    Mike Cohen, from the Center for Brain Training in Florida, describes what neurofeedback is, how it's different from other brain-related options, and how brain training can help people gain better control of attention, emotions, behavior, and performance. A tremendous amount of research supports the benefits of neurofeedback for autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, migraines, seizures, brain injury, addiction, RAD, and more. I've been using neurotherapy for a few weeks. I've suffered several concussions and have had insomnia most of my life. I noticed my stress levels to subside significantly and I was sleeping better after just 2 treatments. I have frequent headaches that quickly go away during treatment. There is a ton of research on neurotherapy, my husband and I just purchased more than a dozen books on the subject, it's fascinating and I believe it to work, it does have a proven success rate.

    There are a variety of different type of neurofeedback systems and approaches. LENS is one, which we use in our center, along with several other types of neurofeedback. Our hope is that people looking for neurofeedback find providers of neurofeedback who are knowledgeable in the use of the tool they use and who work well with the client.

    Awesome video! However... as my own opinion, this is a training that should become freely available to the public for which everybody may have a much healthier mindset whereas more people can figure out how to further improve this brain training technique in being aware of such a much-safer-than-meds innovation.

    Can anyone explain me something that I can't understand concerning NF? In case of ADHD the goal is alertness/concentration. What is the goal in case of depression, migraine etc? In this situations the picture fades out when you feel unhappy or have a migraine?

    • @michellemellis
      @michellemellis 4 роки тому

      There are different types of neurofeedback, but NeurOptimal differs from other forms in that there is no object to push the brain toward a predefined 'normal', rather, the goal is to help the brain see its own patterns and open the way for the brain to stop those patterns that cause addictions, depression, sleep issues, chronic pain, etc. It sounds a little abstract, but it *really* works!

    how do we know the perfect brain pattern?. On which pattern is the feedback corrected upon?. Does there exist a perfect brain wave pattern?

    • @danjepaunce
      @danjepaunce 8 років тому +3

      Actually, it is not about "perfect" brain pattern. Brain activity can be detected by wavees and there is four, basic brain rhytm such as alfa (caracterized for relax state, waken, but not focused or excited, frequency between 8-13 Hz). Waves between 13-15 Hz is state also called SMR sensomotory rhytm. There is also beta (focus, lerning state), LowBeta 16-19 Hz (e.q problem solving), HiBeta 19-36 Hz (agitation). This is simple classification. So, it is important to understand how NFB is functioning. Every act such as learning, thinking, mind organising etc., needs brain to be in "stand by state". Not to be depressed, nor in agitation. So, this is for begining, and this is SMR-sensomotory rhytm, we can describe as "stand by", between relax state and state when you are ready to process information from environment (read, learn, talk, do some tasks). It is always recommended to start with General Instability Protocol (place electrodes on C3 and C4 places on patient skull), to try to learn/induce desirable brain pattern such as SMR, if it is possible, by self-regulatory ability of the brain. After some number of C3-C4 sessions, certificated NFB pratictioner will decide which frequences have to be trained further. This is very, very simple explanation about the basic principles, If you want to learn more, read about operant (instrumental) learning which is related to basic principles of NFB functioning. I hope this was helpful.

      Stjepan Jelica. Can you provide empirical evidence of a data sample of population used to proof that brain activity can be accommodated within four (4) buckets of linear frequencies such as the ones you have described? Can the human brain be measured linearly or follows an stochastic approach?

    • @michellemellis
      @michellemellis 4 роки тому +6

      You have had no replies to your question, and that is because after over 20 years and tens of thousands of sessions, the most negative reaction to NeurOptimal sessions is temporary sleepiness - and even that doesn't happen often. My family bought a unit for our personal use 5 years ago and has seen nothing but good - dyslexia gone, speech issues gone, ADD gone, explosive emotions gone. We are all more grounded, peaceful, and get along better together - and this is a household with 5 active children!! As a business owner, I am more organized, less stressed, less distracted, more focused, and much more efficient with my time. We love our machine. My biggest challenge is convincing others that it really can create the space for their brains to make the changes we ourselves have witnessed. No one thinks something so simple can effect such powerful changes. But it absolutely has, and can!
