Great presentation. I attended this session and went home with plenty of immediately useful mixing moves to experiment with. Having this sonicScoop video available is a perfect refresher and an opportunity to pick up some of the finer points I missed.
I like that he shows the big EQ moves. That's what every producer does but almost no mixing video is showing this. He's quite apologetic about it, as if it is a noob move..but it's not. How else should all these elements work together?
what I don't get is HOW is it sounding sooooo good n spaced out n balanced, I try these stuff on my daw and then straight up the stereo bus meter goes into red
Yeah I know right? They say things like there are no right or wrongs, rules are meant to be ignored etc. But I am struggling to find how I can get my mixes to sound good, clear, loud and "glued". Feel llke I'm getting no where
Sounds like probably your individual channels are too high. Start by making sure no channel is going above -8 db and then mix the levels from there. You want your master to be hitting about -6db
I'm little bit confused, you're using mono kick with stereo sub and then everything goes mono below 82 hz on master eq...why you didn't make "mono sub" in the first place? Personal taste or other reason? I think this song will be stamped on vinyl, so everything stereo below 80 -110 hz will affect on vinyl quality...
These days that sub sound needs higher harmonics to poke through on small speakers like phones and laptop speakers. Having some width on those low mid harmonics helps to keep it out the way of the kick and monoing all the real sub frequencies of the sub track helps keep it punching correct on a bigger system. He knows what he’s doing.
Hm, not sure if this is an interessting song to look at mixingwise. Not really a baseline there, and how to mix kick with bass is always the best part of such videos I fnd :)

This video opened my mind a little more
Super useful. Especially like the way he manually ducks the sub when the kick hits. Also, the pad ambience is effective.
I love Matt Lange's works and thanks for this masterclass. Waiting new stuff from sir Matt.
Matt Lange is one of my favourite producers.
What an amazing & informative video !

Techno is an interesting genre to mix/master. You can’t just make it louder, you know?
amazing!
@7:12 is he automating the left write pan or stereo/mono?

Oh, it was nothing lol.
seriously?
SERIOUSLY!
@@SonicScoop using a sample editor like protools to produce house is like racing around a go-kart track in a farm tractor.
Really don’t like Matt’s productions they aren’t very good at all.
Your loss
what an awful track to use
honestly, that song sucks, it sounds really bad
That song was ass If im being honest
Terrible . If you can’t make a beat like this day 1 if trying . You need to do something else
techno is always terrible
It wasnt about the beat, its the sound design
youre extremely stupid
Viral Killer yet you’re watching a video on techno production.
Missing the point big time...
