I remember 10 years ago when Japan visited India in Delhi. Japan won the match in 3-0. I was in the stadium where there were only few thousand people. half of them had left the stadium before the match ended. The crowd was mainly silent as we were losing. There was barely any advertising outside the stadium to know that the match was in progress. We used to lose badly to sides like Kuwait, Iraq, syria. Today I see Full stadium consistently. Our players have improved a lot. We are still far behind the international standard. We are just under 100. Lets target under 75. Lets keep supporting. Jai Hind.

I still think that of all the good things aiff have done recently banning of indian arrow project is a bad decision. It was already giving us good result. Why it need to be banned?

If football has to grow in India then I'd say media will have a big role in this. Marketing will be the key factor. Clubs like Mohanbagan and East Bengal should advertise by their history and players like Chetri and Bhutia should advertise by their performance statistics. I League should become the 2nd division tournament with promotion and relegation system. ISL clubs should bring at least decent coaches from Europe. ISL Clubs should sign famous players who doesn't cost that much at twilight of their career to grab attention

As someone who grew up in Kuwait during 70s & early 80s, this win felt very personal for me & my childhood friends. In those days, the Indian team used to be beaten by 6 goals etc .. but today am sure all Indians in Kuwait have a special smile on their faces :). Kuwaiti football teams from 76 till mid 80s was an asian powerhouse.

Because Indian Cricket team reached the Zenith and stayed there for quite sometime. The Threshold is so high anything less than Gold medal is lack-lustre for all. Any big tournaments soon after the IPL is also a contributing factor as these fantastic players are also humans prone to injuries and burn-out. No we aren't tbh. Kuwait's pressing was good their man marking was good, their passing was more accurate. We struggled on 1v1 , bar some few players. Altho, it's commendable that we won but we weren't the better side.

If football has to grow in India then I'd say media will have a big role in this. Marketing will be the key factor. Clubs like Mohanbagan and East Bengal should advertise by their history and players like Chetri and Bhutia should advertise by their performance statistics. I League should become the 2nd division tournament with promotion and relegation system. ISL clubs should bring at least decent coaches from Europe. ISL Clubs should sign famous players who doesn't cost that much at twilight of their career to grab attention

As someone who grew up in Kuwait during 70s & early 80s, this win felt very personal for me & my childhood friends. In those days, the Indian team used to be beaten by 6 goals etc .. but today am sure all Indians in Kuwait have a special smile on their faces :). Kuwaiti football teams from 76 till mid 80s was an asian powerhouse.

I have been a supporter of Indian football team from mid nineties. I taken a leave to watch my team play in stadium yesterday. Finally we won the match, what an emotion, what a night it had been, people were crying in joy. the people of India cheering for football match win , I did not thought I would see it in my life time. next stop world cup, will go to support my team in world cup as well.
