Oh my gosh, 16 seconds into this video I have to stop and say something about how stunning your look is. That eye shadow color is DIVINE, and your brush out is just exquisite!
The 80’s were wonderfully all over the place but I’ve always liked the business professional look for women then because they were very 1940’s inspired looking. By the way, I love you in dresses but pants/jeans really flatter your figure 😊
I am chomping at the bit to transition into my spring wardrobe but Ohio has decided for me that I must wait a bit longer. I love the floral blouses paired with the solid pants/skirts. I do that as well but more with stripes and plaids and a colorful cordinating turban. Did the earrings complete a set for you?
My gf has had the same lapse in scarf luck! She says it's the trend of infinity scarves that causes it. She has taken to cutting infinity scarves into square shapes so she can still use them in a vintage way.
I am always amazed how cute your thrift hauls are on! Honestly they never look like much on the hangers but you always style in the cutest ways. Very inspiring - thanks!!
Just started watching Agent Carter and her outfits (and also other character's outfits) are stunning! If I my hair wouldn't absolutely refuse to be curled and I was up for wearing make up on a daily basis, she'd be my style icon!
"Steve Jobs if he was a 50s schoolgirl which makes absolutely no sense“, that cracked me up 😂😂 Also your hair in the beginning in combination with your makeup and earrings is giving me major Elizabeth Taylor vibes 😍
I wear my vintage blouses all the time,I love wearing them with my high waisted black pants.Very fresh looks you found!I love them!I'm loving loud too lately!x
Those jodhpur images: My husband really liked your adventure wear idea. We watched video ages ago, We’ve got plans for ancient Egypt 2025 still! So he’s found the up to the knee leather “snake bite” boots! And it’s Brendan Frasier the sexy version in Mummy II. The adventure look meets Indiana Jones and has the leather gun harness that he to oil! So we both got into the whole tomb adventure archeologist, in vintage sexy way. Ha ha so it’s got pretty cool.
Thank you! I promise my skin is actually not so great, I have always had quite acne prone skin and it is never near 100% clear by a long shot. I am also rather lazy/bad with skincare, which of course doesn't help, so I don't have a set routine at all. I mostly just use a tea tree face cleanser and then try and use a few Mario Badescu products when I can remember! (aloe vera toner and the vitamin c oil) As for foundation, I just use Mac studio fix fluid, and Tarte shape tape concealer.
Love the make up and the ball drop earrings. Great haul and styling. Love all the looks. Your styling gave me some wonderful ideas and inspiration. The first look was my favorite - - all black, very feminine...very me. The last look was cool too. The spring green tones in the head scarf and the mules added a cute unexpected touch to the black ensemble. And the clutch is fab.
The many flavors of navy are why I have never made it my basic color, even though it's more flattering than black on me. Love the collar and full sleeves on that polyester blouse BTW.
Love your look! FYI There was a Jodhpurs craze in about 1980' s (3?) in New York New Jersey .All the nurses were wearing them at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. So that means Bloomingdale's! Love your scholarly approach , go Closet Archeologist!
I loooove that green top. All of your outfits for it are both super vintage and super modern, just change up the hair and makeup. So jealous. I feel like I always struggle in thrift stores to find stuff that's my specific style of vintage which is some combination of mod, beatnik, and 60s folk singer lol.
Hell yeah!! What a successful thrift hall chica! I love that green leaf print shirt, also those gold earrings are a find & a half! Looking amazing as ever too! Xxx
All the looks are spot on. You look marvelous in green, the tropical floral shirt tied at waist looks very cute w/ the jeans. The 50's pin-up " bad girl " look is one I like as well, I've got a great red/orange vintage short London Fog jacket, ( Rebel w/out a cause James Dean-ish ) that works well for that. Iv'e just got to get the scarf tying tricks down.
Thank you Chloe! I had some trouble keeping scarves on my head before, as the back of my head is rather flat at the neck, but now that my head is shaved back there (I have an undercut) it is even more of a struggle! ;)
Casual vintage look is what i do almost all the time. Jeans band shirts or a nice blouse, flats, peep toe shoes, red lips, curl hair... yhea i get what you meant
I came for the thrift haul, i subscribed for the equal obsession with colourpop. Currently fighting with myself over vintage bags on poshmark or my colourpop cart.
Thank you for the video always enjoy your videos especially thrifted ones. Just wanted to know if you could do a short video on changing the earrings over, I would also like to change broken old brooches into hair clips. Thank you again Cheers Tricia.
Thank you Tricia! I can try to film one in the future, but I do have this old blog post showing how I glue post-backs to buttons which is essentially the same thing I do to clip ons theclosethistorian.blogspot.com/2013/07/earrings-from-buttons.html
Ciao Bianca! Your eye make-up is gorgeous and love those earrings! My favourites were the green shirt, the earrings, I own a pair of similar trifari ones, in that same gold tone, but with flowers (and they hurt!!) and can't remember exactly but probably paid too much for mine, but I love them. You look so cute in them jeans and pants in general! What about a styling tutorial showing us how to create some 40s looks from scratch with the things you have, like going through the process, maybe starting with a dress or a skirt or a blouse and how you then build the look? just a thought...also I would love to see a video on your process, which is a similar idea but a little different ha ha on how you think when styling an item, in general...how you pick accessories...it would be educational and fun...Always love your videos and your humour and boy do you speak fast 😘
I just picked up a near-duplicate of that grey Agent Carter-esque blouse in black a few weeks ago and it's been such a hit in public. (Mine is also polyester, which I loathe, but it's a great basic.)
Wow, that very 40s blouse is DEFINITELY worth the polyester! Such an amazing find~ And I looove that tropical blouse, it looks great on you! I'm with ya, I'd like tropical prints much better if they could just stick to foliage. I'd love to see more styling videos from you, maybe some sort of challenge to pick an item and style it three ways or something? Or a favorite color combinations video? idk, but you do impeccable styling so I'd just like to see more of it in general! Here's kind of a random question: do you hem _all_ the 80s midi skirts you pick up? I'm a little afraid of messing up what's already a perfectly nice skirt since I'm not very experienced of a seamstress (you can always shorten but once you cut, you're committed!)... but the midi length just seems so awkward when you're in the mindset of styling things midcentury...
Thank you! I don't hem every 80's skirt I pick up, and even the black skirt from my last thrift haul I have ended up keeping the original long length for now. There were definitely midi length skirts in the earlier 1930's and then the late 1940's too, so it's not "incorrect", as it were, to have longer skirts. Another option too would be to take the skirt to a tailor to be hemmed, as I can't imagine they charge an extreme amount for such things. When hemming at home, I think it would be good to take a few safety pins and pin them along the "new" hem line length and then look at the skirt in a mirror to get a good idea of where you'd like the length, then you could totally cut yourself a wider hem, say 2 inches below where you'd like the finished length and then you'd have a little bit of wiggle room if you end up deciding it was indeed too short.
At 9:02: jodhpurs, high boots, and a very vintage "Sam Browne" rig with crossed shoulder belt and a big revolver in a vintage holster. That would certainly be a dramatic look to go with your dramatic make-up but you probably shouldn't go into a bank dressed like that. ;)
I think the blue flower shirt might be my fave. It's just so cute!! @nd is the green tropical flower shirt. (I also giggled about it being "little masc'' for me". There's such a fine line where prints can feel a little butchy even though they are typically seen as femme. And I'm impressed with the khakis. I always think I'd like them but find they are too masc' for me.
Thank you! I am usually such a "high femme" glamour kinda girl, but part of me loves denim, boots, and a nerdy tee shirt too, so I'm glad to be able to play with style and fashion all the time depending on my mood of the day :)
Fantastic video as always. You've an awesome eye for thrift. Strange question but how do keep your lipstick on, 3 seconds of me talking and it disappears in the middle and I'm left with a line lol ( yes I moisturise etc)
You don't kill dogs but you'll you'll kill vintage! Noooooo don't do it, you'll remove it from future generations to enjoy. Sorry I'm a purist like that lol Loved the vid as always! Your makeup and hair rock in this one! So suits you. 😘😘
Oh my gosh, 16 seconds into this video I have to stop and say something about how stunning your look is. That eye shadow color is DIVINE, and your brush out is just exquisite!
Thank you Erica! The eyeshadow is the minty shade from the Colourpop Just My Luck palette :)
lol me too! i was gonna say i love the makeup, then saw your comment! It looks amazing!!!!
I promise I was listening to what you’re saying, but you whole look in this vid is STUNNING!
Thank you Ayana!
The 80’s were wonderfully all over the place but I’ve always liked the business professional look for women then because they were very 1940’s inspired looking. By the way, I love you in dresses but pants/jeans really flatter your figure 😊
Thank you Andhi!
LOL I was just about to comment this! But yes, I have several 80's pieces that I pass off as mid century vintage.
Tropical green shirt is gorgeous on you, and jonpurs alteration video would be suuuper useful imo!!
Thank you Tiffany! I hope I can find some wider legged kakhi trouser more suitable to be transformed, and then I will totally document the process :)
The green eyeshadow really makes your brown eyes pop! These were beautiful finds, I really enjoyed this video. Do you know how funny you are? ♥️
Thank you Lele! I am in looove with this eyeshadow, where has mint been my whole life?
Your make up is phenomenal in this video! Love the haul and that silk floral blouse.
Thank you! I couldn't pass it up :) Even if I'll have to wait for a bit warmer weather to wear it!
Sadly I remember the '80s, I was in my '20s and yes, the '40s were back. But sadly, without Joan Crawford 😉
“StEvE jObS iF hE wAs a 50’s sChOoLgiRL” 😂😂😂😂😂
My gf has had the same lapse in scarf luck! She says it's the trend of infinity scarves that causes it. She has taken to cutting infinity scarves into square shapes so she can still use them in a vintage way.
I am always amazed how cute your thrift hauls are on! Honestly they never look like much on the hangers but you always style in the cutest ways. Very inspiring - thanks!!
Thank you Jackie!
Just started watching Agent Carter and her outfits (and also other character's outfits) are stunning! If I my hair wouldn't absolutely refuse to be curled and I was up for wearing make up on a daily basis, she'd be my style icon!

Thank you! I'm very glad you found it helpful!
"Steve Jobs if he was a 50s schoolgirl which makes absolutely no sense“, that cracked me up 😂😂
Also your hair in the beginning in combination with your makeup and earrings is giving me major Elizabeth Taylor vibes 😍

Loving the makeup you have in this video you are extra extra glowing. Can you show us your skin care regimen and the products you use.
Thank you! I promise my skin is actually not so great, I have always had quite acne prone skin and it is never near 100% clear by a long shot. Thank you Carolina!
Living for the mint green eyeshadow...and I found my "proper" mom jeans at American Eagle, and I adore them.
Thank you Anna!
The many flavors of navy are why I have never made it my basic color, even though it's more flattering than black on me. Love the collar and full sleeves on that polyester blouse BTW.
Lee jeans are GREAT.

Colourpop Villians Collection.....Go!
My palette shipped yesterday! It's on the way! I'm hoping to do some looks with it over on my other channel :)
I just picked up a near-duplicate of that grey Agent Carter-esque blouse in black a few weeks ago and it's been such a hit in public. (Mine is also polyester, which I loathe, but it's a great basic.)
Oh dang I would love one in black! That's a great find! :)
You are hilarious! I love it.
Thank you!

Please do it!! Help a girl out with those pants.
You are GORGEOUS!
Thank you!
I'm far to lazy for that !!!! :) LMAO...! Your Funny.... :) You look very nice!,. Styled the outfits, perfect! Looking Good! Love the music!
Thank you!
Awesome haul!
Thank you!
Can you made a video about how you accessorize? Maybe the same outfit with different accessories? I'm terrible at that stuff.
I have a few on the calendar planned similar to this, styling one dress several ways, so perhaps I will move them up my schedule! :)
At 9:02: jodhpurs, high boots, and a very vintage "Sam Browne" rig with crossed shoulder
belt and a big revolver in a vintage holster. That would certainly be a dramatic look to go with
your dramatic make-up but you probably shouldn't go into a bank dressed like that. ;)
Great haul!!! I love the green top!!!
Thank you Sharon!
