First Ride 2023 Honda CRF450RX - Dirt Bike Magazine

Dirt Bike Magazine tests the 2023 Honda CRF450RX at Chocolate Mountain Ranch in Southern California. The RX models share a lot of the DNA of their motocross cousins. The obvious differences are an 18 inch rear wheel, skid plate, hand guards, a kick stand, and larger fuel tank. These will be red sticker in California as they are purposely built to be a closed course competition model only. Riders that like to do Big 6, Worcs ,GNCC, NGPC will gravitate to this bike for its motocross style performance with offroad in mind. The RX models share the same chassis as the CRF models as well. I've put mine on the road and it does need a 6th gear and an even bigger fuel tank which acerbis do for them,my old 2001 xr650r felt better on the road but was way heavier than the crf450rx overall I'm happy with it the suspension feels good to me being only 10st but I do see why some are saying it's too soft defo not soft when you snap the throttle full on😬

I have a 2021 450rx and I can say it has been an amazing bike, only complaints is the fuel tank makes the front of bike seem really wide. I also wish they would add a 6th gear, I turned mine into a super moto and made it street legal and changing the sprockets out helped but still need that 6th gear. If you’re thinking about buying one do it!

That’s awesome I’m trying to do the same I want to get a crf450rx but I don’t like the new designs I want to get the one with the twin exhausts because it’s such a nice bike. Do you know when the stopped making the twin exhausts on it?

@@Zame900 I believe 2020 was the last year they did the dual exhaust for the RX, I would highly recommend getting an RX that has the hydraulic clutch, 10/10, after having an hydraulic clutch I cannot imagine going back to cable. I’ll sell you mine lol, ready to get a sport bike.

The worrying thing is I don't think you can bump start them the older models had a kicker as well which was hand when battery was dead

Don't sit and idle too long..I swapped mine over to engine ice coolant

That's subjective, have you seen the new KTM's? These Hondas are beautiful but they're starting to look dated with the frame design.

Why doesn’t anyone give rake, trail, and wheelbase figures during these reviews? You can earn a great deal without riding the bike from those figures.
