    Had to stop your Guitar Wisdom to save money, but then I found this. Very good lesson! I am able to fix up my R37 practice. These chords are taking me a few days to get comfortable with, but then it just sinks in and feels smooth.
    Remember people you need to practice something new, then sleep well and come back the next day. You must rest and come back to see the improvement! Come back to this every day for some time and you can be comfortable with this very soon!

    I've recently started to listen to the swing era music after hearing doo-wop and I noticed that even if I'm not American or I didn't have people playing this music around me I heard it from all the cartoons movies I watched and developed some kind of a familiarity. I've been wanting to play jazz too in the past 1-2 years and apparently this a good place to begin. So this evening I wrote "how to play swing on guitar" and you popped up, thank you Mister Fujita! I'll find some Bb flat songs to play along to!

    This is more difficult than I thought it would be (to get it sounding nice) For my own application of this lesson I found it most useful to finger each of the chords and at first just strum them ‘muted’ making sure no string rung out and then I just kept strumming away, eyes closed, getting used to how it felt then slowly fretting a beat here and there and listening to how it sounded and making small corrections. I still have a ways to go but I see where I’m going - Thank you Professor 🙂

    A friend just picked up an old Ibanez dreadnaught (for $10) - and I started setting it up for him; just need the saddle and the truss rod tweaking and it’ll be damn near perfect (for jazz) - Ibanez never made a bad guitar! PS - enjoyable lesson - I guess you could alternate that I shape with the IV / V shape for a bit more tonal variety….

    Yes seems like easy but I need to try that arm action I think. Thanks for posting Tomo man! Great teacher. Really hard to mute with thumb like that if you never practice at all with thumb. I feel like the thumb here is too short! Usually just not play that low E but this is probably good to try to get used to just going across all the strings with muting. Must be different effect.

    8:00 to me, 4-note-chords has a balance element (I believe that is the perfect 5th between R and 5th note, or 3rd and 7th of no.5 chords) which create a strong feeling of music either. 3-note-chords head you to the freedom, more unbalance feelings. I prefer 3-note-chords but 4 note-chords was never bad, especially when you play acoustic or one-guitar-one-vocal.

    • @TomoFujitaMusic
      @TomoFujitaMusic  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! Basically all great! I just prefer to use 3 notes for basic rhythm guitar for 1) Left hand muting technique 2) Right hand speed attack 3) Freedom for soloing (more imagination) So less is more approach!

    Hey Tomo! Great video! It is very critical to change chords before the up strum. I have been studying this exercise for two weeks now, and chord changes are one of the hardest parts. Great tip! One thing I recognized watching your videos is that my equipment is very low tier =) I have the same guitar, which I like very much, and a Fender Frontman G10. I believe most people start with similar-tier equipment, such as Squier guitars and cheap Fender or Squier amps, especially the amps. Because small tube combo amps are at least $700-800. Can you please make a few videos about Ibanez AZES31/40, especially the pickup and string heights, and amp settings for cheap amps? Thanks a lot! Kemal

      @@TomoFujitaMusic I can't believe you bought that amp =) Actually, I saw Fender Frontman G10 in one of your videos today. In the video, you played a $129 guitar with the Frontman and with a $6000 amp. My impression was that Frontman 10G is a very limited amp in terms of tone. It was designed to be a cheap, practical amp for home use and beginners. Just get better quickly and buy a better amp =) Although, I am curious about what it may turn into in your hands =)

      @@TomoFujitaMusic I was about to ask in the Guitar Wisdom forum ! , My question is more related to how to get that super clean sound , you are muting the other strings with any finger ?
      Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your guitar wisdom has helped me to see my guitar for a completely different angle, a better one.
      Thank you Fujita Sensei 🙏🏻

    Thank you very much Tomo Sama, I appreciate your knowledge.
    Can you help me understand why the first two strings are tunned in thirds instead of fourths?
    I'm a drummer bass player that is learning guitar and those two strings make no sense to me in thirds and I know there has to be a reason.

    The new Ibanez AZ’s you helped design must be selling really well ! I have been trying to get one over here in Australia for the last two weeks but no one has any stock or any idea of when they will be getting more :(
    Tell Ibanez to ship some more to Sydney Australia ;)

    Thank you for the lesson Tomo. But, I don't get it. Why is it called root, third, seventh? Based on the degrees of the major scale? The root is Bd. The third note of the Bd major scale is D, I get that. But, when you play the Bd7 chord the notes are Bd, G# and D notes. G# is not in the Bd major scale. Why not play A note, which is the seventh note in the Bd major scale. Music theory is so confusing sometimes.

    • @multicromo
      @multicromo 11 місяців тому

      Nevermind, I figured it out. A dominant 7th chord is made up of the scale degrees 1-3-5-d7
