    I think this is some fascinating stuff and a window into how top guys are actually looking at these nodes. There's not a lot of content like this out there. Feel free to call me stupid, but if IP is underbluffing missed front door flush draw combos in the second hand and not compensating with other candidates like JT, wouldn't that make EVERY bluff catch strictly worse, including Ah8h?

    • @2CardConfidence
      @2CardConfidence  3 місяці тому +1

      Glad you find it valuable!
      And yes, you're exactly right. If they're under bluffing hearts and not compensating with other combos, that would be a deviation in frequency. Which would make all bluff catchers worse.

    • @NoLongerGrilling
      @NoLongerGrilling 3 місяці тому

      For the A8hh to be a good call, opponent needs to not only underbluff hearts, but also overbluff the JT and other combos in order to meet required freq. Both are extremely unlikely, so it’s better to just keep snap folding ftw vs anyone not named Linus and Stefan 😅

    For the second scenario, this is why they invented block bet... but here already the turn raise was not make sense as Q,K type of hands, straigth draws, flush draws, etc call you. I think it is a check as a KQ board is favoring your range, you for sure who called you on the flop that has at least a Q, a flush draw, a straigth draw, etc. Worst case you can make fold a 7, but that can be done with a smaller size bet. This second secanrio was badly played, on the river that hero call was just the cherry on the top how this player got punished for his bad play.
    A8 in the first scenario seems a good call, but many factors has to be included. First of all, forget to continue on the turn with a 1/3 bet was a mistake as if then comes the over raise then you can fold your cards easily as nothing out there for your opponent, only 45 and 97 combos... and 97 probably folds pre-flop, so what left is 45 as a equity bluff.
    So we saw the earlier made mistakes what lead to the consequences and we started analizing the "consequence" parts, where actually the player already hanged himself... The moral of this stroy: A professional poker player even not committing the mistakes, so the consequences will not come after all.

    • @2CardConfidence
      @2CardConfidence  2 місяці тому

      What I hope to do is to spark some ideas about how and what to study. So for example after watching this video, you could go ahead and use the concepts for hands you want to analyze yourself. How many potential bluffs arrive at the river, how many of them would have to bluff in theory, how many would you expect your opponent to actually bluff?

    Why does the A blocker in the first hand matter. I understand that it unblocks a lot of bluffs since A high would normally check back but doesn't it also unblock value. Why would we compare hands that bluff to hands that check when we already know that villian bet. All that A high blocks is villains checking range not his value range. Great video by the way I'm just trying to understand

    • @2CardConfidence
      @2CardConfidence  3 місяці тому +1

      Blocking or unblocking bluffs plays such a big role because bluffs occur less often than value bets in a balanced betting range. For example in these 2 hands, bluffs make up ~1/3 of the betting range and value bets make up ~2/3.
      So if you block one combo of bluffs, the impact it has on the overall range is bigger than blocking one combo of value.
      Extremely simplified example: if you have A8hh and your opponent's range would hypothetically consist only of AKhh, AKdd (2 value combos) and A4hh (1 bluff combo), having A8hh blocks 1 combo of value and 1 combo of bluffs. But what's left is 1 combo of value and 0 combos of bluffs in our opponents range.

    • @att3578
      @att3578 3 місяці тому

      @2CardConfidence I really appreciate the explanation, but it's my current understanding that the Ace doesn't appear in either villians bluffing range or value range. I get what you are saying about blockers/unblockers having a greater effect on bluffing combos but it seems like the Ace shouldn't have any effect on this hand at all. Doesn't villian essentially eliminate any Aces from his range once he puts out a bet? Can't we already decide based off of that information that he can never have an Ace? Since he never has an Ace, why would we worry about blocking a card he can't even have? Once again thank you for the response. You are my favorite creator when it comes to teaching poker so I really appreciate the time to answer this question.

    • @2CardConfidence
      @2CardConfidence  3 місяці тому

      Yes it's exactly what you're saying. That's what unblocking is :) Blocking(= having) a card he cannot have. Because by NOT having a card he could have and would bluff, we improve the chances that he has it and thus increase his bluffing frequency

    • @2CardConfidence
      @2CardConfidence  3 місяці тому

      Example from the video:
      If we had T8, we would block some Tx combos that are bluffs. So the overall frequency of bluffs he has drops by a small amount.
      If we don't have the T or any other card that would be used as a bluff by him (like the A), we don't block value hands, but at least we also don't block bluffs and reduce the amount of bluffs that our opponent can have
