Thanks for confirming some stuff! A lot of people kind of watch my videos and some people said I made the truck look horrible but it actually doesn't perform the best in the world. It needs a lot of adjustments but the main thing it needs the longest suspension travel. Your video just kind of proved that as well and then that clipless body is kind of a pain to get off at times
Yeah.... I wish you the best on your testing. I however did not have great expectations for this rig in the first place. SCT is not a platform that has ever been that fun for me. but that's just me. best of luck!
I think I've made up mind on this truck, and its a no from me. I would rather put my money into other RCs and I'm sure I can buy 2 trucks for the price of this thing, get twice the content value and most likely end up with better RCs. This is another prime example of an overrated, overhyped and overpriced offering from T-brand and I'll be cancelling my preorder in due time. I really don’t understand the point of the Traxxas! It’s a lot of money and I have a Mojave 6s exb which seems to be a country mile better and costs less! So why would anyone buy one? I think a poor showing from Traxxas.
And I heard people that have both say it feels like they are watching someone else drive the Traxxas but with the ARRMA the feeling is completely different. I'm new to the Rc world and almost went with the Traxxas Maxx only thing that stop me was how they have there batteries so I ended getting a kraton and I'm glad I did I love this thing my best has the Mojave like u and that's a beast as well both great and easy to work on

Dont blame the track blame the truck! Traxxas really overpriced this thing! Not only is the truck undriveable I think it looks ugly! Looks exactly the same as the 4x4 slash body when it first came out like what? 15 years ago? They could at least made it look good when it doesnt drive good. Arrma Mohave 4s putting this to shame!
Great honest video! I havent had a chance to drive mine on a surface like that and honestly was worried it would perform like that. I have only driven on loose dirt (flat) and the street where I was pretty happy. Seeing this kinda re-affirms my fears on it. I bought mine as well so seeing it not do well kinda hurts that much more. Guess I have to try the construction site near me and feel worse.
Thought about getting one because I love my UDR but this thing is far too clumsy! It drives like crap, jumps like crap, lands like crap and has no air control I think it’s a mega fail and does harm to the slash and maxx lineup
Wait till they offer an ultimate version, it will be over $1000 lol. I suspect the secondhand market will be flooded with Max Slash used trucks in a few months time, from disappointed owners.
Awesome video. I feel traxxas has ran out of ideas as they keep releasing the same rigs with different body or jus scale up a previous chassis. Traxxas is at the bottom of the rc todem pole.
damn this thing looks like an absolute mess, shame too because that track looks like a ton of fun. looked like i was driving my mojave 4s 12 beers deep at 2am 🤣
I like mine so far. Out of the box, the suspension is way too soft, I put a set of VG racing springs on it as well as 50wt shock oil, and that helps a ton. Haven't broke anything yet, does back flips off my ramp pretty easily.
The servo saver on the maxx is pretty weak and can make the servo seem even slower than it already is. I'm sure the maxx slash is the same way even though the tires are smaller. might be something to look at.

Razor, you are fine, i go to the same bmx tracks and we have a blast with our Kraton 4s, Mojave 6s and our Gorgons, that track IS rough, big rocks and ruts, but the jumps/burms are friggin awesome when you hit em just right. Keep up the great vids.
Nice video. Ill stick with my senton 3s. Happy with my Arrma 3s senton. But not stock. Repainted the body. Trimmed wheel wells Installed proline mx-28 belted tires, extending about 3/4 inch past the body. Now its super great handling and looks killer

Watching your vids over the few months before i lept head first into this hobby i knew i had made the right decision going with Arrma. Now,6 months into it i have a 3s to 4s typhon,a3s to 4s vorteks heavily modded,2 Notorious',an exb kraton v2 and a custom Tlr typhon and let me tell you that im not a great driver yet by any means but i still get enjoyment out of each and every one of them every time i take one out and it doesnt look ,to me, i would have the same experience on this or any Traxxas. Thanks for your vids, i get yhey can be exhausting but you do it well.

Poor Maxx Slash! 😂 Looks like most SCT’s with the parachuting. I still can’t figure out why Traxxas didn’t make this on the Sledge chassis. The Maxx has always been a crappy handing vehicle and it looks like the DNA is in this truck as well.
My friend bought one and brought it over to the house to run it along side my mojave exb. He was not impressed. We swapped in an extra max6 i had on the shelf and put my stock mojave tires on it. Seemed to really help the performance. Stock kinda sucked.
So it doesn’t drive well, jump well or seem to be any fun from your frustration. Maybe the ultimate max ripoff version for $300-$500 more will make it prettier so it will be nicer to look at when it sits on the shelf. The shelf does seem to be the only place it performs. Keep up the great content.
Tip for everyone who has one,when you jump keep consistent throttle coming off the jump if you let off them pin it in the air it won’t help just keep the throttle in unless you actually need to let go
I'd put a slightly higher weight fluid in the front differential, much lower weight in the center, and much, much lower weight in rear differential. Acts like torque vectoring All Wheel Drive. Rear end won't want to get ahead of the front end. As for the rest of it, there is no more tuning to make an improvement.
I have a feeling that there is gonna be a lot of disappointed Maxx slash owners this weekend. I'm equally as sure they'll be a lot of die hard Traxxas fans who won't mind. They're just glad to get a new Traxxas model. Even this... Traxxas should have made this 8s and used the Xmaxx instead. At least that way there isn't a great alternative that cost less. It's easier to be the best when there's no competition. The closest 8s sct is the SBR2.0. I have one of those and it's a great truck but it's not and doesn't pretend to be a basher.
It seems like the landing has zero room for margin. I watched a guy today drive one around and the body seemed to hit the ground every time causing the car to hit the back of the body and tumble.
That is strange I called Traxxas they said nobody has said anything lol its not a basher not designed for these jumps but it doesn't do good driving take a turn and it just flips but the sway bars are extra I feel let down
@Sackmatters there is not a lot of suspension its a ground car little jumps its ok but not big ones check the springs too the factory has the fronts so loose the springs bounce around in the shock

If it landed on it's wheels on some of those big jumps, it would probably bounce and end up on it's roof anyway... that's what my maxx does and I just keep throwing money at it and adjusting stuff expecting different results. lol! My latest purchase were sledge shock bodies to try on the rear. I'm afraid running them on the front with CVD's will make them articulate so much that they bind and snap, like they did when I tried RPM rod ends... will try them on the rear anyway to see if it helps, but will likely change those, then leave it on the shelf for most of the season.
It would be great to see you run a "baseline" car for a few laps at each spot either at the start or end of the video. You are a great driver, so it would be good to see a comparison to a baseline, and use that baseline car in all (or several) of your videos. Not necessarily a full comparison, but take a 6s Kraton for a few laps - or whatever you most prefer and give some commentary. I'm not a stadium truck fan myself, but this maxx slash looks terrible in just about every review.
Did you try any 1/18 cars here? The wl 140017 have even smaller wheels and clearance, I think we need a review of that too there. But, Im also ok with phoning in your work, so an audio clip will suffice for every review ,IMO. Well done!!!
Maybe folks are expecting the impossible. If you think about what an SCT can do, and combine it with a basher chassis, you might come to the conclusion that it'll be fun to go really fast and stay fairly close to the ground. Now, the stock tires do seem terrible, so that's an issue, but expecting it to huck-to-flat from 10'+ up ... maybe that's not realistic.
Is any SCT really a basher? I think this thing was just desinged for driving around and enjoying it. Everyone is free to spend their discretionary dollars how they choose.
Did you watch the official Traxxas video? They show it doing backflips 20 ft high at a skatepark. Surely jumping 4-5ft high on a dirt track isn’t asking too much.
Do they not test run these before they release it? How is it possible to release a vehicle that drives this poorly when you already have an established competitor
Cant beleive how some are defending this truck, performance wise off road its pretty poor. Constantly on its roof, cart wheeling, flies very poorly & nose dives. Its just as well it is a tough truck, it needs to be for how badly it drives. Just imagine this thing in the hands of a less experience driver than Razor. Even more reason to get one of the Mojave's & save some cash into the bargain.
Problem is, that its heavy. Weight takes away all the performance of a car. Anyways, i still like it for driving over big grass fields and maybe sand. It has plenty of power on 6s.
Doesnt seem to handle that well. I like traxxas, however a mojave seems to be a better option. Even the udr is a better option as its in the same price range.

Nothing I want more than a $700 rc truck that has to stay planted on the earth. I own a wide variety of brands of rc so I’m not impartial to one or the other. I have tons of traxxas vehicles (no batteries) except the crawlers. That said, traxxas either needs to lower the prices on all the new stuff that’s probably coming or go back to the drawing room before release. I bought a Xrt ultimate only because i paid $1350 out the door and even then kinda pissed I paid that 😂 Have to take each vehicle as they drop but this is looking like a hard pass for me at this point.
Typical Traxxas mounting the heaviest thing (the motor) up high. HCG works on a Maxx/Xmaxx because of the shorter wheelbase and large tires strictly for easy wheelies and flips. Not so good for a non-monster truck.
Yeah I think it's more like a desert type flat grounded speed runs type very little jumps all videos I seen it more on its roof then nothing I can see not enjoyable sadly to say for $750 😢
Has anyone thought to carve out the windows in the Max Slash? Just curious if that might help this awful platform perform just a little better. The 4s Mojave has no windows and it doesn’t parachute half as bad as the Slash! Don’t know how to fix the jump landings. Just seems like every video i watch the truck can’t land on its wheels! Maybe some better shocks, chassis, suspension arms and the name Arrma could fix it! Nope! Just buy a Mojave!
Gee bro that was really not good like awful.....now ive seen a hell of a lot of your vids so i know 100% it ain't your driving, and i seen it from the get go. I have heard in other youbtuber vids the servo is slow and the brakes ain't the best but the way that thing just handed in there id personally be putting that thing back on the shelf and forgetting about it, which is a shame cos i love the look of it. like ive took my exb Mojave everywhere imaginable in the 3 yrs ive had it and never a issue. Yeah ive broken plenty down to my own silly decisions...... But that thing in there would have just irritated me. Now ive seen other vids where it's impressed me a little... So i dont know. Odd. I did enjoy the vid nevertheless but very tail happy and uncontrollable as you said. ❤

I work at a hobby shop and we Getting complaints on them .

Maybe folks are expecting the impossible. If you think about what an SCT can do, and combine it with a basher chassis, you might come to the conclusion that it'll be fun to go really fast and stay fairly close to the ground. Now, the stock tires do seem terrible, so that's an issue, but expecting it to huck-to-flat from 10'+ up ... maybe that's not realistic.

What was the purpose of this truck cause it's not a basher and sucks on tracks.
The slash has always been uncontrollable in the air because all the air gets hung up in the back end with no diffusion. Same way on the 1/10th.
Is any SCT really a basher? I think this thing was just desinged for driving around and enjoying it. Everyone is free to spend their discretionary dollars how they choose.
Did you watch the official Traxxas video? They show it doing backflips 20 ft high at a skatepark. Surely jumping 4-5ft high on a dirt track isn’t asking too much.
Do they not test run these before they release it? How is it possible to release a vehicle that drives this poorly when you already have an established competitor
If you were to make a track suitable for the scale and add 3 more drivers, then you could tell what it needs or doesn’t need

Cant beleive how some are defending this truck, performance wise off road its pretty poor. Constantly on its roof, cart wheeling, flies very poorly & nose dives. Its just as well it is a tough truck, it needs to be for how badly it drives. Just imagine this thing in the hands of a less experience driver than Razor. Even more reason to get one of the Mojave's & save some cash into the bargain.

Not being a fan of scts it was gonna take a lot for this to impress. It failed.
Problem is, that its heavy. Weight takes away all the performance of a car. Anyways, i still like it for driving over big grass fields and maybe sand. It has plenty of power on 6s.
I wanted to like and get this .... Now hard pass especially for 1300
So front heaven when jumping and it parachutes like the Mojave 6S. If you have the Mojave, you have this IMO 3:18
Doesnt seem to handle that well. I like traxxas, however a mojave seems to be a better option. Even the udr is a better option as its in the same price range.

Nothing I want more than a $700 rc truck that has to stay planted on the earth. I own a wide variety of brands of rc so I’m not impartial to one or the other. I have tons of traxxas vehicles (no batteries) except the crawlers. That said, traxxas either needs to lower the prices on all the new stuff that’s probably coming or go back to the drawing room before release. I bought a Xrt ultimate only because i paid $1350 out the door and even then kinda pissed I paid that 😂 Have to take each vehicle as they drop but this is looking like a hard pass for me at this point.
Typical Traxxas mounting the heaviest thing (the motor) up high. HCG works on a Maxx/Xmaxx because of the shorter wheelbase and large tires strictly for easy wheelies and flips. Not so good for a non-monster truck.
This thing cant jump! The body has some venting holes, imagine if it didnt... i think its a grass / lose sirface car only!

Yeah I think it's more like a desert type flat grounded speed runs type very little jumps all videos I seen it more on its roof then nothing I can see not enjoyable sadly to say for $750 😢

Has anyone thought to carve out the windows in the Max Slash? Just curious if that might help this awful platform perform just a little better. The 4s Mojave has no windows and it doesn’t parachute half as bad as the Slash!
Don’t know how to fix the jump landings. Just seems like every video i watch the truck can’t land on its wheels! Maybe some better shocks, chassis, suspension arms and the name Arrma could fix it! Nope! Just buy a Mojave!

Gee bro that was really not good like awful.....now ive seen a hell of a lot of your vids so i know 100% it ain't your driving, and i seen it from the get go. I have heard in other youbtuber vids the servo is slow and the brakes ain't the best but the way that thing just handed in there id personally be putting that thing back on the shelf and forgetting about it, which is a shame cos i love the look of it. like ive took my exb Mojave everywhere imaginable in the 3 yrs ive had it and never a issue. Yeah ive broken plenty down to my own silly decisions...... But that thing in there would have just irritated me. Now ive seen other vids where it's impressed me a little... So i dont know. Odd. I did enjoy the vid nevertheless but very tail happy and uncontrollable as you said. ❤
