- That's right. I successfully RNG Manipulated a Shiny Shaymin in the latest update of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and put together a guide as FAST AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.

Also included some tips that I think are valuable, if you're having trouble:
"You just need to copy the frame you want from Pokefinder into the "Target" column and adjust the delay as you need, then copy the number that appears in the "Press A Frame" column into the Project-XS "Keypress Advance" box, if you've got an early target and see a red or amber "Press A Box" cell just make sure your delay and target frame are inputted correctly.
Hopefully this will help people RNG for Shaymin like I've been able to do. Also don't be afraid to change the delay by 100 or more from Papa Jefé's delay if you're consistently getting 100 or more over your frame, I ended my shiny hunt with a 2060 delay rather than 1951, this RNG manipulation is all about trial and error and you'll probably fail many times before landing on your shiny frame."

One extra tip, if you dig the tunnel behind shamin you can mash A when you come up from the tunnel instead of turning backwards when you come up if you face him from the front
Also if it takes a long time to monitor you want to move your controllers so the screen doesn’t go dark. You don’t need to press any buttons. Also I find my advances get stuck on 2 before I try to go out and advance more to my target keypress advance I stop preview and re identify and make sure the advance count is going up. It has happened to me where the count just gets lost and there is an error and this tends to prevent it. I have been consistently pretty close now especially digging behind shaymin helped a lot with consistency
Something that could seriously improve the timing and margin of error is having an animation sliding bar for the timing on the 6 second beeps to have say a red line slide and a static target green line to press it once it reaches that point. Because going by sound I find I press it right before or after the 6th beep and this causes about a 30 frame variance that I can’t adjust for I just have to be lucky. This is after I have adjusted making the tunnel behind shaymin so I don’t have to turn around I can just spam A. Really this is more so for the first two 6 second beep periods
That's a good idea! I've never spoken to the flowtimer developer, but maybe it's possible?
The trick I use, is to bob my head in rhythm with the beeps, and then on the 6th beep just move my finger at the same time.
Everyone kinda comes up with their own little internal system for doing the beeps, as they are a common feature of older games RNG.
This is so amazing to do on retail man.
Even tho I got all the Shaymin and shiny Shaymin I need from Gen 4 RNG, I might try this one day, just to see what was harder. This, or starter RNG in BW2 (wich to this day is the hardest RNG I've done so far). Ugh, I already hate myself for the pain I'm going to experience :D
This is way harder than BW2 starter RNG. BW2 took me 2 days to get it, this one I've been doing for a couple weeks and can't get it for some reason...
I really wish you would do videos for Cresselia, heatran and lake guardians etc as well. Following your guide is really helpful and I have come to trust your voice a lot, you're a great teacher and speaker

Tried this for about 3ish hours Today. Got very close several times, like 2-8 frames. I noticed that the way I press the buttons has a real impact on the frames as well. Hopefully I can get everything down correctly tomorrow and walk away with a blue, modest hedgehog! Thank you for this tutorial, much more fun than resetting for like 10 hours, hahaha
How did you get the flowtimer to go off by itself?
@@hermex26 you have to make sure you click on the tab for flowtimer. example if you click the monitor window thats showing the advances so its the top layer on your screen, it wont trigger. you need to have flowtimer as the top layer on your computer for it to trigger. this same issue was tripping me up too
@@Jmulvez Alternatively in the flowtimer settings where you enable page up, there is a global checkbox. If you check that it recognises page up without being on top. I just managed to do this today and got my Shaymin finally after 39 attempts (tweaked delays etc. to values I found comfortable)
@@danredda1 did you really? ive been within 5 frames about 15 times now and just cant get it. what settings did you use on the timer? only adjustment i made was moving the 2nd interval from 8500 to 9000

Just wanted to share my thanks for making this guide as well! I'm currently 32 attempts in for Shamyin (after successfully getting Dialga, Cresselia, Darkrai and Arceus).
It's unfortunate that this hunt is so random but I've had a few attempts at +-5 advances so I know it's possible. Thanks for making these guides and I hope I'll get my mint hedghog soon!

Thank you so much for putting out this guide man! Just got my Shiny Shaymin after 29 tries. This is definitely more fun than soft resetting, since you can actually analyse how off you are after each attempt and then play around accordingly, but pretty frustrating as well with the crazy rng on Shaymin's island, and the assertion errors(I used a droid cam setup through my phone).
A huge thank you to you, since this was my first RNG attempt of any sort in any Pokemon game and I got it in a relatively short time! Final settings I used were:
A-Press Delay: 1929
Flowtimer: 3000/8600/18975

After getting shiny Darkrai and Arceus within a few hours, I was feeling kinda confident when I tried to do this one. Got to say it's probably the wildest, most frustrating, and most difficult one so far.
Got my shiny shaymin after around 6 days with more or less 18 timer accurate tries, and a lot of botched attempts.
With the 3000/8500/19000 Flow Timer, I got my delay tweaked to 1869 for my final try with wildly varying offsets per adjustment. Plus noticing how shaymin may or may not blink during the cutscene, I think I got lucky on my final try.
Getting the delay was kind of frustrating considering the varying input delay with my 8bitdo controller, my own mental timing, and using a Genki Shadowcast as my "capture card", on my gen 1 switch.
congrats on shaymin! this is very difficult.
I sometimes get this error when hitting "Preveiw". "Failed to pull input from target window, make sure nothing else is accessing the window (stop preview before monitoring blinks)."
Not that you will respond to this, but nice job scamming your audience into thinking you actually reset for these Shiny pokemon, at least say you used the blink method and not fake your resets
@@penguinpulverizers5985 i havent lied to anyone. Palkia and Arceus were purely my own hard work. Kyogre i posted was blinked. I never said i didn’t use blink and i never said that i did. The reason the title says how i got this lucky is because it was my first attempt at it 🤷♂️

Got mine shiny shaymin today thanks for your tutorial it worked. Took maybe 20+ tries, finally got shiny but my dumbass clicked runaway had to retry 3 times again to get it. But i caught it 2nd time. Thank you very much for the tutoral save a lot of time for shiny. I was using this rng after you showed how to use on legendary.
Just used this same method to RNG Spiritomb, if anyone reading is interested I used a timer of 3000/8500/18000 with a final delay of 367. Thanks Papa Jefe, couldn't have done it without your guides :)

I have the problem that the time doesnt start automatecly, when the advances reaches the keypress advances. Watched the Video twice and still cant find my mistake unfortunately.
Did you set the Timer Start hotkey in Flowtimer to Page Up? There might be a checkbox that says like... "Global" to make it register
@ yh i've done every single step and everything looks like yours. Only the timer doesnt start.
And i saw now another Problem. I started the time manuell and i cant hit the 3rd time at the right time, cause my animation of shaymin, when i press a, is a bit slower than yours. Your screen is instant black and my screen goes slowly black, when i press a on shaymin.
Have Animations off. Dont where the problem ist.
@@FCBayernRobbery1 I had to edit Shaymin in the second time I show it in the video (because I had already claimed the Shaymin) refer to the first attempt at the beginning which isn't edited. Mine still fades.
Just make sure you're holding Up and mashing A after leaving the underground, so you start talking to Shaymin as fast as possible.
There's also a strange quirk in this game where having music off can speed up animation speeds, so try that.
The only other thing I can think of, is maybe my timing is different because I've run away and respawned it a few times? Maybe the animation is slower if it's your first interaction.
As for getting the timer to auto-trigger, you might need to click the "install.bat" again, as if you've used Playerblink before, there's a new requirement for doing the keypress.
finally got it after like a week of on and off attempts, and messing with my delays.
I found that my delay was wildly off from the "1951" that you suggested using. I found that a delay of "1399" was allowing for me to hit 1-10 advances off on a good attempt. The only thing I can assume causing this difference being that I chose the male gendered playable character versus the female gendered character you used in the video.
Hitting the timing was also a little daunting at times, mostly on the exit from underground part of the manipulation. Whenever I wasn't frame perfect(or nearly perfect) on the menu open to exit the underground I had greater variance in the advances I was hitting, usually an extra 10 advancements off of the average. But I'm not super versed in BDSP RNG manipulation so as far as I know this is just my bias.

for me also I am experimenting with around 1400 with female character. I did notice that his delay with going up from underground is a lot less than I have. Might be the reason

Wow! Thanks Papa for this amazing video. I honestly didnt understood much how to get the delay properly so I started playing with numbers there (your 1951 delay) was nowhere close to my frames, but after literally 5 tries I kinda narrow the number (catching the shaymin everytime and do a lot of math to get the number) and i ended up with a delay of 1623 which gave me shaymin at 6th try. I honestly thought that i missed the frame because I kinda pressed the a button a bit late (to get out of the underground) but oh boi when i saw the sparkling shaymin.. couldn't believe it. I was planning trying for a little longer and worse case scenario do the usual hunt for it, but no needed in the end.
Your rng guides have been amazing. Working through the legends (got Dialga, Arceus, Registeel, Regice, Azelf, Uxie, Cresselia, Darkrai and Giratina already). Just getting close to finish with all outside of Ramanas Park to keep grinding for mysterious shards to get the slates (boring stuff) to continue the hunt there!

I was able to get the shiny shaymin after closely to 100 tries and it was definitely one of the toughest of them all..
Changing the delay from 1951 to 1952 or 1962, counting the numbers from heart to actually speaking out loud XD
After thouroughly investigating your guide video with Shaymin and checked one by one on how your voice and the FlowTimer matched
My final FlowTimer Offset was 3150/8600/19000 while having 1951 delay
I was able to count the beeps normally instead of having to count slow or fast in several intervals : )

Got Arceus and Darkrai without many issues, but this little bastard is hard as hell. I'm always a couple frames off. Closest I got was 1 frame. Not giving up tho!

Hello guys, sorry to bother you but I'm a little bit desesperate. I tried multiple times to link my webcam via OBS to the program unsuccessfully and I don't quite understand what's the matter. I get an "Frame captured is empty, make sure your camera is set up properly" message when trying to link the program to the Windowed Projector and nothing happens. But it's working well on OBS. I've also tried to cycle through the camera numbers but none seems to work, except for one, 1, which makes the app crash
If you're using the windowed projector and OBS, make sure "Monitor Window" is checked and that the window is visible on your screen. It can be in the background, but not minimized. Then put the first word of the window's title (in this case "Windowed") into the text box. Sometimes there are also issues with the Window being too small. Try making the Windowed Projector bigger on your screen.
If that doesn't work, close OBS and then uncheck monitor window when you're using the Camera selector. If a camera # crashes the program, it's either being used by multiple programs at once, or it has driver issues.
Are you on Windows 10 or Windows 11? I've heard of issues like this on 11. Hopefully you're able to get it working.

@ 10. It seems to happen less now but i see now that it only goes black when i open one of the other programs while its preveiwing.
Ok so from doing my own tests on getting shaymin... The method portrayed in this video requires a huge unnecessary step, using the flow timer. If you calculate the exact frame you step out of the secret base to immediately going up and encountering shaymin as QUICKLY as possible. It is a delay of 1354 or 1355 1378 1379 1405 or 1408 and 1454. As well as other possibilities between the smallest and largest delay I have listed here. Using the flow timer will more than likely have you attempting this longer than you should simply because it is HEAVILY reliant on correctly timing the button press according to the flow timer beeps versus doing it in the same way on every attempt by doing it as swiftly as possible. Choose one of the delays I have listed here or test it and see for yourself. Choose one and consistently attempt at that delay and you will get shaymin before too long
I have a question for you. If someone is using the console version and is simply riding a bike in and out of the area to respawn, what would be a good amount of time to wait between coming into the area and clicking on Shaymin? Been looking everywhere for a guide on this but no luck. But you seem to know what you're talking about, so I figured I'd ask.
We are all using the console version, or at least most of us and I am not sure if you mean with or without rng manipulation. Without it your just going to have to keep trying at the fastest most constant pace and you will get it in time. Can’t say for sure when. It took me 14 days give or take one day and doing it an average of 5hours per day without using rng. Using rng it took me about 15 hours total spread across 3 days

Random comment after two years but, I tried Papa Jefe's method for a little bit a week or so ago and the best I could get was within 60 frames. As my Switch was low on charge I was scrolling through here and saw your comment and decided the next time I was to attempt Shaymin I would give this a go. That day was today, I tried a delay of 1379 to experiment and got within 10 frames twice (out of maybe 5 attempts), I felt good about my chances and on my 6th attempt (and using a delay of 1380) I managed to snag my shiny Shaymin. Thanks so much for your recommendation, really suited my style more of consistently speeding through!

A little late to the party, when adding the 'Windowed' onto Player Blink, it just inputs a still image and can't seem to get a moving image from OBS. Any ideas anyone on how to fix this?

On my first attempt I hit 46880 when my target was 45529. Was that because I was a step away from shaymin ? I know that you said the noise is crazy high in the overworld? Also I hit page up but the flow timer didn’t automatically start ? So I’m sure that made it a bit worse I just tapped to your rhythm
Well if I add 1951 then I get 47480 which was the number in pokefinder does that mean I was actually early ??

It sounds like you were successful, which is awesome! It's by far one of the hardest RNGs in BDSP. Those advances are COOKIN.
@ It's easy to forget certain skills aren't accessible for everyone if you've been using them for a while, I know I've been guilty of that before.
Hopefully someone can find the spreadsheet useful and make this RNG a bit more accessible for those who forget to keep track of any changes in delay.
This RNG definitely took a few hours out of my life, but definitely glad I've successfully completed the challenge

This is very cool! I'm going to keep trying this; I misinput the S[0-1] code a couple times and so I was very confused on how I was off by 100000 advances, but I now I'm off by just around 100.

I have been on this guy for a while, currently Flowtimer is set at 3000/8500/19202 and with a Delay of 1951, and this is consistently getting me 20-40 early about every time, one time I got 5-6 off!! So close! But I don’t understand how it works if I changed the delay like higher or lower or how to change the flow timer, what do you think would be best to get that 20-40 barely closer?? How do I do that, so I can understand the Flowtimer

arceus took a few tries but got him pretty easy. shaymins been tough. closest i got was 3 frames. but usually hit around 20 frames early or late
same. I got Arceus on the 3rd try. Shaymin... not so much. Closest i've gotten was 34 frames lol.

Wow this is all so crazy impressive that you took the time to do all the math and took into factor every single polygon on Shaymin's a**hole! However can break this down for people who don't have all this equipment or is it just impossible?
what program are you using to preview your game? i have a hd 60 s and the el gato game capture program isnt playing nice with Player Blink. My progress is stuck at 0/0 and I have to deselect "monitor window" to get my game to show up in the program and whenever it is selected, nothing works
Monitor Window isn't necessary. If you can get a preview without it, use that.
PlayerBlink has two ways to get a video feed, Camera Index and Monitor Window. Different setups will have an easier time depending on operating system and capture device.

I'm sorry if this is already clear, but I've watched a bunch of these videos and I'm still not sure. Does clicking a button cause advances? I'm not manipulating, just curious about how the system works. I've got a controller that auto-presses A for soft resets and I'm wondering if that puts me on the same advance everytime or if it depends on when I stop. Not a super important question, I just like learning more about the system.
In the case of BDSP, no it isn't affected by button presses. The seed changes every reset, so your soft resets are fine.

Afraid not. You're limited to just hunting the normal way. Run away from Shaymin, walk back down the path a bit, then come back and he'll respawn.
I was super excited to try this method out! However when I go to set up my preview window for my capture card (an avermedia one) it only reads it under the camera option. And trying with the camera setting, its constantly registering blinks when my character hasn’t done any. :(

You need to make sure that you have focused the window of the flowtimer

What would be the difference of starting with camera or with cofig secret base?
The different configs are essentially just saved presets. Any config can be modified to match any encounter, they are just recommended starting points from people who have already successfully completed the RNG.
I’ve seem to have set this up correctly. But I have one concern. My capture card seems ‘slightly’ delayed on the blink preview program. Would this greatly affect my advances and which frames I hit?
A month late reply, but I hope you don't mind. The capture card delay will only matter initially as you figure out what delay you need to accomodate for in your timings. Like in my case, I found myself consistently hitting before the shiny advance. So I've lowered my delay to accomodate for that and now I'm hitting before and after the shiny advance.
Ideally, you want to be equally hitting before and after the shiny advance as that means your timing is about right and after that you just need to get lucky.
Does the loading screen between the underground and Shaymin add any advances?
My switch seems to arbitrarily decide how long it'll take to load so flow timer is constantly going off at the wrong time, might just have to mash through it the second I spawn up top
Unfortunately this is part of the troubling inconsistencies with this RNG.
The point of flowtimer is to try and make the time spent in the cave, and above ground, consistent across attempts. So you can bump the second stage up a bit, if you're cutting it too close.
Your results will likely change a lot for every additional second you add, but in the end might yield more consistent attempts.
Just had a thought. Airplane mode might help? Because otherwise the underground is doing wireless shenanigans.

Well I've currently had to bump the timer up to 24 seconds and even then I've had it go off before I've spawned above ground, good fun. But yeah I get the logic, wasn't sure if worst case mashing through above ground would hopefully alleviate any excess advances
Ah interesting, I am setting it to play alone but maybe it is doing some weird stuff in the background, will give that a try and see how it goes, thank you 🙂
@ You beauty, just got my shiny little hedgehog. Airplane mode seemed to make it more consistent, little tweak to the timer and delay and nailed it on a square shiny of all ones!!

Quick question, if i can only catch one shaymin, how do i keep track of how far im missing the catch window frame? Do i need a modded switch to reload a save before i catch Shaymin, or am i missing something.
so catch it, and then put in its stats+nature and so on and it will appear with its code and compare that to what your target was
About the method I have 2 questions, because I can not get it:
I have a capture card that has 200ms delay between original switch image and transmitted image. Do I have to consider this with the inputs and if where do I have to change something?
Is it possible, if I messed up the timing on a Shaymin, that I start the next one from the PokeFinder or do I have to reset the game?
Shaymin might be tough with 200ms of delay.
You won't be able to use the 1951 buffer I used.
You'll need to do a few attempts, and start tweaking that 1951 buffer to get closer and compensate for your capture card input lag.
why it doesn't work, when I change from camera.json to secret_base.json? Exception is: Window not found.
I can't seem to get the setup to work. I'm going through OBS, and I was looking at the FAQ. I have everything as listed, but when I click on "preview" the command box says "window not found" . How do I solve this issue?
Try not closing OBS, and then unchecking monitor window. Click camera.bat to get the ID number of your camera or capture card, and then select that number with the camera selector.
OBS Window Capture gives people issues, and we've since found using the camera selector to be more reliable on more computers

If I am coming in about 50 eraly on average should I move the delay up or down 1?
You want to hit the button later, so I'd make delay smaller.
Larger Delay = Earlier Button Press
Smaller Delay = Later Button Press

@@PeaceLoveMusic504 Yes it is easier than Shaymin, but there isn't a video up for it yet.
You can use Config_mtcoronet and start RNG right at the entrance to the stairs to his chamber. I do about 200 advances early for timeline, and start with 100 advances for target. Start Timeline, walk down the stairs when it hits 0 and proceed to Regigigas.
Make sure the path you're walking is CONSISTENT. Use the Dpad to walk, not the joystick. The floor tiles are active with wild Pokemon, so every step moves the RNG.
After you catch your first Regigigas this way, you'd adjust your delay by how many you were off.
Keep repeating this process until you start hitting within 1-2 advances every time.
Consistent movement is key, but he also Blinks, so its possible to miss even if you're perfect.
If you join the discord, there's some past conversations in the RNG help channel that could be of use to you as well.
