- Firstly, thanks to Roger aka "R.D." over on the Fractal forum for his tips and tricks, most of which I've used here. This video deals with the never-ending quest for the classic EVH 'Brown' sound and offers some pointers on how to achieve it with the Fractal Audio Axe-FX III (or FM3) specifically. However the same principles could be applied with any given, fully equipped modelling device. Rock on. I hope you have a great Sunday.

Jeez. I, too, am a connoisseur of all sounds Brown. I bought a Kemper specifically for that. But holy hell, this is awesome. You may have just convinced me to switch to Fractal. The ease of the manipulation is beautiful.
@@Paul_Lenard_Ewing I was on the preorder list for the Neural. After too many delays, i canceled and bought the Kemper Stage. I'm glad i did. Neural might eventually be the 'right' product, but at present, i'm happy with the Kemper, and have already had a Fractal (AX8), although under less than ideal circumstances. I don't have amps to capture, so the Neural's competency/ease in that respect is moot. I don't use the device's hardware UI, so that touch screen is also moot. I just want great tones and a vast library, and so for that, the Kemper is fantastic. What i like about the Fractal is that you can edit without 'degrading' a profile that is meant to be used within a narrow range of the captured characteristics, and that you don't have to weed through 'bad' profiles. But, i'm now at the point where i have enough (almost) profiles and presets for my needs, so the searching is nearly done and i can just enjoy playing the guitar again. I may eventually try the Quad Cortex, but then that just means i'd have to start the process over again, and i'm happy to wait another year or so for that.
I just bought the FX III today just because of 1 tone I heard on youtube!
Brett ! THANKS so much for the shout out ! You explain it so much better than I could and you take it SO much further too ! The change to the cabinet panning makes it so much more "chewy" ( for lack of a better word ) ! Great work ! BTW - the playing ain't "half bad" either !!!!

Wow and a huge thank you for taking the time to make this Vid. Amazing sound!! Oddly when i duplicate exactly what you did on my Ax 3 it doesnt sound at all like yours. Same pickups and same everything. Really curious why its so different. Mine is lacking gain and dynamics. Thanks for what you do.
What are you using for speakers? I found that makes the biggest difference when it comes to fractal -- also, I am assuming you used the same IRs?

Hi, Brett. The EVH sound you got is pretty amazing but it'd to be nice to taste it in a bass-drums-vocal and expecially keys mix. I think this sound could be a little "lossy" of that "presence" of the "real thing". Anyway, nice video !.
