I am absolutely loving watching you tear this motor down bolt by bolt. You are giving me the confidence to do this myself, that you're not leaving a single thing out that I will find myself lost in the sauce on. That said, hopefully you get to a point of showing us what you're doing with all these bolts and parts as they come off. I have tried to keep stuff like this organized in the past, and can do it on smaller projects, but this is organization on a massive scale. Just the process of laying this stuff out, would take up my whole garage.
When using the stone, did you make sure to flatten the stone prior to using is? I only ask cause i use them in knife making and if you dont make sure to flatten it before each use you can do damage to to your material. And it looked like the stone was quite warped, biggest tell was how only the center of the stone getting black. Just a little FYI for ya brother. Love your videos, they are a great help!!!
I’m in part 2 right now. Loving it! I’m about to go pick a long block and pull mine out the front as well. Did you have a print out as far as specs and when to use sealants and when not to?
Some of the 2005 Excursions came with the older style hpop pumps but with the newer updated oil rails with the ICP sensor up front on the passenger side valve cover. On my valve cover it says 2004 so you have to be careful and double check when ordering parts for a 2005 Excursion 6.0. Seems like Ford pieced together and used left over parts for the 2005 Excursions knowing it was the last year of manufacturing them. Like how the 2005 Superdutys got the coil spring front end but the excursion kept the leaf springs and same with the dash superdutys got the refresh while excursions stayed the same.
Great video, man. Very motivating. Question, I pulled my rockers and had them in order, well the wife thought she’d do some organizing and moved all my rockers so now they’re all mixed. What should I do?? Is it really necessary to keep the rockers with that same cylinder they came from?
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE ya that’s what i discovered since asking this question but thanks for the reply!! Hope ya had a good weekend, happy Easter to you and yours!
I just finished with a 6.0 at my college diesel shop. It needed an oil change and we found out it was leaking big time from the turbo and we replaced the turbo with a used OEM turbo and it still leaks, however, not from the turbo, we also needed to replace the number 2 injector because it was falling apart in the engine. It was an '04 F350 dually and the driver's side rear door was missing the door handle and there was a big ass rust hole in the same door.
Thanks man. I needed this. My motor has 394000 miles. It still runs great has a complete bulletproof unfortunately i tried to remove the glowplugs and they had previously been broken off at the head. Idk what to do at this point. Im contemplating trying to drill them out, head removal, or reman motor. Any thoughts?
They break off in duramaxes 9/10 times, but those are aluminum heads so you can just weld a washer and nut on without issue, never had an issue with a 6.0 glow plug breaking though

Excellent video I have a 2006 f350 that I will be doing the same thing in the near future. Can you give a ball park cost of all the parts and where you sourced them from.
Right now I’m sitting around 10-12k but I did upgrade a lot of stuff like heads, injectors, turbo, hpop, regulated return, fass, etc. if I would have stuck to basic oem parts and kept the same injectors and turbo I’d probably be around 5-6k. Most of my parts were through blessed performance out of Gillette, WY. They have a DIY build kit online you can do pick what parts you want to upgrade or keep stock. They also run specials on the DIY kits where it’s 5% off the total package.
@@AustinTroubleMaker Thanks! not sure yet hoping to have it out within the next couple weeks still have a lot of editing to do on it and will most likely have to do a part 4 as well because of how long the videos are. Just been busy with my full time job and with the holidays approaching.
I have had this excursion since it was almost new and I’ve changed the oil every 3k miles I checked the compression and blow by before doing the rebuild and had no issues at all. And after tearing it apart everything in this motor was spotless so I didn’t think it really needed them I’ve seen these engines with over 400k miles on the original pistons and rod bearings. Since this isn’t our daily driver anymore I figured we’d be fine still using the originals.
Not really sure I’m asking myself the question. Not sure how long that was like that floating around but definitely glad I found it before the others started to back out. I’m wandering if it was a defect from the factory not really sure.
I love the videos but you did all this work spent thousands of dollars and didn’t even bother to change the bearings basically a cam swap and reseal with a tuner and everything I hope this doesn’t come back to bite you in the ass god bless
6.0’s don’t have any sort of bottom end issues, like he said he has done oil changes every 3k miles, not a daily driver anymore, only time I have ever screwed with a bottom end in a 6.0 was on one with 380k miles and was just getting checked over and it checked out good
This is the most complete tear down of a 6.0 on the web. Thanks much
Agreed, the most thorough one I've seen.
No it’s not check out super duty service
After owning a 6.0, I really like the design of the engine.

Thx for the reply, the link that you send me show a 8” stone yours is like 12”
This video is EXCELLENT !! I will have this video playing on my big screen in my garage when I go to tackle my 06 F-350 🤩🙌 THANK YOU!
Awsome videos my man! Love the quality and detail!

The stone will leave grit behind but I’m sure you will spray it clean
Mr. picky here. Pet peeve. It is an engine. Yet you do not call it a "motor" stand. Thanks for the vid.
How pedantic of you.

Thank you. I used the ford factory repair manual for a 2005 Excursion that’s how I got all the torque specs and where to use silicone.
Just curious why does your 2005 have the early style HPOP.? love the videos very detailed 👍👍👍👍

No it’s not a big deal they can go anywhere except for the end ones of course.

Question new working on diesel...when you install the heads piston has to be at tdc?
Why not check rod and main bearings when that far into it ?
Can you tell me why a bed plate crank bolt would snap like that ?
