@Mattia love your video's! We are in El Salvador collecting plastic from rivers and next month we are going to start collecting, shredding and even producing new products ( like surf fins). For now we are working via other foundations but we want to start a new foundation.
Do you know if we can use the name precious plastic El salvador as a company name?
Saludos and thank you so much for all the amazing content!

The products look so cool, and even though it's a pity that their machinery is not open source, they are still making a positive impact by recycling more plastic :)

The PP movement is broadly in a boutique to small industrial break out phase. With any startup (but especially a ground breaking startup) there is great risk at the point of establishing the market: once proven, other folks see opportunity, taking advantage of the trail already blazed... but without the cost of exploration. The financials of Plastiz is a perfect example- their activities are not yet self-sustaining: there is no margin to give to competition, however noble that might be.

It Is not a noblesse snobbish thing. It Is cultural. For example in Italy we had Olivetti, a Company that has had a huge cultural impact on the industry. Many modern succesful startups, even open source ones like Arduino, has been greatly inspired by the likes of Olivetti. Not to mention the cultural impact on the broad public, that can change industries with their buying choices. Also in Italy we had an example of that when people no longer liked/allowed to be fed with lot of palms oil into biscuits and snacks and the industry had to put butter/cream back again in their products to stay on the market

I agree. Altruistic intent is a very noble foundation, and also, I consider it wise to become economically sustainable so that one is able to stay in business to continue blazing new trails.

I really enjoyed the video and I wish I could partner with a couple of friends to start my own Precious Plastic branch in the south of Spain. Keep these videos up to show us how others are doing all over the place!

I think it’s funny that plastiz doesn’t want to open source what they’re doing. There is very little competition to recycle plastic here in the states.

We've been pushing for that, they'd be open but it costed them A LOT of money to develop the Sheeetpress further. We'd need quite a bunch of money to make it happen

the stuff looks nice a bit like terrazzo , it would make nice tiles for flooring , if it wasnt for the fact that they wear out / grow dull / release microplastics intoo the enviroment after being walked over constandly , maibe use it as wallcovering instead (indoors as it will likely grow moss and be affected by uv light outside )
you might be able to make the material intoo a little more rough and open structure and make roofing tiles that are made to eventually grow over with mos making it blend intoo nature (the way i would go about it is make a solid base and melt the more course material intoo the top of that so its still strong and waterproof ) the moss covering should protect the plastic against the sun though it will still dissintegrate from the force of the roots going through the material being hit by rain hail , temperature differences and fateque

Moss doesn't have true roots. Their hairlike rhizomes help attach them to whatever substrate.

you do realize that carpets and alot of flooring available today is made of plastic and fibers from carpet get torn and fly into the air we breathe.

Nice project, bit sad to get inspired by open source project, get all data and work from other and considering your time and money more valuable.
Well, some one gonna get less greedy and gonna share it soon i guess ;)
