Because Ubisoft uses animation points. If there are 2 guards + 1 civilian and they're undisturbed in that area, then they will do the animation in a loop (never ending) unless disturbed, then if they are left alone after being disturbed they will probably go back to harassing the civilian.
The movement in Unity was crazy good. They basicly had thousands of unique transition animations for going up, down or sideways on any building. The lighting and materials are also still the best in the series. Not to mention it had actual good assassinations. Now you just have huge open worlds where you can easily walk up to any target and kill them, unless they are 1 level above you then they are immortal.
Excitonium it’s just luck. That’s a random animation that only happens if the game feels like it. The back eject chains actually required thought and real button inputs. The spinning descent is just fortune
I actually liked the story and Arno and Elise until she became this whole "I want revenge" type, but that's my opinion, you're entitled to yours, the worst game in my opinion was syndicate and ac 2 , ac 2 only because of the gameplay I loved the story before any confusion And syndicate I just hated everything except the setting and Henry green

I love the fluid animations of this game. I wish they would've stuck with the mocap style character movements. I really enjoy the expansive environments of Origins and Odyssey, but the character animations definitely took a downgrade.
It's a deliberate descision. Parkour was a French invention, so they gave Arno the best animations to reflect that. They try and give every MC a different gimmick. I love Bayek and Kassandra a shitton, but I do hope the next AC game has a protag who has fun animations.

I definitely think that Unity is the best as far as weapons, clothing, and parkour is concerned. Black Flag was cool with the Jackdaw, but the aforementioned suffered a big hit. IMO, Origins and Odyssey have taken the formula _way_ too far away from what made the earlier games great, that's for sure. An abysmal launch and a few other bad hiccups not withstanding, this was one of the best AC games.

I still can't believe that this game came out in 2014. The visuals, the gameplay it's all just amazing and man o' man the parkour is the best in the series. My third favorite entry in the series after The Ezio trilogy and Black Flag.

It's not really cookie cutter, combat is way better then most RPGs...the parkour isn't as good as it is here but it's still pretty slick, no RPGs I know of with any wall climbing anyways. The assassinations are cool and satisfying still and stealth is still huge if you wanna play that way. Odessey is different for sure but the core assassin's Creed shit is still there.

This game really feels like the height of what the series was originally meant to be. Yeah it wasn't perfect by any means but it did so much right. Wish they'd go back to this style.

@@jaguar_8344 actually in Valhalla parkour remains simplistic but the game is going to have guaranteed assassination without worry about armor stats and enemy level. Plus stealth mechanics like hiding in crowd is coming back too. Ubisoft is on the right path to merge classic AC with RPG AC. They just need to improve parkour and add more advanced animation for parry like in the old titles.
