I am 78 years old and have been listening to classical music for 70 years since l received a crystal radio kit with a single ear piece and could pick up the signal late at night from a station in Ontario, Canada. In all this time I have never heard of this wonderful composer. Not surprising since only about 5% of all music is commonly played. Thanks for putting this out.
Small belated suggestion. Time allowing, for an efficient in depth root around for music that might appeal to you. Pick a music genre with an associated country, like "German baroque composers", then launch a brief search on Wikipedia and see which list of names pops up. Finally, at leisure, via UA-cam and other online music resources, explore works of handpicked composers. You're in for a treat!
The music of Faso is an inexhaustible source of sweetness. It allows us to plunge deep inside ourselves and at the same time resonate with our fellow man, Yé Lassina Coulibaly
Weiss and Pisendel was very good friends ! One day Weiss invited Benda and Pisendel to lunch and secretly had Benda's violin case brought along. In the afternoon he was asked to play a solo on the violin, which Pisendel accompanied with the viola pomposa. After the first solo another was demanded, and so it went until midnight. Benda had twenty-four solos in his case, and he had to play all twenty-four. In the meantime, Weiss played eight to ten sonatas on the lute.
I don't know what office you frequent, but if these works sound like background music to you then you are just not hearing how exquisite this is. Maybe give it another listen?
Sublime and Wonderful Masterpieces Forever !

Do you still have the crystal radio ? I'm 68 and remember them fondly.
Oh no, that's long ago and far away. Just a fond memory that connected me to the great music. Erie Pennsylvania in the early 1950s.
You must've watched the Glenn Gould programmes on CBC

Ah, sometimes it is only the French who can find le mot juste even if it takes them 3 long sentences to say it!

Una scoperta graditissima. Un compositore raffinato.
Nunca lo habia escuchado, super interesante! ♪♫♫
Refinado , discreto e suave. Em suma, lindíssimo!
Interesting track arrangement. The cheerful Weiss lute pieces are a nice balance to the minor-key violin sonatas.
I was just thinking of Pisendel. Elegant works and nice interpretation!

Comparable to modern office music. A little tedious, but pleasant.
