Negativity in these comments is exhausting. Are you guys not impressed with anything these days? The precision of this looks very good, would love to see it compared to other solutions.
i believe they are mocap gloves, but manus is marketing them as VR gloves because that seems like the bigger market. With the Lag shown here they are useless for VR, while the news headline comes through the "road to VR" newsletter.. So wrong audience = disapointed audience. my guess..
oh and its the road to vr channel too.. didnt notice
future of VR controllers will be ValveIndex knuckles with this
by now it should be handtracking by camera + wristband reading. Putting stuff on and barely doing better at some aspect than wearing nothing with quest 2, a bit meh, sadly.
Can the delay be fixed?
According to the article "The latency reflected in this setup is also purportedly not representative of the actual tracking latency." 🤞🏼
Nope. Can't break the laws of physics.
@@TemporalRecall I call bullshit.
You have trackers on the finger tips and use IK to solve the rest of the finger joints. You'll always have roughly a frame (~11ms) of delay caused by reading the inputs on start of the frame and rendering the image on the end of the frame, but it's not like that would be noticeable and is the same as in any button input based games.
The way they have delay on this, seems artificially created just to smooth out the animation. It's not like solving a hand's IK would be that taxing on modern computers that it couldn't be done easily within a frame.
LAG LAG LAG LAG.. Plus No Tactile feedback!
The latency is horrific and lack of buttons will make it useless for proper gaming. But cool I Guess.
Prediction code ruins everything. 0.5-1 sec delay. heat + power consumption.
