This game has made my childhood. He's not the only one but he still stands out as he's so different from any other game. I'm not a big fan of this type of games but this one fills me with nostalgia and I can't believe that there are some people out here that don't know about World of Goo. I believe that this is one of the greatest games ever, not in the same way that games like God of War, Assasin's Creed or Call of Duty can be great AAA games, but more in the way that this game is really, really different from anything else, it is kinda creepy but is still interesting, kinda mind-fucking as you can stay stuck on a level for quite a while but you will not especially get bored, the OST that is just a masterpiece, I mean I would pay this the OST being played on stage by musicians, that's the amount of respect I give to this game. If you are here today, maybe it is because you don't know the game, maybe because you know it, played it, or any other reason, but the reason you're here is to learn the story behind because okay, it's looking a little weird and it appeals you, it's having an amazing soundtrack, but behind all that, is there a story? Yes, of course. And here you go listening to the story and reading a random guy's comment about his nostalgia and admiration on the game. Please, consider playing this game and enjoying it to the fullest, this game IS worth your time.
Man, great comment, I agree with everything you said. I remember playing this game as a kid, back in my old place. I couldn't remember much of the game, the only thing that I clearly could remember is the level with the frog. It's been years since i last played the game, and recently I happened to see it in the play store and that it's been bought by Netflix. Today I beat the game. It was beautiful. And as you can see, I'm here in this video, wanting to know more about the story. Everything about the game is great. I love it. Now that I understand English I could read all the signs, and that just added a whole new feeling to the same game I once played. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, as it is clearly a piece of art
I'm 21, was playing the game when I was 10. Damn, I am happy that I heard about this game again today ! I could never forget about it. I didn't finish it when I was a kid but now's the time. Can't wait for World of Goo 2 !
@@alpha_morgy I remember literally asking my mum to complete some levels where I was struggling! One of them was that level in the end where you need to flip the tall ass tower between islands, and, being a three years old, I was failing it miserably. And what she ended up doing is to intentionally pour the whole tower into the void until there's only a tiny rectangle left, and then simply fly it to the right using balloons... And that's how I play this level to date, I never completed it the intended way EVER :D
Unlikely cause the new wog2 sequel confirms WoG and earth are 100000 light years away so it wouldn’t make sense for an explosion on wog to affect earth’s climate. An older version of little inferno revealed TC created artificial snow and that’s what started LI’s events but we don’t know if that’s still canon.
its so wild hearing the story of a game i played so many times as a kid... i remember seeing all these moments and reading all the signs but the story had never clicked until watching this vid. now i want to replay WoG now.... very thorough yet concise vid!
Same, I'm just now realizing that it's called Product Z because the third dimension is the Z Axis, and also I didn't even realize why all of the pipes are there. Also I thought product Z was the information super Highway, not the third dimension. Also when playing the game, I didn't really understand what it meant by the world being 3D and stuff, I had all the pieces, this video helped me put them all together
I always wished I could play world of goo for the first time again, and a sequel is about as close as we can get. I’ll never lose hope for a sequel for this game.
@@SilverMSM I remember being a little kid when this came out and for years I've wanted a sequel. After a long time, the idea of wanting a sequel disappeared... until today. I can't express the shock and excitement I had when they announced a second game, I felt like a little kid again
This game made my heart ache and grow. I Spent nights playing this as a little kid, but now that im an adult, coming back to this place makes me realize how precious this small game was. Those poor Goo balls really deserved better, they simply wanted a new life. Never forget World Of Goo And Never forget Kyle, the man who did it all
This game is proof that music, artwork, story, and theme can portray emotions a thousand times better than games that have photorealistic graphics as their only strong point. A perfect example is "Detroit Become Human", that game is boring but has really good graphics
Although they didn’t know where it came from, a new goofilled land slowly appeared on the horizon, filling the gooballs imaginations with limitless possibilities that would soon become a reality. - The Ecstatic Sign Painter
I’m 99% sure the seasons are a red herring and chapters 2-5 take place years after c1. It’s the only way to explain several details that would otherwise be plot holes and inconsistencies
I remember finding the proof of concept for World of Goo. One of the game designers used it as a final project at their University. Imagine my surprise when I saw it as a full game years later.
0:55 I always thought it was a volcano or some weird creature (with eyes, "lips" and "stomach acid"). Also, now that I'm more able to comprehend the story of this game, I realised... _are we the baddies?_ (intentionally or not) We sent all those helpless goo balls into the pipes and subsequently to the clearly evil Corporation. We reactivated the Beauty Generator - seemingly a good thing - which allowed for the creation of the factory that manufactured Product Z (which caused panic among the population and generally f%&ked up the world). We then, presumeably trying to fix our mistake, undelete all the spam, causing the Corp to explode and thus cover the world in smog and pollution. Man, we _really_ messed up this world, haven't we?
I think it's more like you were playing as the intent of the goo balls. Even without messing with them, the goo balls are passively attracted to pipes, which was your goal anyway
It makes me extremely happy to see a small resurgence of popularity for this game on the internet recently. I've seen videos made about many aspects of this game such as custom levels and the soundtrack but I have never seen a video covering the lore until now. I thank you for creating this video and I thank the game for creating many memories of nostalgia for all of us together.
Finally, after years of waiting, playing it as a child, we finally get an ending. I was wondering what happened to the goo balls that escaped the factory. I never saw the 3d part before.
I’m so glad that I didn’t forget this game, it’s still part of my childhood today even if I only played the demo several years ago on the Wii when I was a toddler
I've had this weird dystopian theory about the people turning into goo by world of goo corporation. Whatever It was, I felt scared and uneasy yet this game was so unique that I was able to remember this through all my childhood days. I loved the music and narrative of the story.
