Cartoon Network will always hold a special place in my heart, since it's the reason why I started learning English. For whatever reason, the TV at my grandma's had the English-speaking Cartoon Network among the channels it was playing. It was my first major contact with a foreign language. (The realization that not all people in the world speak Polish blew my four-years-old mind). And so, I learnt my first word in English ("blue") thanks to "The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound".

Yeah, I guess many kids have this moment of realization during their childhood. Thought nowadays communities get less and less homogeneous so children learn about other cultures much earlier that in the 90's.

Man, Ed Edd and Eddy was such a solid show. Definitely one of my childhood favorites. The writing, the slapstick, the humor overall, it was all great. And the animation always fascinated me. I just love how stylized it is, trying to emulate how a child may draw a cartoon. Especially fitting given the main theme of childhood the show has going. It's just a fun show all around.

Tixontoxin 64 EE&E was the ultimate representation of childhood and that’s why it was amazing. It took simple things and made it amazing.

That show reminds me a lot of the Tex Avery stuff that is just slapstick and good characters. I like that type of cartoon where the character designs are different silhouettes, colors and mannerisms. Ed Edd and Eddy is that type in a nutshell.

It's funny that I never made the connection to Johnny and Linus. The more I think of it, Johnny is practically the anti-Linus! When Linus would carry a comfy blanket, speak words of wisdom and have a full head of hair, Johnny was the exact opposite!

For some additional context: Aqua Teen Hunger Force was also a C2C spin-off, as they first appeared in the Season 8 episode "Baffler Meal."

I'm so glad AniMat talked about the early 1990s Cartoon Network. Such as MGM cartoons, Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Tom and Jerry, Popeye, and Looney Tunes. Not many people even talked about and only start off with Cartoons Cartoons era where we had Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken, and etc. Especially during their rant video.

From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for giving some information that know nothing about Cartoon Networks golden age a taste of glory, for it is a glorious network in it's graceful pride... I'm sure everyone here remembers CN and how truly great of a network it was... I loved it so much. It was knowledgeable, funny, charming, and above all... Dignified and respectable. Because of this network I have ever since been dreaming about being an animator one day... It changed my life career choice. It's not only a funny little toon to pass the time with, it's a delicate piece of art that can be shared for generations to pass by. It's inspiring, it's nostalgic, and it's beautiful. Only some animators that actually cares wanted to show the glimmering grace of the olden toons of yesteryear, and it makes me still have hope for society still... You-tubers like you that want to educate the public that may not know of this wonderful, artistic wonderland are a once and a lifetime occurrence. Thank you for making this video. My little cousin might want to get in on this... So i'll show them right now. Maybe he'll enjoy it too. And if society would decide to look back upon it and actually think of what it all was. Maybe they'll enjoy it as well.

I remember when I first saw Cartoon Network. It must have been right after it started because I was really young. I was like "MOOOOOM! THERE'S A CARTOON NETWORK!" I still miss the older days, but I do enjoy some of the newer cartoons xD

    Ah, yes...Boomerang.
I remember when I was little, I didn't really watch just anything that showed up on screen. I'd just sit on the couch at night and watch Dexter's Laboratory, then The Powerpuff Girls, and finally, Teen Titans. 😊

Technically, the older WB cartoons and Poepye cartoons were part of the MGM library that Turner kept in 1986.

Space Ghost Coast to Coast only 110 episodes in 10 years? Ed, Edd, & Eddy a hit with only 69 episodes over 6 seasons? I thought hits had 13 episode seasons.
Well done on part 1, AniMat! Looking forward to other six. Now that I can binge ;p

We never got an adult swim block in the UK. There was 'CNX' for about a year but it was probably not cost effective to run a whole channel exclusively for that kind of content. It may have get more viable if it had simply been a late night block on CN or Toonami but I'm guessing the regulators didn't like the idea of a kids channel getting a 'post watershed' segment.
