When I started singing in videoke somewhere around 2000ish, my voice is full of shame, but you need to go on finish the song surrounded by rubbernecks people. You need to withstand the shame and once you master the shame, you don't have shame left and you only have one option that is to sing it good. This is building confidence in front of the people.
