The shot placement and timing was perfect and it took multiple shots to actually get him, so I honestly do think the same shots would finish Alex at 205, but I don't think he'd get the opportunity. I think he gets knocked out again if they fought again

I think you can still make top 15 all time argument for him (he's very easily the second best MW of all time), but I mostly agree. If he gets the belt back and either avenges his loss against Sean definitively and gets another defense OR goes up to LHW and beats Alex again, I think he's easily back in the top 8 or so.

We all love this version of "Hunter" Izzy, but the biggest difference between Rob and DDP is strength and takedown ability. You can only lean forward like that if you're confident about not being taken down, or if you feel no threat while on the ground (like a charles oliveria)
The fight that would be a better breakdown is Costa. That’s a fighter who wasn’t afraid of Izzy power, until he felt it. Sean is a tough match up because he rarely absorbs heavy strikes and he’s always coming forward. His defense is literally the best in the divisions history. He never gets hit
Costa is a not a good fighter. He lose to every top fighter. Dricus is much much better

I think too many people are doubting Izzy; he got rocked in the first round against Strickland and had trouble recovering. But look at his performances prior to that. Recency bias is real
the performances prior to that are a pereira loss, boring bland fights again cannonier/vettori, loss to whittaker (that was a robbery) and loss to jan. with the one positive exception being the pereira ko. it is not “recency bias.” it is an analysis of his performances over the past 2-3 years

Whitaker also lost a couple of Matches after being so overwhelmingly superior and on top. Don't know why everyone is so hard on Izzy he only lost like 2 fights in the UFC

So here’s the thing. Everyone expects Izzy to win and I do, but there’s just a problem that I feel DDP poses a threat to. The constant switching stances, Izzy’s never really fought a guy who has the unorthodox striking like himself. Could be like fighting in a mirror, and DDP will mix in takedowns. It’s a tough fight for sure but if he keeps it standing you have to go Izzy all day.

Unlike Bobby knuckles DDP can take an opponent down and then GNP them or go for a submission, so Izzy can't come in for attacks because that leaves him vulnerable to level changes. It's more of a Yoel Romero type fight but DDP has more output than Romero..... gonna be a fun fight. Don't agree that if the Izzy that fought against whittaker shows up will walk with a W, needs to be a different version to walk with a W
If THIS Izzy shows up to the DDP fight, it's going to be an interesting evening for DDP. Granted DDP has better wrestling than Bobby Knuckles, so we will see how that factors into play. Haven’t seen a whole lot of Izzy's ground game, so he better come prepared, cause DDP is gonna be on him like white on rice.

Strickland spammed the front kick to the body against izzy. That basically nullified izzie's faints Because it made it hard izzy to make reads. All the while strickland was moving closer and closer, Landing pot shots, then getting out of the pocket.. I hate stricklin, But that was a good strategy against izzy

Izzy has been training for DDP for a full year, and has been eyeing him for even longer. I understand why a lot of people are looking to bet on DDP and it'd be extremely impressive if he beats Adesanya, but I do not see that happening. I believe Izzy pieces up DDP and clearly beats him 4-1 or 3-2, to win by decision. Both dudes are extremely durable so I don't expect a finish. I think DDP believes he will be able to kind of bully Israel like Strickland did, use his rushing attacks, and keep Adesanya on the back foot. It's hard to prepare for a fighter like Dricus, but I believe Izzy and Eugene will have a great game plan (with plans A, B, and C) to get the win. There's not even a comparison when it comes to technique, Adesanya is levels above Du Plessis. I see technique out performing brute force...but even with the brute force on the side of Dricus Du Plessis, Izzy is looking bigger and stronger than we've ever seen. I think the beef between the two favors Israel Adesanya as well. The motivation to get the belt that he's already earned twice, isn't as motivating to him as beating DDP in a fight because of their past history. There is my thoughts that no one asked for 😅
