I didn't think it was possible to love LWA and Trigger even more than I did before this video...
I'm surprised they didn't mention the two girls named "Hannah" and "Barbera" who always hang around out each other, which is clearly a reference to the American animation studio Hanna Barbera.
Also there’s a minor female character dubbed as Avery, which is an homage to another American animator Tex Avery!
not gonna lie when i first heard of Little Witch Academia i thought it was part of or a spinoff of My Hero Academia because of the "Academia" in both titles

I watched the first episode to My Hero Academia and Little Witch Academia and thought both anime were gonna be similar since it's a kid with no quirk/magic wanting to become a hero/witch. But as you probably know they're very different but both very good anime everyone should watch.

Agree with both of you with that one. Kill La Kill was awesome (KLK got me into Trigger, it's now one of my favourite studios.) I love how they just mention it at the beginning with the thread and all, and then at the end they just literally just go "fuck it" and play the music and everything. i thought that was brilliant (along with all the other references).

I know that everyone thinks Little Witch Academia is an anime version of Harry Potter, but I see a lot of similarities to this series & The Worst Witch.
The fact that no one to my knowledge has done an AMV to "Growing Up Isn't Easy" disappoints me so much (I assume you mean a more recent incarnation, but that is where my mind jumps to).
Actually, that is the version I'm referring to. I used to watch that version of The Worst Witch all the time as a kid & I was immediately reminded of it when I first saw Little Witch Academia a few years ago. I think the main reason why there hasn't been an AMV is because there isn't a clean version of the song. Every version of "Growing Up Isn't Easy" I could find just has the characters talking over everything.
Me too, In fact it's because of this anime and comments like yours that I've been reading The Worst Witch books. They're Okay, not intriguing or thrilling as HP, but enjoyable.
That's a cute song, it would be perfect if The Worst Witch were a sitcom.
It was a TV movie & a series back in the 80s (though it wasn't a sitcom format), & they made a reboot starting this year.
As far as the books go, you need to take into account that these were written before Harry Potter even existed, so it was before people started writing thrilling or epic books like that.

Also I remember another epic cameo. In the episode Constanze and Akko participate in the ghost hunt that Akko draw a robot and Constanze build the upgrade was a reference to one of the author Yoh Yoshinari work. Tenge toppa gurren Lagan the robot with drill punch.

The characters are very likable and i find it impossible to hate them. All in all, they did a marvelous job on this one and for someone who are not into anime. I cant believe this show is extremely underrated even up until this day. Still don't understand why great animes didn't get enough recognition they deserve *sigh*
This is why Studio Trigger will always be my number one favorite anime studio! I love it when they get inspired by Weston culture and all the little things the put into the series to make it extra special! There such cool people and in a way both cultures end up inspiring each other! ^^

If you missed hidden characters in the picture I’ll tell ya 1:35 Garfield is hidden behind the green girl (srry don’t watch powerpuff girls =_=) And the blue girl (not the anime one) is one the left top corner) As you can see there is Tom but Jerry is on the right bottom corner. And spider man is right there stalking above the picture. Oh yeah Pinky and The Brain are behind Blossom ( Don’t judge I only know her! ) I like this pic find all the classic characters! So uh I live in Taunton which is set on that line thing in the video and also about 10 minutes from Glastonbury and the tor where the series/films are set. The top of the tor isn't actually a portal to an academy, it's just a church.

I remember watching this delightful short film on UA-cam back in 2013! It was like a Japanese animated Harry Potter, not that I was complaining because I really liked the Potter films! Formed by former Gainax employees, Studio Trigger really showed promise with this debut short and blew me away afterwards with Kill La Kill!
I hope someone in the UK licenses the two short films AND the new full series soon!
EP08 Slepping Sucy, also reminded me on the Teen Titans Episode Nevermore.
In that episode Beast boy and cyborg are diving in into Ravens mind.
And they meet many different emotions of Raven. Very Similiar to Akko diving into Sucy´s mind and meeting many different Sucy´s.

mr.universe It's confirmed to be coming to Netflix on June 30. But, by the time it goes up on Netflix, the series has already finished and the hype has significantly gone down. I wish Netflix Worldwide did what Netflix Japan did, put the episode on Netflix a day after the TV broadcast.
Well they ended up dubbing it and I thought it was a fantastic dub.

I also find it funny one of the animators is so hellbent on watching things with subtitles. I understand his point, but after awhile reading AND watching a show hurts my eyes, in which case I'd rather watch it dubbed in my own language.
In Sleeping Sucy, I think the Executioner Sucys are references to Pyramid Head, which is a character from Silent Hill, and if I'm correct, Silent Hill is an American film.

You forgot to mention that Yoh Yoshinari is a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. In the first short Sucy finds a doll in the pile of junk that looks to be modelled after Twilight Sparkle. In the second short Lotte has a pony figure on her desk in the dorms that resembles Rarity. On top of that, Sucy's hair style looks a lot like Fluttershy's mane style.
