I don't own an Axe FX3 but I've followed the course Brett has taken his having been with them for some time now. It makes perfect sense to us tone missionaries that this is what we love doing! I love my rack and all I've built but wouldn't think twice about shelving out the coin for axe fx3. Beyond this...deep dive and stay down there! Thanks Brett great revealing of just how vast the selections and variants can be and what can be built 👍
The axe fx3 is the best out there by far.... You inspire me to want to play mine even more. Thank you so much for the wonderful playing and the fantastic sounds you put together..
And to respond to your “Cliff probably DOES own them” comment, I can personally testify that I had my “brush with greatness” once on Reverb . . . He wanted to buy a Friedman cab I had literally JUST decided to hang onto . . . So I said so . . . He was perfectly gracious about it and said he’d just pick another one. They must have a crazy collection where they build these profiles.
You might not like to shill it but I sure as hell will! It was my best gear purchase ever, it actually replaced my rack I owned since the 80's. I still find it hard to believe it put my ADA MP-1 on the sideline. Thanks for the presets Brett, always appreciated.
Thank you for giving a very insightful reply and again i love your community mind set i have always believed when you have God given talent you should share it with those less blessed ,God bless you mate i hope you continue doing what you do for as long as you can .
That opening drive reminds me of early Gamalon. Look up Cabin Fever UA-cam Gamalon. As a drummer for decades they were one of my first fusion like appeals. Amazing guitar tones for their time too. Anyway love your vids my friend !!!
These things are so deep it's scary to me. It feels like there would be a huge learning curve, but I could be wrong. It certainly sounds incredible. I'm curious as to how it would feel under my fingers. It sounds like Brett is connected with it really well, so I'm guessing the feel is great. So many great sounds!! Yowza!
On one hand, you are not wrong. It’s DEEEEEEEP. However, I am with you. I did not want to take a semester on how to dial up a guitar sound before I focused on what I wanted/needed to accomplish every time I sit down with an instrument. FORTUNATELY, there’s plenty of people like Brett Kingman and Austin Buddy who seem to excell at not only being wonderful, tasteful players, they also took the time to learn the machine. These guys have made it much easier to “plug n’ play”. Fractal isn’t the only answer but it’s certainly earned it’s place near the top of the list.
I found the pod go difficult so this may be even harder. But the sound Brett is getting is amazing. I don’t know how you could replicate that live in smaller gigs. I know Brett uses it live in stadiums.
It doesn’t have to be deep…Unless you want it to be….I used several of the factory presets the first 6 months ..Even the factory presets sound incredible…Once you learn the workflow, which doesn’t take long,it’s not that complicated….It’s an amazing device…I still love my real amps and a few pedals here and there, but man,The AxeFXIII sounds so good…..Pretty much any tone you can dream up is in that box….
Hey Brett, a really nice sounding guitar. There's a second version of this guitar with a FLOYD ROSE vibrato! A comparsion of both guitars would be very interesting, especially how the single coil pickups sound...??? Thanks.
Hello Brett I’m new to your channel and i must say your community mind set is fantastic i have a Kemper and a line 6 helix plus many pedals and amps that i love i am always interested in new tech as i see the value in my studio to be able to find some sound to do a job. I do however love that pure amp sound one gets from just plugging in to a real amp but man you sure do get those eighties and nineties rock sounds with that Axe fx unit. Do you go through an amp cab or through an audio interface interesting to find out because through my headphones or my monitors it come across quite awesome keep up the great work from across the boarder in Adelaide.
Hi Michael. Thanks for the kind words. In this little studio, when creating presets or demos like this, I run the Fractal gear through a pair of PreSonus R8's that sit on either side of the Mac screen. They're true and loud enough to give me a realistic representation of what I hope you're hearing too. You're not hearing what I'm hearing, however, unless you're running the same monitors, because the Axe-FX III is feeding Logic direct via USB. So it always pleases me to know that my sounds are OK at your end as well. If I'm voicing for stage I run the Axe-FX III or FM9 or FM3 through a pair of Atomic CLR monitors seated like wedges on the floor - loudly. They give me a fair idea of what I can expect on concert stages where NEXO or Db Tech or some other high-end monitors are supplied. In that situation our monitor man, Matt Gardiner, knows to keep them panned, with totally flat EQ unless I ask for a little high pass rolloff at 120Hz or similar. I would do this when 15" monitors are supplied to try and tighten them up a bit. Typically they sit at around 105dB or thereabouts - about the same as a couple of 4x12 V30 cabs slamming you. Good fun.
Hi Brett, are you using the presonus R8’s in your studio when making this video or are you pumping out the sound through a speaker cab? Sounds great here through headphones
Yes, Steve. R8's for this and most of the other videos. I drive them pretty hard - 90dB or thereabouts. It gives me a better 'battle volume' perception but can be fatiguing after a while so I try to take healthy breaks.
I've got an old Vox with digital effects from 07... which is nothing like this! The advancement of digital is insane. They react to your pick attack like the amps they're mimicking, pick soft & it's clean & twangy, give it a belt & it drives...freaks me out how gd they're getting.
My main problem with modeling gear, is that it's only as good so long as it's supported. True with anything computer based, really. Once a website goes dark, once a connector cable becomes obsolete, once your gear gets a microscopic bad solder joint in a motherboard. Then it's over for that bit of gear. The built in obsolescence renders anything in the tech realm, very temporary at best. And this is in a field where you can realistically expect, and look forward to passing down your instruments, amps, and fx, for generations.
If a site goes dark, the gear doesn’t stop working. The algorithms in the FAS gear are equal to my boutique amps, and the hardware is extremely well designed and made, so, IF something happened and I wanted to switch to some other, equally good equipment I would. In between now and then I have the best of both worlds, tube amps that are great sounding, and killer modelers that are amazing values.
@@8sigreg you WIll have your gear, and be able to use it _for a while_. But with any tech gear, laptop, PC, or even a module in a car, once the support stops the clock starts ticking. And these components are particularly fragile. One microscopic solder break in a SMD and it's pretty much game over for that unit. They're not made to be repaired anymore, just replaced. So once the support is gone... It's the same way with high end sound systems. They'll work until they don't, then if they're not supported, even if the company is still active and doing well, you'll have to replace it. Modern times.
I’ve watched a ton of your videos a you are one of the few people showing off this guitar in UA-cam. Great tones!
Thanks for the support and kind words. All the best to you.

I could not agree more about the HALO... its incredible!
Awesome! Sounds amazing. I can’t wait for the new firmware to come out and give this patch a go. Thanks
Brett I don't think I've ever heard a bad tone from you, pretty damn phenomenal.

EXCELLENT sounds.
Excellent as always looking forward to play with the preset when 4 released
Absolutely love this vid and thanks for the preset
It would be cool to hear the Shawn Tubbs Tilt overdrive into the Keeley Halo into two Vox AC30TB amps setup inside the Axe!
Perfect preset for a strat!
My Mustang GTX will just have to do. I do understand were your coming from Brett. The AXE FX III sounds awesome.
There's nothing wrong with the Mustangs, Greg. The example I demoed here was crazy good.
@@BrettKingman I just love watching you play. I love Aussie rock and rock in general. and yes i would love an AXE FXIII
That's just beautiful Burgs
