Even though I've won D5 on every tater, I still watch these vids. I especially am enjoying seeing what you've come up with for the thumbnails when it shows up in my feed.
@@CanikPlease I would recommend one of the easier classes, just to have a nice comfy success experience. Something straightforward like generalist, multitasker, or doctor. Cactus club with scared sausage and pocket factory lets you fully utilize all of the apprentice's damage advantages while giving you the primitive tag as well.
Hey ! You're doing great educational brotato vids over there :) Keep making good content and the channel will grow for sure ! Thank you gor this entertaining stuff and have a nice day friend
I live in Bergen in Norway and we have pretty good public transport. Keep up the good work on these videos, stumbled upon your channel and I must say I really enjoy your content!
You might appreciate this. After watching this and Generalist, I went back to Apprentice and decided to try Cactus Club because it benefits from Melee and Ranged. Found a Scared Sausage in the first shop, and ended up using all three flat damages. It was hilarious.
@@emilior934 I was definitely strong. Basically jumped on top of the biggest enemies and beat them up while the rest of the field burned. Probably not as good as if I’d gone Slingshots with the Sausage, but good and not something most classes could do in the game
If you are looking for an excuse to play plank again, you could just do the character where plank is simply the best starting weapon (artificer). Admittedly, I never actually END a run as artificer with planks, because of course, then you have like 4 weapons with the same tags that are just better in every way (rocket launcher, plasma sledge, plasma fist, nuclear launcher), but frankly, I think that is correct play for any plank build: your goal should be to arrive at a point where you no longer have any planks. As for thunder sword, I think the reason it's not popular is simple: blades are not popular, and neither are elemental weapons, and of the classes that ever build elemental, which are not many, artificer basically doesn't want it. By the time you start finding epic weapons in the shop, you kind of already have a defined build, and most defined builds do not generally have blades or elemental damage included. Particularly blades, as that is how you actually get this weapon. If you want to show weapon damage, there's a mod for that. It adds damage counters to all your weapons on your hud. The mod itself has a chinese title, but it also has "weapon damage" in english appended to the end. Useful for evaluating your play, but SUPER useful for informing an audience. If you want to see what it looks like, just look at a joinrbs (jorbs) youtube video of brotato. he runs it.
True! I think I did artificer with shredder the first time through, I'll have to test again before I do that guide. I think apprentice with plank is especially cool because it actually uses all the scaling, so it makes plank at least an interesting weapon rather than just the best of a bad bunch. And yeah I love the thunder sword but as you say it just never fits neatly into builds. That's good to know about the mod, and also that Jorbs got into Brotato - I used to watch his MtG videos and enjoyed him in the big Among Us lobbies that the Magic community did back when Among Us was all the rage. I'll have to check it out!
I don't know which class is best for Lightning shiv and thunder sword but they unlock easy mode on one armed which tends to struggle with other weapons.
I had such a heartbreaking run with the torch (to utilize both melee and elemental) - it went really well but I died on wave 18 vs the elite which fires the moving fire circles so I couldn't focus on clearing the wave anymore because my defense wasn't strong enough and the wave overwhelmed me. Oh, and the busses are fine here, thanks for asking 😂
Yeah, torch is really difficult even with the bonus damage from apprentice - the weapon is just so weak since it only sets things on fire in melee so they have no time to burn before you need to kill them anyways.
I ended up with a very similar build - 4 slingshots and 2 thunder swords (all red/tier IV). Came across a flamethrower in the shop in Endless and just for future reference, I don’t believe it’s worth it. Half the damage of a slingshot and less than half a thundersword - on bosses and in horde waves. I actually had more elemental dmg than ranged too. (Power generator, silver bullet, hoodie with overcap dodge, giant belt, sharp bullet & good bit of piercing dmg… so yeah had lot of dmg lol) Died wave 30 due to lack of hp :( even bought a dang alien baby & got an octopus from boss. No early leaf = sadge
Yeah - flamethrower falls off on Endless I think because the burning damage is basically capped thanks to the tick frequency, and in lategame endless mode the synergy with lifesteal doesn't matter since you get oneshot anyways (normally, flamethrower is great with lifesteal just because of the fast attack speed).
lightning shiv apprentice is easily in my top 5 most fun characters, especially if you find lightning swords although I understand why you went slingshot because without extra max hp apprentice is one of the harder character
oh btw as a bit of a request can you do a run as doctor soon? one of the easier characters in my opinion but I would like to hear your detailed thoughts on the medical weapons namely the medical gun vs scissors @@Cephalopocalypse
I forget every time! And yeah that's something I need to pay more attention to, I sometimes forget which items I already have that might change my evaluations.
Hey man thx for the guides, if im ever struggling with a character you channel is always the first place i go. On that note could you make one on the cyborg? The hardest and most complex one i haven't been able to beat on D5 yet.
@@marcsiefer1678 I used 1 minigun full wrenchs and it went pretty well, perhaps you didnt buy enough ranged damage cuz it got converted to engi halfway
13:06 Wouldn't armor be good for a low Max HP build since you are losing larger chunks of damager per hit, considering since you have the small life bar? And Armor would help mitigate that huhe burst damage which leads to death. How is Armor not great with low HP?
Armor basically acts as a multiplier on your max HP (the math works out where each point of armor is worth 6.66% of your HP as effective HP), so the more health you have, the more each point of armor increases your EHP. So generally up to a certain point, it's more valuable to just get more max hp, but when you pass that point armor becomes more valuable. A tier 1 level up gives you 3 HP or 1 armor, so if you have less than 50 health, the max hp is more valuable, and over 50 the armor is better since 6% of 50 is 3. It's a little more complicated than that since armor *also* multiplies your effective healing, but that's a good rule of thumb.
Haha, true - I can't remember exactly but I think by then I'd more or less given up on the sword ever being good :P Could also have just been a missed opportunity though!
That does make it harder, but still that's too bad! So many rural areas are near disused train tracks, I always wonder if we could bring those back online even if just for local transit
Chunky danger 5 bro. I struggled even with danger 0. I only used ghost scepter but dont have enough damage and just ran till the time ends for level 20
I think that was one of the most OP characters I’ve ever played. I think I just got lucky with leveling my ghost scepters and getting high attack speed and damage percentage. I had max dodge too by the final round, but I had so much health that it didn’t matter.
It's not a genuine Cephalo Brotato guide if the boss fight doesn't include the sentence "oops, I took a little bit more damage than I intended" ;-)
Oops, I took more SASS than I intended :P
or "I'm going to compare the damage between these two weapons after this round." then spends money and starts next round :)

I don't know which class is best for Lightning shiv and thunder sword but they unlock easy mode on one armed which tends to struggle with other weapons.
One armed is great with those for sure, and I think Apprentice is probably close to the best as well. In my one armed guide I went with a slingshot
You can also use a couple of ghost scepters and either melee or weapons with shorter range than scepter.
Yeah, ghost scepter is great on this character as well, the free damage helps a lot with the low base damage of the ethereal weapons
I had such a heartbreaking run with the torch (to utilize both melee and elemental) - it went really well but I died on wave 18 vs the elite which fires the moving fire circles so I couldn't focus on clearing the wave anymore because my defense wasn't strong enough and the wave overwhelmed me.
