  • In this video I am testing out a dip powder by Nailboo. This tutorial and review will feature the dip powder named Date Night. The pro set is shown in the video comes with six dip powders.
    Thanks to the craziness of 2020, I have not been able to visit my manicurist, so I decided to give this company a try and see if the results are similar to the gel nails I normally get.
    I hope you enjoy this dip powder tutorial. Let me know if you have tried the dip powder by Nailboo and how you feel about it.
    Again, I ordered and paid for the product myself, but I was given a link for anyone that would like to save $10 on their order.

    came across this while looking for honest reviews of Nailboo. just wanted to say that after watching another review, there was a couple of tips. One was to clean the bottle necks with some acetone or alcohol before screwing back closed. another was to have a paper towel to just wipe the brush across when applying the first layer of top coat on so as to prevent ANY of the activator from getting into the top coat bottle. It was stated that if this occurs, it could thicken and harden the top coat liquid as well as stiffening the brush resulting in it not fanning out as well when applying product to the nail. LOVED this review out of all I've seen. Very detailed. Thanks for doing what you do.

      Will you explain what you meant by using a paper towel to wipe the brush across when applying the first layer of top coat? Do you mean before and after each mail? I haven’t done by first set yet, and honestly, I’m so intimidated!

    • @AloftAloft
      @AloftAloft  2 роки тому +29

      @@annetaylor527 Don't be intimidated. It sounds more complicated than it really is. We use the paper towel to wipe off any residue/dip that is on the bristles. It's more for the second or third dip instead of the first dip. Using this red powder as an example, when dipping into the jar for the second coat, if I noticed the brush was red after I applied a layer of base on top of the red powder then I would wipe the brush on the paper towel before putting the brush back into the bottle to prevent contamination. This also applies to the activator bottle and when using glitters.

    I also have Nailboo and I love it. I will say that I agree with you on the nail file that comes with it. Also, you have to be careful when applying the base coat. You want to make sure that it dries some before dipping a 2nd or 3rd time because if not, the nail begins to look deformed and then you will have to file it down and reshape it more. Overall, I think it is a great kit to have. The one complaint I have is how the top coat and base coat dries when you put the lids back on because if you aren't careful, you won't be able to get it off for future use. I speak from experience and unfortunately, I had to throw mine away and order more. Loved the review! It was definitely accurate. :)

    Nice tutorial, I have to agree with your impressions of the file, the worst I’ve ever used. I’m not sure if you noticed but top and base are the exact same product, they contain the same exact ingredients. I had such a hard time with opening the bottles myself too, what a pain however, I’ve been using step 4, the cleaner bottle to clean the brushes, always need to remember to clean the bottles with acetone to prevent the gunkiness hardening and making it almost impossible to open the bottles.

    This video was great. It confirmed for me that I had not missed steps in the application process. I watched thinking I might want to redo my last manicure which is only a few days old. I thought I would love this as much as acrylic nails that I used to apply. For me, this polish does not last. It becomes loose just days after applying, and then I am have to spend quite a bit of time soaking and buffing the polish off.

    Although I have all the product that I bought over a year ago, I haven't been brave enough to do it myself. I did go to a salon to watch the process, & it seems simple enough, but . . .
    You do a really good job in your tutorial of explaining the potential pitfalls, & then executing the process.

      I did figure out you can fix mistakes if you do one whole hand but don't apply the activator. Then if you have peaks of overbuild or covered cuticles, you can easily file it off THEN I apply the activator.
      I keep playing with this stuff and getting new colors, so I have yet to keep it on longer than a week, but I did put it on my daughter's nails when I got my starter set, and she still has it here about 6-7 weeks later. We're doing her new ones tomorrow.
      I bought the Onyx soak off and pour it into a Ziploc, then work it off with my fingertips. Takes about 5 minutes per hand 👌🏻
