Thank you for showing the Watanabe vs. Minilite comparison.
Panasport, Watanabe, Enkei, Konig, Advan, etc. have all made reps before. Panasport and Watanabe are literally most famous for their minilite reps but nobody considers them to be such.
Also 6:56 it's Etymology, not Entomology (the study of insects)

It’s a trip how people trip about rep shoes but not rep wheels

@@cian___ That's a really good idea to remake your old videos once your channel gets bigger and you get better at editing etc. I may have to do something like that in the future! Good job m8!

Really love this vid man. Puts a solid end to the discussion and is pretty much what I’d send any of my friends who are just getting into building cars.

    I don’t wanna be a knowitall, but technically the A3A, R106 and Weds Mk1 are all reps…
Of the Suzuka Longchamp M-1, the godfather of modern 3-spoke designs. Produced in ‘73 (iirc) and one of Suzuka Longchamp’s first wheels.

I started a meme that I still see to this day, "Genuine ROTAs". Basically, a wheel that's a knock-off or has no heritage, but is still JWL certified is a "Genuine Rota". As opposed to BB5 or ENKE1 wheels which are made of who knows what and are genuinely unsafe.

Nobody can call my wheels a rep because they have never heard of “legzas stitch” although the only thing poor about them is they were rattlecanned black very poorly.

Would love for someone to come out with a MB Battle (yes I know it’s a rep) with a reinforcement ring like the nt03

Surprised you also didn't bring up people calling wheels "fake". The true sense of the word, a wheel cannot be "fake" because it is a real thing, and it still works as a "wheel", but semantically we all know that "fake" implies that the wheel is of lesser quality, a knockoff, or a rep as well. I always found it interesting as well how non-rep companies (such as Enkei) can basically come out with their own TE37, (see the T6R) but of course most people wouldnt call the Enkei a rep wheel. Also if you haven't see it yet the "wheel brand pyramid" does a great job imo of showing the different tier levels of wheels, and its a bit more nuanced then just "real" vs "fake" or "rep" vs "non-rep"

If the Japanese wheel has a manufacturing stamp that means it's real unlike replica

In my opinion reps who are unbranded are shit... Like going to those wheel shops that have all those shitty one size fits all super massive offset kinda wheels those are junk.. on the other hand we also have other reps that copy the style from the real wheels but avids and aodhanz and esr have really good quality wheels tho they are knock off but looks but quality is good.. I have both reps and "real". All in all I say everyone should be at peace we all have the love for cars.
