Cartoon Network will always hold a special place in my heart, since it's the reason why I started learning English. For whatever reason, the TV at my grandma's had the English-speaking Cartoon Network among the channels it was playing. It was my first major contact with a foreign language. (The realization that not all people in the world speak Polish blew my four-years-old mind). And so, I learnt my first word in English ("blue") thanks to "The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound".
Yeah, I guess many kids have this moment of realization during their childhood. Thought nowadays communities get less and less homogeneous so children learn about other cultures much earlier that in the 90's.
Man, Ed Edd and Eddy was such a solid show. Definitely one of my childhood favorites. The writing, the slapstick, the humor overall, it was all great. And the animation always fascinated me. I just love how stylized it is, trying to emulate how a child may draw a cartoon. Especially fitting given the main theme of childhood the show has going. It's just a fun show all around.
Ah, Ed, Edd n' Eddy... I could talk about how much I adore this show, easily not just my favourite Cartoon Network show but my favourite show of all time, I NEVER get tired of it
That show reminds me a lot of the Tex Avery stuff that is just slapstick and good characters. I like that type of cartoon where the character designs are different silhouettes, colors and mannerisms. Ed Edd and Eddy is that type in a nutshell.
I'm so glad AniMat talked about the early 1990s Cartoon Network. Such as MGM cartoons, Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Tom and Jerry, Popeye, and Looney Tunes. Not many people even talked about and only start off with Cartoons Cartoons era where we had Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken, and etc. Especially during their rant video. AniMat, you have my like and your subscriber!
Your video gave me a sensation of nostalgia with all the clips from the pilots aired on What a Cartoon! I'm still impressed by the effort you put to make these Lookbacks feel grand. Can't wait for more.
It's funny that I never made the connection to Johnny and Linus. The more I think of it, Johnny is practically the anti-Linus! When Linus would carry a comfy blanket, speak words of wisdom and have a full head of hair, Johnny was the exact opposite!
I was born in 90 I can remember a lot of the early stages of CN. It brings back so much nostalgia watching this. Ed, Edd N Eddy will always be my favorite cartoon series of all time.
Good Animation Lookback video! I remember Ed, Edd, n Eddy! That was a great show! Hope you talk about Samurai Jack, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Chowder in Part 2! :)
From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for giving some information that know nothing about Cartoon Networks golden age a taste of glory, for it is a glorious network in it's graceful pride... I'm sure everyone here remembers CN and how truly great of a network it was... I loved it so much. It was knowledgeable, funny, charming, and above all... Dignified and respectable. Because of this network I have ever since been dreaming about being an animator one day... It changed my life career choice. It's not only a funny little toon to pass the time with, it's a delicate piece of art that can be shared for generations to pass by. It's inspiring, it's nostalgic, and it's beautiful. Only some animators that actually cares wanted to show the glimmering grace of the olden toons of yesteryear, and it makes me still have hope for society still... You-tubers like you that want to educate the public that may not know of this wonderful, artistic wonderland are a once and a lifetime occurrence. Thank you for making this video. My little cousin might want to get in on this... So i'll show them right now. Maybe he'll enjoy it too. And if society would decide to look back upon it and actually think of what it all was. Maybe they'll enjoy it as well.
This is the absolute best recap of the history of Cartoon Network. I watch this whole playlist all the time. Cartoon Network was my childhood. Cartoon Network and waking up on Saturday mornings to watch 4Kids and KidsWB shows are my absolute best memories. I wish I could relive them so much. We need a pioneer like Betty Cohen again to bring CN back to its glory days.
You Know, I'm Quite Surprised Animat Didn't Talk About Ed Edd N Eddy's Animation Director "Paul Boyd", Even Though He Passed Away Before The Sixth Season Episodes "May I Have This Ed?", & "Look Before You Ed" Aired.
Animat, nice video and I would like to see a follow up sequel more about William Street/Adult Swim because they did helped a lot on Cartoon Network like making Toonami block, having a large part of adult animation, and shows like Aqua Teen, Harvey Birdman, Robot Chicken, and Rick and Morty being a large part of the channel's history.
Ed Edd n Eddy = One of Ocean Studios finest voiceover projects! And yes, Erin Fitzgerald used to do voice work at Ocean Studios before moving to California in the early 2000's.
