting bites then go lighter on the line and leader, i was 100% fishing a tas heavy on this occasion but much of that was due to product testing.
Hi Alan. Just wanted to know how you uploaded the tide chart onto your fish finder. I have a Lawrence elite
Its there automatically. Go to the home screen of your sounder and press info. It will automatically pick up your location and closest tides. Its a really handy tool many are unaware of. We have lots of little tips like this in our members area called sounder school. Cheers
hey alan, went out last week with just bait, caught a nice pinkie, just wanted to ask if the 2.5 grubs would work for them, just flicking them up and letting it sink back down.and would fishing along them sidways be good? cheers
1000% pinkies love 2.5 inch grubs. I've caught countless pinkies with them. You could also use things like 3 inch slim swimz
👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks
Alan great vid l fished there when there was a pier. I have a question lam thinking in buying a kayak not a paddle one. I am 193.4 cent tall and 112 kg will there be something for my size.
Wow i never fished it when it still was a full pier. In terms of kayaks you will have no problems finding something suitable. Many kayaks like mine are 14 foot long and have a weight class well over 150 kilos. I wrote this article which may be helpful fishingmad.com.au/article/fishing-kayak-buyers-guide-2022 cheers
I noticed that you don’t use the assist hooks on the turtle backs for snapper, is it just for KG’s?
Great pickup, yeah I only use the assist hooks when targeting KGW as they have small mouths and can be very finicky.
have you tried the nrx+ 902?
The 902s look like awesome rods, same specs but longer blank. I don't believe we get the 902's in Australia unfortunately
@@fishingmad Got it thank you :)
I wouldn't hang the hook on the centre ring on that expensive rod!
Hey Alan, how long was the rod you were using?
7 foot the model was 842S SJR
First
Awesome, Well done. Enjoy the Vid !!
