However, he also did many things I appreciated in his later years, such as bring back Toonami, revive Cartoon Planet for the 20th anniversary, kept Boomerang the same, and focus on more original content such as Regular Show and Steven Universe. His first few years were definitely rough, but in his later years he was able to make the channel once again the “Best Place for Cartoons”. I would take the Snyder Era any day over the Miller era.

I’m really glad they Snyder hired the late Dwayne McDuffie as the head writer and showrunner of Alien Force to Ultimate Alien. From Seasons 1 and 2 he brought the up his strength to rise of Ben 10 franchise with great characters, story arcs, tone and action. Snyder then made a huge by letting Cartoon Network head staffs force the writers to change Ben’s personalities and the writers like Matt Wayne, Charlotte Fullerton and Dwayne we’re not originally hired to do that. They never intended to write something like that. Ben should have stayed matured and get stronger and wiser rather than regressing him.
Cartoon Network, like Universal Pictures, fails when they don't recognize their history. Both have a huge back catalog of media that dates back nearly a century, yet keep thinking the new stuff is all people want. This is something the big conglomerate that is Disney lafks even with all it acquisitions and is the only way they can compete.
The Miller era is fucking horrible. Sure synders era had ups and downs but he wasn't as bad as Christina Miller. We need jim Samples to come back to cartoon network. I miss the Cohen and samples era those were the golden days of cartoon network
+Qunicy Holman Yeah! And that first LIVE-ACTION/animated Cartoon Network original movie ("Re-Animated"), premiered on the channel BEFORE of his dismission due to the 2007 Boston Bomb Scare scandal. That famous premiere date of it was December 8, 2006.
I was kind of indifferent to Snyder era. I was disappointed when CN City ended along with the classic cartoons with it, and I was totally confused when they started showing Live Action shows. But I didn't totally hate that era of Cartoon Network. It was a time when the show had some hits and some misses. The acquired programming (6 teen, Total Drama, and the early Johnny Test shows) were quite a refreshing change for the network and The originals (Chowder, Misadventures of Flapjack, and Ben 10 Alien Force) were some of the best shows of CN at that time.
This was an ok era and I didn’t care for it much since that was the time I was in high school. Are there any other videos with in-depth look into other Cartoon Network eras?
ElementalIguana Today's era of Cartoon Network sucks. Teen Titans Go! airs all the time, The PowerPuff Girls and Ben 10 reboots were disgraces to the originals, and all the good shows get screwed over constantly.
2:00 - 2:17 Those examples he gives. Guess where most of those shows come from? CANADA. You wanna know which animation studio was the most interested in getting all its content from Canada specifically? Nick. Eventually that changed where the paradigm shifted to CN since shows that are traditionally animated in flash 99/100 come from Canada some shows come from France and are even redubbed in America (Miraculous Lady Bug, Code Lyoko, Totally Spies) but you wanna know where those dubbing processes take place? CANADA! Flash is the second cheapest animation style right there with Cal-Arts.
I subscribed to your channel of how much i like your videos, my favorite being the Cartoon Networks videos particularly the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays Video you made last Mouth.
I have mixed thoughts fir the Snyder era. The first have of the Snyder era was pretty bad from 2007-2009. This was mainly because of our of Jimmy’s head ( which began with samples), adult swim seven nights a week, Tom 4 screwed with toonami leading up to the block’s cancellation in September 2008, older good shows like Foster’s and KND ending, CCF was replaced by the atrocious fried dynamite/ dynamite action squad, live action movies played more than ever, CN real readjusting in no CN originals being released in 2009, Canadian cartoons, ( well CN has really been domed since post mid 2005-2007), a few good shows like chowder, clone wars, and flapjack but a lot of bad shows like George of the jungle and league of super evil. Oh and I forgot to mention, their were most days in 2008-2009 that CN would air Johnny test nonstop. Then in 2010 CN got good again by making good cartoons. But the damage has already been done, many cartoon creators moved on, and made other shows for different companies, and CN still continued to air live action shows after the death of CN real. What I really didn’t like was adult swim premiering at 9pm and 8pm. The Miller era was even worse because of nonstop TTG, the new boomerang, and CN losing the rights to pokemon, and now with the new president, CN announced that their bringing back live action shows. Overall great vid. Here’s to hoping that one day CN will get their shit together. 🥂
I was born and watched cn in synder era I still watched many classic like Adventure Time Regular show Secret Saturdays Powerpuff girls Generator x Ben 10 Pokemon ( not sure I it aired in your country) Beyblade Dbz Kai Johnny bravo 3 am Chowder. Amazing world of gumball. Johnny test Redkai
Back then we had destroy build destroy, the high fructose adventures of the annoying orange, and regular show, and nowadays it's teen titans go, total dramarama, and mao mao. It's like as if cartoon network became from a channel that targeted toward teenagers to a channel that targeted to toddlers.
That was not the best era at all. The classic 90s and 2000s eras were the best ones. This era had some gems, but it still wasn't great, and no we do not need Snyder back.
I don't remember Mega Man Starforce, Chaotic, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Metajets, or Scan 2 Go AT ALL! I knew the rest of the acquired shows though. Out of all the acquired shows, I only saw a handful of episodes of Redakai.
man looking at this video i feel like all of this was just yesterday. a lot of good shows got canned and lot of bad shows continue to air till this day, it's been a bumpy ride but an interesting one none the less. also bring back tower prep since it was actually a good live action show.
Wait... according to the dates I must have almost completely stopped watching Cartoon network at 13 - 14 in other words around 2012. Then within two - three years after that not ever watching cable and instead using... questionable methods of watching stuff combined with netflix.... Interesting given I never really look back at the years and the changes in my behavior. Then that means I started using a UA-cam account in 2015 after previously using bookmarks rather than subs + a account.
Ranting Otter I gave up on them last year for online streaming, UA-cam and Kimcartoon, I am willing to return to watching the channel but I won't come back unless they completely remove 100% Teen Titans Go from the channel, yeah its a little unreasonable but fuck it why give up streaming 24/7 cartoons live of what I want to watch without commercials for a channel that has even a few TTG reruns? And I also want their new shows to be any good which they look okay but I am honestly not really impressed by anything they have coming this year
Weather u love Snyder or hate him at least he showed he cared about the networks unlike miller who only cares about how the Cartoon Network brand is received by the internet community not caring if the channels go down in the process I'm not saying he is perfect but I can tell he was trying and he kept holiday traditions like showing Christmas episodes of the shows on the network and son specials and we got still go the Christmas Eve marathon of Christmas specials and episodes like we always get under miller all we get when a holiday rolls around is more doubling down on that dumpster fire teen titans go as prove they have Been showing promos for an opposite titans thing they are doing for Monday
I'll give him this, he tried his hardest to reverse what he did wrong. All in all with the Miller era about to end, he left a pretty revived and solid channel, i think he corrected most of his faults.
I’m surprised you didn’t touch more on Beware the Batman, and the unique manner CN treated it, with it being cancelled in 2013, but the second half of the series airing on Toonami in 2014, and how that was almost sabotaged by CN not letting the block know about writing the series off. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the thing that got Snyder kicked out. I mean, killing off a Batman property like that? Not to mention the timing.
In my opinion, the first few years (2008,2009, part of 2010) were so awful that my interest in cartoons died for a bit, until the resurgence in 2010/2011 to 2014, where it got really good again
As far as Good Shows being introduced to CN, That ended in 2011 with Gumball and the others with the exception of Level Up that ended in 2013. Then the other show that is a exception is Rick and Morty on Adult Swim.
CN had a very, VERY rough start(why did he allow live action to be a thing, whyyyyyyy) while he was president but he did eventually turn CN around for the better, hell I'd even say I preferred the Snyder era over what the Miller era has been, there were at least some decent shows here and there in between all the shit, Miller just plays TTG and Gumball over and over.
I believe that the reason why CN Real existed was because Cartoon Network wanted to compete with its competitors on live-action. Snyder was just experimenting on this, even though this channel is bent on only cartoons. CN Real would be better if it was a separate channel.
This the only video about cartoons or any kind of compilation that talks about Secret Saturdays or at least mentions it and that is becouse it was aired in thise years. I really loved it but how is it possible that even those really obscure ones that I didn't know existed get recognised but SS which had a complex plot villains charachter development and twist doesn't even get included enywhere unless I actually type secret Saturdays and get afew that talk about it specifically...🙁😖😞😢
The thing about Chowder and Flapjack is you never really learn to appreciate either of those shows until much later in life because they're genuinely funny shows the issue why they were usually seen in a more negative light back when they 1st originally aired was because it was not only just because of the massive overhaul CN was pointlessly putting itself thru it was namely because the live action outweighed the actual animation on the block because CN wanted in on that market that Nick and Disney successfully capitalize on by using child actors to triple their quarterly profits on shows that namely have a budget of nothing and since these shows don't require them to outsource their animation teams to Korea where the animators in question are given vague concepts on what to work with because the companies in question are too lazy to send them model sheets AND deadlines need to be made (which does not explain the endless hiatuses a lot of shows end up going thru) Those shows have flaws don't get me wrong. You can look at those shows as foundations for this fucking meme format that a lot of companies are abusing because again...it saves them money and fuck paying a Western Animation Team when we can just rely on Korean Slave Labor. Its fucking disgusting. I'm talking about cal-arts. Cal-Arts shows seem to all be comedies or Slice of Life Shows with comedy elements added to them. They all seem to follow an identical art style as well as tone because its easier to rely on the lowest common denominator because and I keep saying this...demographically this makes them more MONEY We're long past the point where the standard was the money will come if the effort for the show in question draws in its demographic. ((Certain Executives)) don't like waiting for that money especially when it revolves around them doing their fucking jobs and paying their fucking employees a decent wage not fucking outsource to an animation sweatshop in fucking Korea. Walt Disney when he was alive had the fucking common decency to at least keep his animation studio in America but that all changed when Walt died and since Disney was the 1st to start doing this whole outsourcing animation bullshit this is why the current state of the industry is why it is right now. Its depressing.
This era was really good yes i said really good it had alot of good shows like chowder total drama regular show amazing world of gumball seasons 1-3 ben 10 alien force scooby doo and generator rex
This was my childhood I loved CN's shows from 2008-2013. Everything now is garbage and shouldn't even be on that channel, Teen Titan's go sucks but CN doesn't seem to get the hint that a lot of people hate it more than people like it.
The shows from 2008-2009 ranged from just okay to crap. It wasn't actually great until 2010. Also, the whole "every cartoon show sucks nowadays" is subjective, not factual. This is every clichéd line someone with nostalgia goggles always says. Also, there is no real proof that more people hate it than like it. People on the internet are still the vocal minority. Cartoon Network isn't exactly at the best state right now, but honestly, it's better now than what it was in the late 2000s, easily.
Cant lie. The original Total Drama Island was a favorite of mine. My family watched Survivor and I didn't care for it. I loved TDI though. Same with 16.

Both have a huge back catalog of media that dates back nearly a century, yet keep thinking the new stuff is all people want. This is something the big conglomerate that is Disney lafks even with all it acquisitions and is the only way they can compete.
The synder era was a big part of my childhood even though I mostly didn't watch TV back then
Why this era first though? I would love a video on the first two eras.
I'll definitely get to the Cohen & Samples eras at some point
I'll definitely get to the Cohen & Samples eras at some point
athemocracy ok
The Miller era is fucking horrible. Sure synders era had ups and downs but he wasn't as bad as Christina Miller. We need jim Samples to come back to cartoon network. I miss the Cohen and samples era those were the golden days of cartoon network
damn his era sounds really good compared to whats going on now
Thanks for crediting my friend, Enzo
I grew up during the Snyder era. I know it gets a lot of shit, but it’s way better compared to now.
Synder era had some of best cartoon and anime and good show. It many action show.
Whenever I watched CN during this time, I couldn't help but miss what came before...
Samples Era is the best Era
Agreed
+Qunicy Holman Yeah! And that first LIVE-ACTION/animated Cartoon Network original movie ("Re-Animated"), premiered on the channel BEFORE of his dismission due to the 2007 Boston Bomb Scare scandal. That famous premiere date of it was December 8, 2006.
I honestly liked this era
I Miss This Era,It Was Awesome,I Want Snyder Back
It wasn't completely great aside from some shows, and nah, we don't need Snyder back.
Owen Concorde check his channel.
The Nood Era was good
Parker Young Ok but I still say the Nood Era is the best
The Nood commercials were cute but weren’t as fun to watch as the CN City ads.
I LOVE *REGULAR SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!*
A very meh Era. It did have a few gems in it, though.
Monkey D. "Straw Hat" Luffy You're thinking of today's era of Cartoon Network.
ElementalIguana Today's era of Cartoon Network sucks. Teen Titans Go! airs all the time, The PowerPuff Girls and Ben 10 reboots were disgraces to the originals, and all the good shows get screwed over constantly.
ElementalIguana
Yeah, this Era was kinda meh. Today is just trash.
2:00 - 2:17
Those examples he gives.
What's "meh"
I subscribed to your channel of how much i like your videos, my favorite being the Cartoon Networks videos particularly the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays Video you made last Mouth.
I miss the Snyder era
I regret to be happy when Snyder got fired. Fuck me!
I freaking loved mixels as a kid and I still do till this day and I also love bakugan
You should do a review of The Betty Cohen era of Cartoon Network
Most of this sounds amazing!
The Mr Men Show was actually very successful here in the UK where the Reruns of the British dubbed version THRIVED!!
lol, this era is heaven compared to what we have today
I was born and watched cn in synder era I still watched many classic like
Adventure Time
Regular show
Secret Saturdays
Powerpuff girls
Generator x
Ben 10
Pokemon ( not sure I it aired in your country)
Beyblade
Dbz Kai
Johnny bravo 3 am
Chowder.
Amazing world of gumball.
Johnny test
Redkai
Back then we had destroy build destroy, the high fructose adventures of the annoying orange, and regular show, and nowadays it's teen titans go, total dramarama, and mao mao. It's like as if cartoon network became from a channel that targeted toward teenagers to a channel that targeted to toddlers.
I know right to be fair I feel like Gumball and Mao Mao are the only shows all family members can en
Didn’t care for “CN Real” all that much, but the Snyder era is my favorite era. I enjoyed all of the shows!
Not all of them were great.
2010-2013 was the best era of CN. We need Snyder back
Yaroslav B how? This was literally CN in life support
2012 was the last best cartoon to produce good shows it was like 50% good after 2013 was trash completely
That was not the best era at all. The classic 90s and 2000s eras were the best ones. This era had some gems, but it still wasn't great, and no we do not need Snyder back.
Good retrospect of the Stuart Snyder era of cartoon network,Can you do one one on Jim Samples.TBH I prefer Stuart Snyder era over Miller.
I got the good the bad and the trashy all in all i got some nostalgia in at the beginning
Hey! Wondering your take on Stuff with scout fly's spiral into edginess
And I also want their new shows to be any good which they look okay but I am honestly not really impressed by anything they have coming this year
雪山 Your comment just made my night by little. Lol
Snyder started out bad but he turned around
I'll give him this, he tried his hardest to reverse what he did wrong. All in all with the Miller era about to end, he left a pretty revived and solid channel, i think he corrected most of his faults.
Secret Mountain Fort Awesome was based on the Uncle Grandpa pilot, meaning SMFA never got officially cancelled.
I have to say gumball is the best show fucking ever hilarious yet witty
Could you do a Cohen & Samples video?
I’m surprised you didn’t touch more on Beware the Batman, and the unique manner CN treated it, with it being cancelled in 2013, but the second half of the series airing on Toonami in 2014, and how that was almost sabotaged by CN not letting the block know about writing the series off. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the thing that got Snyder kicked out. I mean, killing off a Batman property like that? Not to mention the timing.
I'd rather have the Synder era than this era now tbh
I watch Cartoon Network when I was 5 or 6 and I loved it the movies the cartoons I watched it
In my opinion, the first few years (2008,2009, part of 2010) were so awful that my interest in cartoons died for a bit, until the resurgence in 2010/2011 to 2014, where it got really good again
I knew Will Arnett was the narrator of the network during the Snyder/Noods era. Cause I recognize his voice.
Do you have a podcast?
I believe that the reason why CN Real existed was because Cartoon Network wanted to compete with its competitors on live-action. Snyder was just experimenting on this, even though this channel is bent on only cartoons. CN Real would be better if it was a separate channel.
It cancelled all the good shows
It's a cool coincidence that I remember this era the most considering my last name is snyder.(the era with those white characters)
Objectively the best Cartoon Network era, hands down. (or at least the last good one)
the problem isn't just cartoon network
it's American television in general
This the only video about cartoons or any kind of compilation that talks about Secret Saturdays or at least mentions it and that is becouse it was aired in thise years. I really loved it but how is it possible that even those really obscure ones that I didn't know existed get recognised but SS which had a complex plot villains charachter development and twist doesn't even get included enywhere unless I actually type secret Saturdays and get afew that talk about it specifically...🙁😖😞😢
Awesome CEO.
The thing about Chowder and Flapjack is you never really learn to appreciate either of those shows until much later in life because they're genuinely funny shows the issue why they were usually seen in a more negative light back when they 1st originally aired was because it was not only just because of the massive overhaul CN was pointlessly putting itself thru it was namely because the live action outweighed the actual animation on the block because CN wanted in on that market that Nick and Disney successfully capitalize on by using child actors to triple their quarterly profits on shows that namely have a budget of nothing and since these shows don't require them to outsource their animation teams to Korea where the animators in question are given vague concepts on what to work with because the companies in question are too lazy to send them model sheets AND deadlines need to be made (which does not explain the endless hiatuses a lot of shows end up going thru)
Those shows have flaws don't get me wrong. They all seem to follow an identical art style as well as tone because its easier to rely on the lowest common denominator because and I keep saying this...demographically this makes them more MONEY
We're long past the point where the standard was the money will come if the effort for the show in question draws in its demographic.
Snyder had prepared the boomerang rebrand
"Why would live action shows come to cartoon network when its called "Cartoon Network?"
Can you talk about the "new wave" era?
I know Miller is still in but you should do a continuation of it showing what's up now cause this was very intersting instead of feeling based.
Can you do the Miller era?
Nice video thanks
CN Real, I got to say is you forgot one more show, The Hole in the Wall
ThunderGodMaster only show I liked on cn real
I still think Jim Samples (if he wasn't fired) would still brought TV-PG shows, but it would've still greenlit TV-Y7 anyways
@@leoprince691 "I'm sorry friend I can hardly speak English" - Arthur Morgan
If it wasn’t for hole in the wall, I wouldn’t have even known Cartoon Network really
Cant lie. The original Total Drama Island was a favorite of mine. My family watched Survivor and I didn't care for it. I loved TDI though. Same with 16.
I'm kinda sad I grew up mostly in the snyder era. Those few years before were so nice :')
what editor do you use?
Final Cut Pro
I remember the incredible crew. I pretty much liked how there was edible deodorant for some reason. It was all I could remember.
Stuart Snyder Was Better Than Christina Miller
Who wants stuart snyder back.
@perseus brown I do
Oh hey! This video is now 2 years old!
The Miller Era's about to end. Maybe we can get a new Cohen like era?
I wish someone with a fucking brain would step in and take over and undo the horrors of the Miller era.
Clive Mercer Hopefully After the AT&T Merger someone does.
wait chaotic was a thing on cartoon network i never knew that wow
