I love how Kyle Gabler has this underlying mystery/majesty to his songs. On the surface, it’s just a fun dance song. But there’s this feeling you get from those vocals and chords that’s completely different.
Extremely late reply to a comment I’ve occasionally thought about for years but i feel like the entire OST has a really strong theme of “awe”, the game in general is very awe-inspiring in nature.
I love how slightly offbeat it is in the beginning. Not enough to be a swing rhythm, but just enough to feel like the music is tilting back and forth slowly. Huh, like a goo tower.
Judging by the state of the Beauty Generator in the trailer, I think that all Beauty Goo may have become extinct by the time the game takes place, although a variation of Red Carpet would be epic.
I was like. Wait... Am I about to trick a celebrity to die? And that's what happened. I broke the carpet machine, built a path for them to roll into spikes, and used there guys to pass the level. Holy shit this game is evil.
Look! the video description says: Notes from the composer: "I wrote this in 2001 as a joke for a music class in undergrad. Only the beginning of this song is used in the game, and for only one level, but it has become one of the most requested pieces of music. So, here's the "full song", but it comes with a warning - this song is designed to sound like every cheap 90's dance song ever made. The singer is great though, an astrophysicist named Jessica. I gave a her a chainsaw for her wedding and we never spoke again. The end."
This was my favorite of all from the first game, I would just let the game run on the level this song played on and let it play for hours. This is one of the most epic songs I've ever listened to.
I replaced the in-game file with this full version. Edit: Now there is no sound. Edit Edit: I put it back, still no sound. Help. Edit Edit Edit: I put the new file in, and this time it worked. It's amazing.
This song stuck to me the most because it took me months to figure out what to do to solve the level. Man, the memories, also I'm sure I've never heard the 1:01 part in game, or am I missing something?
Kyle only used the first minute on loop in the game, however he later released the full version, as per the description: "I wrote this in 2001 as a joke for a music class in undergrad. Only the beginning of this song is used in the game, and for only one level, but it has become one of the most requested pieces of music. So, here's the "full song", but it comes with a warning - this song is designed to sound like every cheap 90's dance song ever made. The singer is great though, an astrophysicist named Jessica. This sounds like the music that's played in the final fight in a high-octane anime between the big bad and the protagonist, who has finally achieved their true strength through realization that the power they needed was always inside them and had been nurtured by their evolving world views and the bonds they've made with the people they meet along the journey.

Ha pasado años desde que jugué el primer juego de World of goo, pero no olvido las canciones, el soundtrack es increíble, y está canción definitivamente es mi favorita ❤ Recién me enteré que WOG2 está en epic, espero jugarlo pronto 😊
I love how delightfully unsubtle this game is in its messaging. Like, hmm, I wonder if there's some kind of deeper meaning in the stage where you literally crush a bunch of Gooballs to death so that the "important" (i.e. pretty) one can make it to the pipe?
To be fair, the pretty one also isn't really fortunate (she got literally thrown on a sawblade). The real winner here is the World Of Goo Corporation, they've made a show AND got material for their product, exploiting everyone in the process.
World of Goo was my childhood I remember sitting by my Wii and the big boxy tv as I played it I recently replayed it on Steam, and God the feels.... so many memories
i picture this whole song like a story, the first part being the end result, where everything is ok, but then the second part would show what lead up to that point. it would start where this girl and her massive friend group start escaping a team of reserchers who abuse them like lab rats and the start of a chase scene would be where they would be in a big mall. they all get separately spoted, chased then everybody meets up at one point then they all run to one big area that is like 7 stories high. at the point where the pitch shifts is where they all take to the air up to the top and leave the reserchers behind as the ending part sets in. they end up safe at the top where they flee the mall and live happily ever after. not sure exactly why i picture this in the first place but i think it would make an excellent short film😊
This really feels like an story where a girl is getting to her first great modell session and start shy and pretty nervous, but then tries to encourage herself going to scene, improvising in her poses even trying to dance, even the manager thinking shes getting out the script, but she keep dancing with eyes closed hearing people cheering, so then he gets more and more excited till sher entire world changes shapes and colors making all around her look more psychodelic but yet in reality only being a product of her mind. And at allmost the end, she really gets on the top making her entire world change totally in a surreal scenario (something like final destination in smash bros but with not even solid ground to stand on) while she keeps dancing without control enjoying herself outside of even the asistants cheering till she reahces her peak, stoping her dancing and kneeling down like saying "thank you" to the public and being clamed for the public at the end.
