    I saw footage of a sparring session between the two and it definitely looked like although Haney was physically bigger Shakur was able to handle him fairly easy. Watching your breakdown I know see why. Shakur’s style is perfect against Haney. Still would be a great fight as both guys are super talented.

      A control and manipulation/clinch game isn’t about strength necessarily. It’s skillful. The stronger man doing it looks different. A good example of a fighter with brut strength using control and manipulation is Beterbiev. That looks a lot different.

      On the other hand, Haney looked uncomfortable whenever Kambosos switched to southpaw. Kambosos didn't capítalize, but the switch created the desired advantages ffor which it is intended all fight. You can't give Loma or Tank those angles and outside front foot position.

    Joey’s point about Haney having to sell out as the fight progresses is a high possibility and a great point. However, I can’t see Haney actually doing it. And if he did, he’d risk getting stopped. Keep in mind though that Haney is VERY young. So by the time they actually fight, he may develop more against southpaws. I think his next fight vs. Loma will say a lot as far as his maturation in open stance fights. Let’s see if he’s improved at all because we can only go off of what actually happens on film. One thing’s for sure is that he’s putting in the work. My biggest concern for Haney would be defending back hand punches in open stance fights. I think he can figure out how to get his jab to be more effective with proper game planning and repetition. But defense is reactive as opposed to being initiated like a jab would be. He’s been defending that way for a very long time in those scenarios. He may find those habits much harder to break. But what the hell do I know?

    I think Shakur will surprise everyone, and Haney... I actually see Shakur developing into more a boxer/puncher... The old adage: "Punchers are born, not made"... Which is somewhat correct, but the best punchers are grown, that is, they evolve after mastering how, where & when to place punches, with unnoticed speed and force... Indeed, the sweet science.
    Shakur is the best I've seen since Sugar Ray Robinson... He is a young MASTER, who will continue to evolve into an uncanny connection & awareness of the oneness of it all... Such cannot be written or articulated, but I assure you, I know exactly what I am saying, at 71, never been to the doctor.
    Self employed, came up in the streets, constant incarceration, and boxed my way thru it all... Did not take any losses. Not bragging.., I am also a Master artist, and have never been employed.., accept for myself. I live by my skills, as I know and learned from the Sweet Science, it is a philosophy and a way of life...
    Watch Shakur evolve... You all will see that I am 💯

    Awesome stuff! Big up Joey. Quality Breakdown. Hard to see anything other than a Stevenson win on points, likely UD. If you are going to beat Shakur you are going to have to fight him, rough him up and maybe even get a little dirty (not that I am advocating that at all). That just ain't Haney's game. Without Haney's jab firing on all cylinders like it usually does vs orthodox fighters, he is just going to get out boxed, even if he has some success with that southpaw killa. It won't be enough. Haney may have some early success as you eluded too but Stevenson will just adjust and pull away. Cant see Haney letting it all hang out if he needs a KO either.

I see Shakur Victorious also, probably by UD. That being said Shakur may break him down to the body and effective left crosses, Hooks, and com os for the Dome. Haney has good footwork but I hate that he carries his left low. It's a pet peeve and I get the up jab a la Tommy Hearns. Alas, the Hit.an was a 1 punch killer akin to a Bob Foster in the tall slim crazy leverage and power. Hearns wasn't a Kayo artist in the amateurs but developed into one. Will Haney ever do so?!? He may. Question did you box before??? Look forward to your Post. Peace.

    Based on the conceciao fight Haney will hurt shakur with the straight right. I'm telling you he's a sucker for that punch. He doesn't move his head off line and over exploits his southpaw angle. and has now complrtrly commited to cupping his rear hand to his lower collar bone at a significant height disparity to where his lead hand will be probing or blocking. Haney has the speed and reach to do it. And even though Haney may have the lesser defense...I feel like that one LARGE defensive flaw of shakurs will be a fight maker. He is just wide. Wide open to the right hand of a Sharp quick boxer. Haney might have lost their sparring sessions but go see whoo guessed it the right hand punch Haney rocks shakur with I believe in their first session..with no Headgear he's sleep. Lieteraaly. Kur on the ropes is a bad place to be. Haney is a very underrated and dangerous fighter when he takes the lead and has his opponent on the ropes.

    • @Duel1982
      @Duel1982 Рік тому

      @@Rbeezy440 never said he would TODAY but all those years back he did catch Shakur with multiple right hand shots that without headgear woildve definitely either lost Shakur the round. Or gotten him in serious trouble. I don't care how hard he hits. He's sharp af w it. And for all of Shakurs technical advantages his one biggest tell is that he keeps his backhand to low and to close to his body. Against smaller, less accurate fighters like Oscar and Robson he was able to get away with this. But that one tell alone makes Haney the agresspr in the fight. And removes Shakurs ability to control center ring. I'm order for him to avoid that shot as we saw in the sessions he had rp use his legs more than normal. Whereas Haney was just coming forward..which is actually a position he usually is never in and is deceptively effective at.. (look at the Moran knockout). The consensus seems to be that Shakur would outbox Haney but I beg to differ because unlike the pressure fighters Stevenson has fought Haney is not one..he's awkward when he has to lead. And much quicker than any pressure fighter Shakur has faced amateur or pro with the exception of robeosy Ramirez who beat Shakur..by landing, yeah you guessed it. The right hand. I think Haney shofks everyone..backs Shakur up and makes him overly defensive with that one punch. Wins a close decision. Shakur probably missing less and being slicker but Haney getting through with a power shot that takes the judges attention here and there. Just how I see it.

    We see you Joey 👀The Boxing Gems dream team coming together 💎
    Until size starts to become an issue there is no pure boxer at or around 35 that will beat Shakur.
    Question, Haney was losing the jab joust against JoJo who isnt known for having an elite jab. Is this just due to inexperience in the open stance matchup? Or do you see this as something Haney will continue to have problems with? Also is there anything one can do to combat Shakur's pins and frames on the inside? We need a THE SYSTEM style video on controls and the inside game👀

    Haney did fight another southpaw (aside for Jojo). His name was George Kambosos, the Art of War strategy genius. Lol.
    Well, as much as Kambosos tried to fight from the southpaw stance, his natural habits and rhythm steps had him returning back to his orthodox stance. He tried to beat Haney fighting southpaw which is the way to do it. Unfortunately, Kambosos is very right hand dominant from orthodox. I often feel, to be a true natural switch hitter, you want to be without that dominant personality. Dominant mental wiring causes dominant process patterns (such as being right-handed) while leaving other potential patterns dormant (left-hand patterns). Alternatively, a more seamless mental flow state allows for more possible adaptations which can lead to greater effectiveness. There is an Art to Genius.

    The way to beat haney is to get on the inside with him and then break the clinch when he tries to grab you.
    If he can't keep it at a distance he doesn't know how to deal with it. So he either steps away or clinches. With Shakur I don't think that's going to work. If haney can keep Shakur from coming in, that's his winning ticket.

    Kur used to beat him up in sparring as far as I know but Haney has improved massively since then & has developed an imposing physique. His physicality is what's gonna be the difference in pros. If you go back and watch their sparring tape, they were basically teens back then but now Haney looks SO MUCH bigger compared to Shak. First off I got to say I’m a fan of channel and new to boxing I think Shakur is the better boxer out of two he gets hit less to me and more of the puncher but I do feel like Haney has the tools to beat him ( athleticism/size ) & even tho shakur dominated his last fight I do feel like he can be vulnerable to right hands bc he never really moves his head and I think if Haney is to win it would be by a right hand and more aggressive style he can’t outbox shakur period. @TheWokeSportsFan Рік тому

      Agreed 100%. People are sleep on Haney skillset and seem like most just don't like Haney as much as Shakur. Devin skillset is right up there with Shakurs but he is bigger, longer and more athletic. The guys Shakur fought in a older Herring and a small Valdez played into his hands. Haney is much better in every way then them. Even looking st the sparring when Haney was 16 and Shakur 18 b4 Devin went pro. It was close and of the 3 rounds I gave 2 to Haney. Shakur is the best at what he does but Devin has better physical tools and skill for skill is right up there plus he has more tools in general imo. It will be a good one but idk why people are so convince Shakur washes Haney. It's weird.

    When speakin of inside fighting how do u just skip over Haney vs Jorge Linares?

    • @BoxingGems
      @BoxingGems  Рік тому

      The last fight vs a southpaw which was after the Linares fight is better to study. Plus, Linares isn’t more skilled on the inside than Diaz and Diaz isn’t as skilled on the inside as Shakur. Shit, Linares was relaxing on the clinch/hold and getting hit for it. That’s not a inside fighter. Haney was physical on the inside at times, but it wasn’t exactly skillful. A lot of 50/50’s, a lot of holding just like Joey said in this video.
