Fun fact: Tobey actually caught MJ's lunch with the tray, no CGI involved (they only sticked the tray to his hand to make it easier!). I adore this trilogy, please keep watching! The Andrew Garfield ones are also cool.
Dude... the items are pulled off the tray and then the footage is run backwards. No CGI. But one of the oldest film making tricks.
@@Trainwheel_Time no it was a practical effect. The apple had adhesive to keep it from rolling off and the milk and jello had magnets so they’d land together. One of the producers (I think) joked that it took 157 takes or something like that.
I’m sure that took 20 takes 😂
No they’re not

Ahh that makes sense haha
Definitely finish the whole trilogy. Such a classic trilogy.
Yeah I will for sure chad!

Honestly you can skip the 3rd one. Its alright not as good as the 1st 2
The spider man meme trilogy
@@trpoihgg said nobody ever
Sidenote, I LOVE JJJ just lying to Goblin's face. He knows Peter is the photographer, a supervillain literally has him by the throat and is going to kill him unless he squeals... and he doesn't. He's an ass alright, but that carries a lot of forgiveness there.
wish Seb would have caught that, adds a lot of depth to an otherwise 2 dimensional newspaper editor
And I love all the possible interpretations we can get from that, on one side he’s a better nobler person than he acts like, on the other he understands peters value as the only source for spider man pictures leaning more on the smart businessman aspect. Or my personal headcanon JJJ simply wasn’t intimidated the whole thing wasn’t worth 1% of his power so he just plays along and let it slide
I seriously love that you are not afraid to make an inappropriate dirty joke or reference every now and then. So many others are very uptight. Keep it up 👍
It's all fun and games in the end :)

The whole Marvel and Spiderman situation is quite complicated: in the late 90's Marvel was in a rough spot economically so they decided to sell the rights of some of their characters to various studios to be used in films.
These characters included the X-Men family and the Fantastic Four family (sold to 20th Century Fox), and, of course, Spider-Man and all associated characters (sold to Sony). This was a difficult decision from Marvel due to the fact that Spider-Man was their most popular character back then, followed precisely by the Fantastic Four and the X-Men respectively. While the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy were less known characters.
Sony released the classic Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi and with Toby Maguire as Spidey between 2002-2007 and the franchise got cancelled before they could start working on Spider-Man 4. Eventually they did a reboot directed by Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield as Spidey which only lasted 2 movies (2012-2014) due to a mixed reception from the fans; but I would say it has now grown on many people.
On the other hand, Kevin Feige and Jon Favreau took their chances with 2008's Iron Man with the support of the recently created “Marvel Studios”, attracting the attention of Disney, who acquired the Studio in 2009. Then it eventually grew into the MCU, the most profitable movie franchise in history.
Around 2011 the Marvel/Sony deal changed when Sony sold back the merchandising rights of Spidey to Disney while they (Sony) were having some financial issues. Kevin Feige was hoping to somehow get Spider-Man into the MCU, particularly to the Civil War storyline due to Spidey being such an important part of it on the comics.
Eventually, around 2015 Marvel and Sony came to an agreement where they would “team up” on the Spider-Man film rights.
When the Civil War trailers started to roll out Marvel wasn’t quite sure if they were allowed to use the character yet, so they just erased him from some trailers. People thought it was because they didn’t want to spoil it but it was actually because the weren’t sure. Fortunately everything turn out fine.
Fox actually had an entire universe with the X-Men that lasted 13 movies all over 20 years (2000-2020). And also had a failed Fantastic Four trilogy which lasted only 2 movies (2005-2007) and a Horrifying reboot in 2015.
Eventually Disney being disney acquired the entirety of Fox in 2019 regaining the characters for Marvel to use in the MCU.
Sorry for the long comment but I think this it is interesting :)
Some of this I knew, like the Spider-Man bits, but a lot of this is new info to me, very interesting, thanks for sharing😄
@@dylancole1910 no problem :)
@Your unfriendly Neighborhood Demon That’s right, I always forget about Blade, but I don’t really know much about it as a film.
Had seen it only a couple of times a while ago
@Your unfriendly Neighborhood Demon Blade (1998), a Rated R film, was Marvel's first hit movie.
It's also noted that that the Sony/Disney deal to share Spider-Man was almost canned. Supposedly, the deal determined that Sony received 90% of the profits of the MCU Spider-Man movies, while Disney would only receive 10%. After the success of Homecoming and Far From Home, Disney wasn't happy with 10% anymore and wanted a bigger cut. They tried renegotiating the deal, and Sony basically told them to go screw, saying that Disney can either accept the 10% they had originally agreed upon or the deal was off and there would be no more Spider-Man in the MCU.
Needless to say, everyone started losing their minds. At first, they were mad at Sony for backing out of the deal because they didn't know the details, but it then quickly turned into hatred toward Disney for getting too greedy. Disney is a massive multi-billion dollar company that has its own assets, theme parks, and now owns Star Wars and Marvel, so why couldn't they be happy with 10% from the solo Spider-Man movies? Ultimately, it took a drunken Tom Holland calling Disney's CEO and begging him to accept the original deal. Disney backed down, and Spider-Man remains in the MCU (for the time being anyway).
The scene where the New Yorkers save Spider-Man from Goblin’s blade, given the aftermath of 9/11, is brilliant and truly legendary
"You taste like Spider-Man... if he's not upside down."
LOL literally, thanks for watching Jerome
Willem Dafoe is In great shape, he literally told the costume people to make him move around in it so he could do his own stunts and fight scenes, the second movie is the best, the director is also a huge spiderman fan he has alot of comics
You have to watch Spider-Man 2 it's arguably the greatest superhero movie ever made!
Yeah super excited for it
Totally agree here. You said that you liked the villain in this movie... I thought so too until I saw the second movie: Its villain blows the Green Goblin away!
@@estelyen oh man that sounds so awesome
I hate to overhype but I agree.
no argument my friend
The corniness you enjoyed so much in the film is just the fruit of Sam Raimi's work, he enjoys all of his little horror clichés, men and woman screaming, and having a blast letting Willem Dafoe just let it all go on screen. You should definetely check some of his other work, notably The Evil Dead!!
I loved this trilogy growing up, such a classic.
The ladies are gonna flip after hearing you at 5:38, Seb 😁🥇
Haha you kill me Lavel
@@SebScreen I’m here to entertain 😁
These spider-man’s will always hold a special place in my heart. My father and I saw them in theaters 1-3. Sadly, he passed in high school, but watching the movies like these always keeps him close. Spider-man was the first movie him and I saw together when I was old enough :) always hold a special place in my ❤️
Such nostalgia! Nice to see people can still enjoy it in 2021. Soundtrack is insanely good.
And erm…. 5:38 interesting information
It took me 19 years to realize in the Ramey trilogy that Jamison didnt really think Spider-Man was a villain but just wanted to exploit him in someway for more purchases of his paper
Bro you didnt have to stress, "going WAYYY back."
I remember seeing this in theaters 😭😭😭
Sam Raimi loves his jump scares. He was, and still is, a horror writer/director, for the most part
And boy did that side of him totally show during Spider-Man 2!
This was the first superhero film I ever watched, great memories hope Toby comes back for a cameo in the new Spider-Man film
Same! Even though Tom Holland and Miles Morales are my favorites, I have to be grateful for Tobey because he's the reason why Spidey became my favorite Superhero.
Lucy Lawless (Xena) is the punk who says "A guy with 8 hands? Sounds hot." Ted Raimi is Sam Raimi's younger brother. He's the dorky guy with glasses that works at the Bugle. Bruce Campbell has been friends with Sam since they were kids and appears in a lot of his movies.
I can't imagine not seeing this till now, this is the first film I ever saw in a theatre so Tobey Maguire is definitely my Spider-Man even though I like Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. Also the wrestling scene and him taking his own pictures as Spidey is straight from the comics and there's lots of jumpscares because Sam Raimi was a horror director
1:51 - and 20 years after this film, that quote came full circle...
This Spiderman walked so the others can run but in my opinion they just walk beside it, they are better in some ways but still pale in some fields to the original
To be honest, after the Spidey-Verse there was no reason to compare them anymore because they're simply different versions. They can co-exist. And I'm so excited for no way home because that's about to be crazy
“What’s with the skulls?”
Sam Raimi, that’s what!
Just to let you know, the director Sam Raimi decided to let Peter’s body create webbing naturally. In the comic books, Peter Parker creates a device(web shooters) that attaches to his wrists that shoot out a synthetic webbing. The Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland Spider-Men are more comic accurate. They wear web shooters that shoot out the webs
Honestly I never cared too much about comic accuracy, since I never read comics as a kid. I really enjoyed this trilogy and liked Raimi's adaptation, by changing some aspects like the web shooting. But that's just my view. I respect other people's opinions on comic accuracy for superhero movies.
You didn't need this movie for MCU Spider-Man Homecoming or Far From Home, they are independant. But it's nice to see differents Peter in the movies, their differences and similarities, etc.
In the comics Peter doesn't have organic web shooters, for example. MCU's is more accurate in that sense.
Anyway, love your reaction! I watched it when it came out, I was 10 and it was the movie which hooked me into superheroes.
True I didn't need it but I enjoyed it :)
@@SebScreen you definitely need this trilogy and the amazing spiderman though! There's a huge crossover in Spider-Man No way home this December, you definitely want to recognize everything
I thought this was soooo cool and advanced when I was little and now I realize watching you react how unbelievably cheesy they are… still so good and classic but so cheesy. Amazing. 😆
Agreed - you need to see the whole trilogy... it'll be worth it! I love that you're loosening up and making some inuendo jokes... they're hilarious! Keep it up Seb!
the only important fact about this Seb reaction was at 5:35 omg TAKE ME NOW
This came in perfect time. I remembered some bits from this movie from when I was a kid. But last week I finally watched it in full. My favorite part was the villain and that is not common for me. Willem Dafoe is so perfect for this. The costume is a hillarious because it looks kinda bad, but that´s part of the charm. I love how he is torn between the two personalities, the acting is brilliant. Great reaction Seb. I would love to see you watch the rest of the trilogy and even Amazing Spiderman series, if you are interested in it. :D
that sounds like perfect timing then
It's good that you're watching the old Spider-Man films. I'd recommend watching them all, because things are about to get really crazy in the MCU, particularly in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Hopefully you'll be all caught up by the time it is released in December.
Which also means he should probably watch the Amazing Spider-Man films as well.
@@cassieberringer7427 that's true🤔
This Movie was epic back then, and even now
your “voice” in this reaction was GREAT 🙌🏼
“Spider-Man drinks Dr Pepper” in cOmENtatOr 😂💞
Definitely watch the 2nd one for sure because it's even better than the first one. All three are actually really good. In the comic books he did create his own web shooter devices, but the director of this movie wanted it to be more organic and thought it made more sense that it was one of the powers he got from the spider so he made it part of his arm that shot the web, which I actually like better.
“Big change!” 😏
“Spiderman drinks Dr. Pepper👍” lmfaooo
5:38 WHAT !!!!!!! lol hahahahahahahahah let me see if thats true o.0
" Hey, you taste like Spider-Man"---Seb Haha! Fun reaction from ya
19:54 I think this is the first time I’m hearing your American accent attempt and laughing so hard☠️😂
Fun fact: we don't see an epic suit reveal because it was cut out. The movie was filmed and produced in 2001, and the release was in 2002. The reveal scene included a certain pair of buildings, and for fairly obvious reasons they had to edit it out. You can actually find the deleted scene on UA-cam
Please do watch them all, you won't be disappointed. The web-slingers were something Peter invented in the comics, and in every version except these by Sam Raimi. I don't know why he opted for the change, but it worked out well enough.
I grew up with this Spidey and when we got to the mcu I was dead confused because I never had the comics and thought Marvel changed it for no reason 😂😂
@@ot7biasedmashups Honestly I suspect the reason that the comics did not make them a more-or-less 'natural' mutation is, that if you look at the physiology of a spider, it's very clear that webs would not be coming from his hands, but from somewhere... inappropriate to show.
Imagine this in theaters you just sitting there with you’re popcorn and you’re beverage and watching this. Would be awesome
I was sad when green goblin died but got happy when he is coming back in the new Spider-Man No Way Home film
This adaptation of Spider-Man is what made me a fan of Spider-Man.
My favorite part of this whole movie is Macho Man Randy Savage as Bonesaw McGraw lol
Also, best Uncle Ben portrayal, wish I had such a wholesome uncle like that.
I mean, props for JJ Jameson for not being a snitch, even tho he hated spider-man
No, Peter didn't kill the guy who killed his uncle. The guy TRIPPED, then fell. I LOVED SM since first buying a comic in 1964 at age 9. This movie was a kid's dream come true! I loved your great JOYFUL reactions!

8:30 God damn all my life i thought he was looking at abs, spiderman will never be the same...
Tom Holland is my absolute favorite Spiderman (besides Miles Morales) but I grew up with this trilogy and Tobey made Spiderman my favorite superhero. It'll always have a special place in my heart.
Even though it's definitely more enjoyable to have a cast that at least looks like they could be high school students xD
I can't wait for you to watch Avengers Infinity war. I'm enjoying this journey through the MCU.

REAL CINEMA! i love this trilogy. I grew up watching the early marvel stuff and it's so fun and entertaining.
THE BEST spiderman movies!!!
I love how Raimi respect the heroes from DC. Opening the shirt its defenetly a reference and aunt May saying "you're not superman"
He didn't kill that criminal, it fell out the window and met its end. The justice was served.
You should definitely watch the 2nd film. Many fans including me hold it as the best Spider-Man movie ever made. With Spider-Man No Way Home on it's way it would be a good idea to finish the Sam Rami Trilogy and the Amazing Spider-Man films with Andrew Garfield.
So many good things in one movie🔥🖤
"Normally there's a long speech"
Well he's gonna continue to appear
"what are they trying to make for them"
If it's a marvel hero and they are talking about formula's, elixers, serums, etc. they are always trying to make some sort of version of the Super Soldier Serum. Most of them fail, like with the greeen goblin or the Hulk :)
That smootch won MTV Movie Awards "Best Kiss"!
The ending of Spider-Man is the most gangster thing ever. He gets the entire world behind him and gets rid of his Goblin enemy. Then he gets his crush to kiss him, only to friendzone her and do a victory lap through New York City. Just bad ass. lol

@17:14 - Dafoe knows damn well what the assignment is, and he never disappoints. ;)
The film came out a little after 9-11. The people on the bridge helping Spider Man is a reference to the people of New York sticking together and helping their own.
Fun fact the spider actually bit Toby they held spider auditions and painted the one the chosen originally the director wanted to use a black widow but the venomous af
18:17 It has to be split personality, that was also evident when he was unconscious just hours after he became the green goblin, the only thing he does remember for a split second is convulsing uncontrollably, and that bit where he told Peter to stop attacking him was a clue that his true personality just came through, didn't last long though as the goblin personality just forced its way to him,its almost as though he was possessed by the green goblin, like he wasn't in control of his actions

You also need to watch the amazing spider man after this trilogy, even tho it may not seem as good for everyone but the swinging scenes are so good!!
Definitely down for checking those out
In addition to the action, effects, and costumes being mostly just as good or better in the "Amazing" films, the romance is also way better. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone's chemistry is just incredible. They also do a good job portraying a quippy, fast-talking Spider-man; something the Sam Raimi films never really had.
@@SebScreen make sure you have tissues when you watch!!😂
@@EmphaticNod Agreed. And also my unpopular opinion, but I actually really enjoyed the portrayal of Peter in those films because in the original 60's comics Peter wasn't just a quiet nerd, but had serious anger problems. I personally feel the depiction of Peter's emotional states are far more comic accurate in the "Amazing" films. And even including the MCU version, Andrew Garfield is still very much significantly my favorite Spider-man. (And just in general from the very start I didn't like the depiction of either Peter or Mary Jane in the original films having read the original 60's & 70's comics.)
Tasm 1 is best
I love the trilogy growing up, all so good and nostalgic ❤
This whole trilogy are my comfort films, even the third one, which I didn't like as much. If there was a description for " live action comics" this would be the first to pop in my mind. These movies were the first superhero films I ever saw as a kid, before Marvel, or superman or any of that. It ignited a love for classic superheroes at a young age for me. Yeah, there's a LOT of cheesy effects, and parts that are cringy compared to the movies released today.. but, there's just this amazing nostalgia that you can't get from any other superhero series today. The sound effects, the CGI, the classic characters ( even if they didn't have a ton of depth, the whole point was to give it the feel of the comics with the awesome one liners, cheesy villain origins, and the beautiful love interest there to motivate the hero-ALL those cliches), are all what make these films special to me and hard to beat compared to the recent Spider-Man movies. As much as I love Tom Hollands take on Peter, I will always argue that Tobey Maguire was able to portray the character more authentically than him.
I recommend that you please do watch at least the second film ( it's also my opinion that the second film is the best film in the series and one that I always rewatch when I need a classic Spider-man fix), the third is one is one that many people disliked due to its clutter of villains and storylines but I also think you should watch that one as well because there are some really great scenes and parts in that film regardless- and in order to watch and really appreciate the new, upcoming Spider-Man film ( Tom Holland: Marvel: once you've see the first two, of course), you may need context for the many cameos of classic villains present.
All in all, this series may not be Marvel, but it definitely sparked my love for this type of story and when Tom Holland came along and absolutely crushed it, made me love the character even more despite their completely different takes on Peter Parker.
Last minute Note:
a lot of people love the Andrew Garfield version as well. Those series being called " The Amazing Spider-Man" he is also said to be included in the new movie with the Tom Holland adaptation. Even though I'm one of those people that absolutely HATE those movies, I think you should watch it too, just for more added context.
This concludes my thoughts on Spider-Man as a whole, I could give you a sixteen page essay on Tobey vs every other actor who's played Spider-Man, but I won't because this comment is already long. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series if you choose to watch on your own time or react to it. It's the best trilogy of movies ever made, truly.
It's my favourite movie trilogy too.
I appreciate that you saw this Spiderman for background ... btw #2 is even better story of Spiderman with Tobey Maguire.. thanks for reaction
Ayeee saw my name😂another great reaction seb🤟🏽💯
"What's with the skulls?" 😂
I don’t know about the rest of the fanbase but the swing scenes in the end of Spider-Man 1 & 2 are epic
20:36 - This scene, much like the slow-mo trope from "The Matrix", was used a few times as comic relief in several spoofs for several years.;
