Astronomers' theory of the Star of Bethlehem

- The story of the three wise men who followed the Star of Bethlehem to find the baby Jesus is an enduring part of the Christmas story. And it turns out there is historical and scientific evidence of a special star at a time and place that aligns with accounts in the Bible.

Amen our Star Of Bethlehem has perfect timing! Merry Christmas and God Bless You.
“Call upon the name of the Adoni.” His name was not “Jesus.” If you have to use “his name” to be saved, why would Yiu insist upon the wrong name? If the name is special, isn’t it important to actually know that name?
What if they changed his name to satan? Would you still call on the name the Catholics created.?

@jay c. smith, God is more angry with the lukewarm, because they "believe" in him but they don't even know the kinda power he has, he can strip them of their presence in one day
Gives me goosebumps. The Truth is in the Bible.

It makes no sense that many Christians are opposed to astrology. Look up the story of how astrologers knew who Abraham was and tried to get rid of him just like herod did with Christ. The star signs indicated they were destined to be religious royals. Read the book 2038: great pyramid prophecy by John Auken in it he explains the great pyramid is oriented magnetic north with an apex angle towards Bethlehem yet it was built long before Christ lived. The measurements indicate timelines and 18 years from 2020 is 2038. I wonder what it means for people born under this conjunction

@@adrianofficialmusick I think it's an opinion and you're never going to get people to agree. For example every year there's a big celebration on news years. 365 days is not arbitrary that's a complete orbit. So people celebrate and gather, there's a big transformation but people will dispute if that's astrology. Well how isn't it? There's nothing arbitrary or numerological about that measurement of time and people aren't directly celebrating because of the orbit of our planet...but it shapes their activities and people set out resolutions. How isn't that astrology? Each person has their own bias. n astrologer wants to think it is the planets shaping human behavior, a reductionist /wants/ to think it's meaningless.

The birth of Jesus is one of the most significant events of our Christian faith but there always seems to be some confusion on some issues with regards to whether He was born in a manger or somewhere else. Who saw Him, and where they saw Him, and about the "star" that guided the wise men (Magi). Luke chapter 2:7-12 says, "And she gave birth to her first born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a 'manger' because there was no room in the inn." So, yes, He was born in a manger. "And in the same region there were 'shepherds' out in the field, keeping a watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them...and said, 'fear not, for behold I bring you news of great joy. For unto you is born this day a Savior who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." (v16) "And they went and found the baby lying in a manger." So, it was the shepherds, and not the Magi, who visited Him in a manger.
Matthew 2:1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, 'Where is the one who has been born king of the jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him." (v7) "Then Herod called the Magi and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared" (v9) After they heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it 'stopped' over the place where the child was." So, the star was a moving object that only the Magi could see. (v11) On coming to the 'house' they saw the child and bowed down and worshiped him.' So, Jesus was in a house when the Magi visited him and could have very well been several months to more than a year old at that time. Remember, king Herod had ordered all boys 2 years and under to be killed which coincides with the timelines.
Also, no one knows exactly when Christ was born. Some historians and/or theologians say he was born during the harvest period, or thereabouts, and some say after the new year, depending on which calendar is used. But, after all is said and done, and whether or not we agree on these issues, the important thing is that he was born, and born God incarnate. And that if it were not for his birth, life, death and resurrection, there would be no salvation and all of mankind would be doomed.
There is so much more that could be said but I hope that, in some small way, this might help clear up some misconceptions and I pray that all have a wonderful Christmas with loved ones. And for those who might be alone during this special time, remember that Jesus said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you!" You are not alone! God Bless Everyone!
Most do not know that a "manger" is a feeding or watering trough for animals. So, if he was born in a manger, Mary was laying down in an empty feeding or watering trough. A large one, of course.
When Jesus came to earth this star is appeared, now the star is going to appear again, think what will happen?
The last time this happened was 800 years ago he wasn’t seen 800 years ago it’s just to signify the king aka Jesus and his birth it’s a special moment that not many get to embrace Jesus was last seen over a thousand years ago.

Here are several defining events that support 6April,1B.C. as the date of the birth of Christ:
- triple conjunction of Regulus by Jupiter from Sep 3BC until May 2BC: referred to as the "Coronation" by the Magi, when Jupiter makes a crowning loop above Regulus the royal star in the constellation Leo, symbol of the tribe of Judah, David and Solomon, Kings of Israel and antecedents of Mary mother of Jesus.
- grouping of Venus, Mars, and Saturn during that same time. A few years earlier (May 7BC) Jupiter and Saturn were in conjunction in the morning sky. I think this could have been about the same time (86th year of the reign of judges) that Samuel stood upon the wall and prophesied that “five more years cometh, then cometh the Son of God.” It is significant that he did not include the present year and that the fifth year would end before night without darkness. It would come in the beginning of the sixth year from that time. He was very specific. Even the unbelieving Nephites knew the time of the prophesy and they marked their calendars so they could threaten the believers.
- on 17 Jun 2BC Jupiter* converges with Venus: the symbol of the King of Heaven joining with the symbol of Motherhood, nine-and-a-half months before the birth of Jesus, perhaps this was the time of Mary's annunciation by the angel Gabriel, and the conception of the Son of God.
- on Tuesday, 6 Apr 1BC, with a full moon in Virgo, Jupiter in Leo, the sun in Aries the Ram (the Lamb of God) with Venus in conjunction with Uranus in Pisces the Fishes, Mercury nearby, this was the unusually early dawning of the day: As the shepherds watched their flocks by night, an angel of the Lord appeared unto them, and the glory of the Lord shown round about them.
- it was suddenly “as bright as mid-day” at 0130 Universal Time (UT), 3:30am local time in Jerusalem, "and the glory of the Lord shown round about them" three hours before sunrise, and they went with haste to see the babe in Bethlehem.
- at the same moment, at the setting of the sun in Zarahemla 6:30pm, in Zarahemla (at Teotiuacan), near present-day Mexico City (99 degrees W longitude), about a 9-hour time difference with Jerusalem (35 degrees E longitude), there was no darkness at the setting of the sun, neither was there any darkness throughout the night, over the whole world, north and south, east and west.
- Fifteen hours later, rising in the east: a new star at the setting of the sun in Jerusalem. The new star was likely what astronomers now refer to as a "hypernova": a short-lived but brilliant explosion of a star. The rising of the star at that season in Virgo, near the star Spica (symbolized as a sheaf of wheat) very near to the celestial equator so it would be visible to all the Earth. Though it was bright enough (at about 0130 UT) to light up the sky as if it was mid-day, it faded enough after 15 hours so that is was visible in the sky as a star as it arose in the east that evening to the land of Jerusalem, and to all the world in their turn at sunset (24 hours after its onset) in Zarahemla.
- the eclipse of the moon on 29 Dec 1BC*: a partially-eclipsed moon rising in the east (Yet Another Eclipse for Herod by Dr. John P. Pratt) that marks the last few months of the life of Herod the Great (according to interpretations of Josephus this was 6 years before Herod's son Archaleus was exiled), however Archaleus likely predated his 9-year reign to the earliest that he had authority, which was when his father began to be ailing in 4 BC.
- the death of Herod the Great shortly before the Passover Feast in AD1 (there’s a wide disagreement among historians on this subject).
- the death of Augustus in AD15
- the appointment of Sejanus by Tiberius Caesar as his regent as Tiberius retires to Capri (AD26)
- the corrupt appointment of Pontius Pilate, a fellow Praetorian, in AD26-27 by Sejanus (see "Sejanus and the Chronology of Christ's Death").
- Sejanus' disgrace and brutal execution when Tiberius discovers that he was betrayed by Sejanus (AD31)
- reluctance of Pontius Pilate to cause any controversy at the trial of Jesus, during the period of purging of Sejanus' co-conspirators; thereafter (Mar AD37) recalled to Rome, exiled, and either executed or dies ignominiuosly (precise fate is unknown).
- the full moon on Friday, 3 Apr AD33 marking the Passover that began the weekend when Christ was crucified. This day on the Nephite calendar: the first month, the fourth day of the month, in the thirty-fourth year since the coming of Christ. (However, this is off a few days if the Nephites were on a strict lunar calendar. If it was the "fourth day of the first month" amongst the Nephites wouldn't the four-day old moon phase only be crescent and not full? The four-day old moon would have been 25 Mar.)*
*Astronomy dates are taken from Fourmilab Your Night Sky calendar.
- inspiration of Dionysius Exyguus (the humble) in developing the Anno Domini Nostri Jesu Christi calendar with such accuracy in AD525, responding to a commission to develop an Easter calendar. His motive was partly to eliminate the calendar that was named in honor of the Caesar Diocletian who persecuted and killed Christians. He established 25 Dec of 1BC as the date of Christ's birth secondarily, based primarily on the church tradition that Mary's annunciation came on 25 Mar of that year. Dionysius is ridiculed by the historians, but I think that even in his designation of the winter holiday he was inspired. What a blessing to lighten up the season! Otherwise, the birth of Christ would have conflicted directly with the Feast of the Passover.
- Historians are in conflict, and their interpretations are widely varied. Reasoning based on archealogical evidence and the historians of the time provides no precise time or date. Indeed, “experts” vary widely in their estimation. In spite of my limited research and exposure, I am inclined to stick to what the Book of Mormon reveals:
* Christ lived thirty-three years, within a few days of the feast of the Passover with both his birth and death.
* Both His birth and death came shortly after the end of the Nephite year, evidence that they followed the Hebrew calendar (month starts with the new moon, and the year begins with the month of the new moon nearest the vernal equinox, according to the law of Moses).
* Time at the going down of the sun in Zarahemla would have coincided with shepherds watching their flocks by night in the early-morning hours nine time zones to the east, before 6:30 pm Zarahemla, 3:30 am Jerusalem.
*Dates and positions of astronomical objects according to Fourmilab Your Sky (1AD = 1, 1BC = 0, 2BC = -1, etc.)6

@@NdreeZ7000 I have always loved astronomy, and recent access to star maps that go back in history have fed my curiosity. I believe that Jehovah created our world, and it is not coincidental that the motion of the earth, moon and stars show us signs, seasons, and light. He is the God of Light. On the night that He came into a mortal body, there was no darkness in all the earth. We are God’s children. You and I are brothers and sisters.
Which star maps do you use? I haven't been able to find any that goes back that further in time.
What these talking heads are missing is that Jupiter actually went Retrograde around Regulus. Get a star program and take it back to 3AD and see for yourself. Regulus is known as the staff of David and Jupiter is the Messianic star in Jewish Theology. The two coming together had meaning to the Magi.
The Venus-Jupiter conjunction was on June 17, 2 B.C. That corresponds to the date for the birth of Jesus given in Luke 3:1,23. Modern scholars prefer 4 BC.
19 May 3BC Mercury/Saturn, 12 June 3BC Venus/Saturn, 12 Aug 3BC Venus Jupiter, 31 Aug 3 BC Mercury/Venus, 14 Sept 3BC Jupiter/Regulus, 17 Feb 2BC Jupiter/Regulus, 8 May 2BC Jupiter/Regulus, 17 June 2BC Jupiter/Venus, 26 Aug 2BC Mars/Jupiter, 25 Dec 2BC Jupiater stationary over Bethlehem.

Yay Santa!
The messiah was born in the 7th month on the 15th day. The start of Tabernacles. So the Christmas star is not logical. Also, like he said, it was a celebration of the winter solstice.

There was no census in 3 BCE. "Then again, with consular imperium, I conducted a lustrum alone when Gaius Censorinus and Gaius Asinius were consuls [8 BCE], in which lustrum were counted 4,233,000 heads of Roman citizens" - RES GESTAE DIVI AUGUSTI.
We know that Caesar Augustus presided over at least three censuses, which were finalized and celebrated via a lustratio ritual in 28 BCE, 8 BCE, and 14 CE. Each of Augustus' censuses were spaced 20 years apart, except for the census in 14 CE, which took place 21 years after the census in 8 BCE, because in 2 BCE Augustus celebrated his silver jubilee and this coincided with the 750th anniversary of Rome, so it wasn't counted as being part of the twenty year census cycle. The decree to conduct each census was issued five years (a lustrum) prior to it being finalized and celebrated via a lustratio ritual.
The author (or redactor) of Luke clearly states "in those days, ... there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the inhabited land of the Empire (οἰκουμένην) should be registered for taxation (ἀπογράφεσθαι)" and that "Yosef also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem ... to be registered for taxation with Miriam, his betrothed wife, being great with child" (Luke 2:1-5).
We know that Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa died in March 12 BCE and that Augustus officially became Pontifex Maximus on 6 March 12 BCE, because the former Pontifex Maximus, Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, had died in 13 BCE. If the lustratio ritual that marked the end of the tax registration (ἀπογράφεσθαι) happened in 8 BCE, then wouldn't the decree for the aforementioned lustrum have been issued in 13 BCE, five years prior to 8 BCE, when the lustratio ritual was performed? Wouldn't this mean that Yosef and Miriam probably journeyed to Bethlehem sometime after 13 BCE but well before the end of the lustrum in 8 BCE?
Further, Luke 3:23 states that "Jesus" (Yeshu) was nearly thirty years old, when "John" (Yochanan) began preaching the "baptism of repentance" (Luke 3:3), which Luke 3:1 states happened in the "fifteenth year" of the "ἡγεμονίας" (hegemonias) of Tiberius. According to Liddell & Scott's "Greek-English Lexicon," the word "ἡγεμονία" means, "chief command, sovereignty or simply rule."
In 4 CE, Emperor Caesar Augustus adopted Tiberius and grants him proconsular power and tribunician power; hence, in the mind of Luke's author (or redactor) wouldn't Tiberius' "rule" (hegemonia) have started in 4 CE, which would make the "fifteenth year" of his "ἡγεμονία" about 19 CE?
Tribunician Power was established in the early days of the Roman Republic. The office of Tribune of the Plebs ultimately carried with it wide ranging powers and protections, including inviolability of person. On 1 July 23 BC, Augustus obtained a lifetime grant of the tribunician power, an important step in the establishment of an autocracy as it gave him the absolute right of veto as well as the authority to convene the Senate. Tribunician power was generally assumed at the commencement of each new reign, though some emperors had already received it during their predecessor's reign (e.g. Tiberius, Titus, Marcus Aurelius, etc.). It is of special interest when followed by a numeral as this allows a coin to be assigned to its precise year of issue, the tribunician power being renewed annually for the purpose of regnal dating.
Yes, Tiberius was granted tribunician power for five years in 8 BCE. Although this power was the formula for imperial authority it did not label Tiberius as successor. However, after the untimely deaths of Lucius in 2 CE and Gaius in 4 CE, Augustus had no other choice but to adopt Tiberius at which time he grants him proconsular power and renews his tribunician power for ten years; hence, Tiberius' "ἡγεμονία" (hegemonia) as imperial successor begins in 4 CE; thus making 19 CE the "fifteenth year" of his "ἡγεμονία," right?
If "Jesus" (Yeshu) was thirty years old in 19 CE, then doesn't this mean he must have been born sometime in 12 BCE? I ask this, because if one assumes that Tiberius' "ἡγεμονία" (hegemonia) began on 18 September 14 CE, then his "fifteenth year" would have in 29 CE; and if "Jesus" is about thirty years old in 29 CE, then he could only have been born in 1 BCE or 1 CE, which is impossible! Why? Because we know from the story about the Wise Ones (who were probably Babylonian-Jewish חֲכָמִים - Chakamiym and not pagan astrologers), that Herod the Great was alive when "Jesus" (Yeshu) was born and we know that Herod the Great died in 4 BCE.
I would suggest that Luke was stating that, "This census took place before (πρώτη) Quirinius was governor of Syria," that is to say, before the taxation in 6 CE that resulted in the rebellion led by Judas the Galilean." His reason for adding this parenthetic phrase was probably to distance the followers of Yeshua from the Zealots in the eyes of the High Priest, Theophilus ben Ananus, to whom he wrote his gospel and the book of Acts - "The former (πρῶτον) treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach...." (Acts 1:1). The grammatical objects to reading πρώτη as "before" rather than as "first" can be overcome if one sees in Luke 2:2 the hand of a redactor, who was ignorant of the censuses and/or was confused by Luke's parenthetic allusion to the 6 CE tax rebellion and sought to "correct" Luke.
It's B. C. (Before Christ) & A. D. (After Death). Check out documents & Proclamations written in "The old days" & the dates refer to "The year of our Lord" . . . A.D. or B.C. Only in recent times, some Jesus-hater came up with B.C.E & C.E., (Before Common Era & Common Era), even though the dividing time line was the life of the Messiah, (in Greek, it's The Christ), that made that division.

Isaiah 60:6
''Caravans of camels will cover your land, young camels of Midian and Ephah, and all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and frankincense and proclaiming the praises of the LORD.''
It isn't anywhere in 3BC.
I found this in June,17,1BC through the use of Stellarium.
It was set in the West, like the 3 wisemen said, "we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him" - Matthew 2
I think this make far more sense actually.
And if Jesus was born on 9/11/1BC. Then 9/11/2001 is a reflection of that day. (I don't know for a fact, if he was.)
But the attack on the Twin tower was orchestrated.
People say that Anti-Christs mocked his birth on this day every year?
Seems like an interesting case to me.
Holy shit
Just thinking that to, and my dad was close to the towers on that exact day, he tells me that he saw the cloud of smoke as he was going to work
Researching a bit more on this, I realized Stellarium counted 0 and there is no 0 BC, Just year 1 and on. So that's 2BC.
A bit confusing.
But since 9/11/1BC was supposed to be revelation 12 sign, there was no crown of 12 stars. Just Virgo having 12 stars.
Look at September,23th,2017 Jupiter was wobbling around the belly for nine months and then pained to be delivered!
On this day, Mar,Venus, and Mercury lined up perfectly with Leo for the crown of 12 stars on her head!
She was clothed in the sun, and moon at her feet!
It's much closer to what the Bible described!
I read somewhere that the planetary conjuction was actually closer to the winter solstice, about Dec. 21 or maybe I'm thinking of Jupiter and Saturn
Look up the planetary symbols of eilat stone, they are Venus Saturn and Jupiter. Also look in to Hamsa yoga in Vedic astrology and Hamsa ✋ hand . They are studded with eilat stone

And the question begs: how did they see the star during the day and kept on traveling ?
Could it be a divine intervention that this star is an unusual one sent by God?
The star that appeared in April 1 B.C. was so bright that it lit up the night sky as if it were midday. It was likely what is now referred to as a hypernova. It would have been visible during the day for many weeks. Daily motion of distant stars brings them about one degree toward the west in the sky each day that passes, After 90 days, time for the wise men to travel to Jerusalem, it would have been high in the sky at sunset, to the south of Jerusalem. That is toward Bethlehem. The wise men didn’t follow the star continually. That would take them in circles.
@@GertR55 So right. If you have clear sky, Venus can be found in the blue sky. It’s easiest to find Venus when the crescent

• Jesus Started preaching around 27 AD-30 AD.
• He preached for 3 years. Was killed around 35 AD when a “great conjunction/Christmas star” may have been happening
• Christmas commemorates Jesus being reborn or rising from the dead, not his initial birth.
• One of the ancient church fathers said, "The son of God became a man to enable men to become sons of God."
• The point of the incarnation was not simply for God to express his love for human beings, to disclose his nature or walk in our midst, or even to identify with our struggles and yearnings. God entered this world as a human baby to fulfill his mission to rescue lost and sinful people. He took the name Jesus come which in Hebrew means "Yahweh saves."
• In the incarnation, God has fused himself with humanity, and now seeks to transform believers into the likeness of Jesus. God has come not simply to rescue us, but to remake this -- a process by which we die to our old ways of living and are reborn into new existence in God's family.
• All perceived gods are actually our alien watchers, visitors, and in a few instances troublemakers.
• Wake up.

Jesus was probably born on the feast of Trumpets ( 1st of Tishrei)(also known as Rosh Hashanah) which fell on 29th of September 2BC and falls on 26th of September 2022.
No the planets Jupiter and Venus would only stay aligned for a short time not the 8-10 months the wise men followed the star
Oh please! Get the small book by Alex Tomaras: What was "the star of Bethlehem?" -Solved!
-It's on Kindle as well, it settles the issue once and for all.
That light i think it was his Soul not a star. I can't imagine how Mary could have his Soul and spirit during the entire pregnancy it came probably came in as the Baby was born.
The other theory is it was not a star but a lighted spacecraft that hovered over the city of Bethlehem. Back in the day they could only relate to the craft as a star. Just think almost every story is relates to beings coming down from the heavens or from up above. Jesus was Gods son so it makes sense God would be watching over him from up above.
Only those calling upon the name of God shall be saved..

I'm sure the star of Bethlehem was a UFO phenomenon because I saw one stationary one hour standing. I am also of the opinion that a UFO is capable of being at one exact point of brilliant brightness.
Jesus was born on Sunday March , 7BC. The ''Star of Bethlehem' was not an astronomical or cosmological event. Joseph (Jesus' father), formed an alliance with Theudas, head of the Theraputes. The 2 in warrior mode gave themselves titles drawn from an OT verse. Joseph was the 'Star (of David) and Theudas was the 'Scepter'. The West Manassah Magi were a priestly caste of Samaritan philosophers. They were founded by Menahem and later led by Simon Zelotes. They supported the legitimacy of Jesus. When they 'followed the star' they were agreeing with Joseph that a new Davidic king had been born. Because they recognized him as king, they were accepting him as legitimate.
The Star of Bethlehem was a spacecraft that God's angels (messengers) travel in. It operated in our atmosphere, which is why it moved and hovered over the birth site after informing the shepherds. When Jesus was taken up and a "cloud received him out of their sight", guess what was in that cloud. A spacecraft that took him to the throne of God, and it took ten days to get there. He was around for 40 days after his resurrection, and he said when he arrived at the throne of God he would send the holy spirit, which was 50 days after his resurrection (Pentecost). When a very bright light shined down over Saul (renamed Paul) on the road to Damascus, it was a spacecraft. When you see the International Space Station go overhead, it looks like a moving star. If you make it into the kingdom when the second coming happens, you will be able to see a spacecraft on the ground, and you will be told by an angel, "that was the Star of Bethlehem".
Correct: the Aetherius society has more info on this. The spacecraft was a special purpose craft doing the karmic manipulations allowing for Jesus to be born among us.
The aliens piloting these draft are angelic spiritually advanced beings who live in this solar system.
The full aspect of Jesus is of the Venusian life cycle.
Don’t think so.
@@bjjetrichWhy don't you think so? Do you have an alternate explanation of how it moved in our atmosphere? How do angels get to Earth, they have to have a method of traveling through space. I don't think they have wings that work in space.
@@starjetpilot Angels can move without conventional earth-man technology.

Curiously, one researcher has the wise men arriving in Bethlehem on 12/25. I forget what year, though. Perhapsthat is where the Christmas Tradition came from. At least one Christian in the 2nd century A.D. believed that Christ was born on 12/25.
it sez that the star of bethelem is the planet where God reside so who ever pray to this star at night the God will definitely answered their prayers. Maybe its the reason why old civilization obsess with observing the starts.
That’s stupid, are you mormon?
And we still are, but that doctrine is off, by a far
SOMEBODY IS IN TROUBLE NOAH SAYS HEYYYYY WHOS THIRSTY
It is spica! Which is the star located right in the palm of of the Virgo constellation. (Jesus Christ born of a virgin) born under when spica was at the eastern horizon.
I understood that there was no independent proof of a census?
When the three wise man visited Bethlehem Jesus was already born so ...the exact date of Jesus born is not noted ....any ane please clarify me about when exactly Jesus was born.
I was thinking about my birthday today I’m a Leo Virgo. I like the fact that lion sometimes represented people or they were the sacred animal of certain people, and since I can’t be a dragon the fact that I was born August 23 makes me a Leo Virgo cusp. And the Virgo part is cool because it reminds me of the Virgin Mary and so The lion can represent Jesus and the Virgin Mary can represent a Virgo and that’s why Jesus‘s birth right there August 23. The day changes August 23 from Leo to Virgo I remember the very first horoscope I ever saw of myself I was a Leo. But I have a dual personality. Gentlemen warrior
The difference is that this is what was happening in the sky. On August 23 our Sun is still shining in Leo, not Virgo.
Um no....
NOT A CHRISTIAN ANYMORE
BUT I HAVE TO GIVE A THUMBS UP FOR THIS .....
We can pray that you will return to the one true light.
Ok I get that the 'star' could have been two planets overlapping, but how does this explain that they followed it until it came to rest over the place where Jesus lay?
bullshit and ,made up.
The naturalistic explanations are for Matthew 2:1: "For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” In Matthew 2:9, the star is clearly miraculous: "And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was." Church fathers Origen and John Chrysostom had this argument in ancient times.
After seeing Jupiter and Venus, they continued following Jupiter and by the time they say it was stopped above Bethlehem (where they already knew from prophets in the scripture that the messiah would be found in Bethlehem) it had passed around Regulas 3 times in retrograde under Leo
Check out the video The Star of Bethlehem for a better im depth description 👌

What cobblers. You have obviously never actually given it any real consideration. It is a story, written at a time they had no remote idea what they were looking at. The vast majority of people would have had no idea at all. So coming up with a preposterous story would be natural, as no one would question it. Well not for some time.
Next time you are out at night, look up, try to "follow a star". Then you might grasp how little sense it actually makes.
@@rationalmartian Astronomy was a vastly understood and to my understanding common knowledge back in the day, it was an important part of finding your way around to navigate or tell the time of day. They werent really following a star because it was moving fast enough for them to keep up with, they followed Jupiter in its retrograde after it for the first and only time came in conjunction with Regulas. Of course theyw erenr caught off guard by the sight after being told their whole lives to watch out for the sign, along with others who just knew the navigation and time part who hadnt known about it such as Herod. It didnt magically take them anywhere, they had to follow it for 2 years before they even made their way to Jesus.
I can't really follow a star because of light pollution, and don't really need to because I have what they didn't, a gps. And even then, astronomy isnt taught as a basic course because its considered useless with gps and clocks existing. Where would you like me to go exactly? To mcdonalds at midnight? In the middle of quarantine?
0:39 how can it be 3BC when Herod the great dies 4 Bc, so this whole theory flat. jesu had to be born before Heord does, assumingthe story of Matthew is reliable, which who would make a story like that when every body knew at the time when Herod died. so we are left somewhere btween 6bc or 5 bc.
So venus jupitwr and regalis? That why he called G'zeus?

Virgin = Virgo constellation. They knew Jesus was coming around that time. The time of harvest.
Keep the thoughts within the context of AKJV Bible, the Word of God said, a star, nothing else.
After you sight a bright object in the night sky, how do you then follow it to a manger. By what manner? This never made sense to me.
The wise men did NOT come to the stable where he was born. They think it was later than that.

interesting year 3 bc two planets aligned venus and jupiter... plus over the constalation that represents the lion... wich had a big meaning for the hebrews... but 2020 we have chaos and you got to ask yourself what planets are aligning and over what constalation? venus and jupiter always represented in greek mitholgy and what or who is saturn in the greek mithology ??? Hi jesus
its a circle star but shinny
Doesn’t sound right to me, since Herod the Great died in 4 BCE.
The only other point would be how that star pointed the wise men, which the Bible never says it was 3- could have been several or 50 wise men, directly to the location of the baby Jesus. I think that together with the natural phenomena in the sky, I think there was a supernatural event that only those wise men were able to perceive.
If it pointed directly, they wouldn’t have had to ask Herod!
@@alaskaaksala123
Herod knew where baby Jesus was 🤔?
They know that the Star of Bethlehem was in Taurus the Bull. The Pleiades is in Taurus and was called the Seven Sisters so one of those Stars went Nova and no longer exists. The Star of Bethlehem had to last long enough for the Three Wise Men to see it, pack up their stuff and go to Israel which would have lasted at least a month. What you are talking about would have lasted several hours . You folks have no deductive or analytical ability.

The conjunction was June 17, 2 BC. This guy is a fool to not know the EXACT date. Is this intentionally misleading? He is supposed to be an EXPERT?
Red dragon is one name from some ancient text.
They were astrologers not astronomers.. magi meaning stargazers..
You don't know that for sure...they could be descendents from Daniel.
BTW the label stargazers could apply to both Astronomers or Astrologists
Bible holds up.
What Carl is doing is the same thing Christians have been doing for decades and not coming up with the correct answer. What Rick Larsen did was actually look at the Bible and use real hard evidence in science to prove the actual truth which is, Jesus was conceived September 11th 3 BC. He was born nine months later June 17th 2 BC. And the wise men from the East caught up with Jesus and his family December 25th 1 BC. It is proven by science not questioning and guessing!

Can you imagine 3 guys carrying GOLD, Frankensence & Myrrh 700 miles on Camel Back & not getting Robbed? Me thinks there were more like a small ARMY. Where do they get "3?" What verse? (shuffle of paper)......Oops!
There is no mention of a specific number of Magi in the Nativity narrative. Tradition alludes to three because three gifts were given. It is also not mentioned that they travelled by themselves, so they may well have, and justifiably if they were wise men, travelled with some form of hired protection in case of robbery. Just a thought.
@@GeldardGrey exactly. Amazes me how few christians even know what zoroastrian religion is. Read the story of some astrologers trying to get rid of Abraham just like herod and Christ all because of planetary positions. Christians are generally opposed to astrology and maybe some will say "it was ok before Christ" but that means that according to their own Bible it is useful and meaningful but they're supposed to just ignore its applications or it exists and is valid but is the work of the 😈? Lol ok.
I cannot base a reply on any evidence that any christians do not know what zorastrian astrology is, purely because I have not asked any. Nor Jews, Sikhs, or Muslims etc etc, for that matter.
Do atheists know what it is?
A British non-believing greengrocer may just as well reject astrology as much as an Argentinian faith-following farmer. So that point you're making is pretty flat in your generalization.
As there are approx 5 billion people of some kind of faith around the world, it would be interesting to see the approx numbers of those who believe firmly in astrology as a source for spiritual comfort and guidance.
@@GeldardGrey of course there are many different sects and opinions but on the Wikipedia page about the star if Bethlehem there are many citations showing how the early Roman Catholic church had a problem with astrology and telling people not to use it because it contradicted the entire lore surrounding Christ. It matches what christians I've known say. Certain things were permissible before christ and the new testament. Acknowledging that astrology was used and had meaning but then saying it can't be used is ironic to me

This demonstrates nothing about the validity of scripture. Yeshua (Jesus) was said to have been born around 4-6 BC not 3 BC. Jesus would have already been 1-3 years old, not A new born in A manger. Also, the claims of extra-Biblical texts mentioning something similar to the star also doesen't surprise me since the Bible copied so many extra-Biblical narratives as it is. It would seem to me that the authors of the gospels accounts eiether stole from those extra-Biblical narratives as they did with the doctrine of the trinity. Or the start potentionally is real, and they simply observed this star as many other's did and incorporated it into the story of the birth of Christ.

16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
As an amature backyard astonomer for more than 60 years I personally utilize an rather expensive astromomical software program starting a hundred years prior to the supposed Jesus birth story to a hundred year after. And none of my researched showed any type of possible anomaly that could have been referred to as the Star of Bethlehem.
Though conjuntion of both Saturn and Jupiter as well as Venus and Jupiter happen every so often. Neither of which occourd during the time line I reseached.
In as much as stars seem to rotate around the Earth appoximately 6 degrees different than the night before and planet even farther except during their retro grades. It would be an impossibility for one to have viewed a conjuntion of such even if they occured during the time line for any duration long enough for the supposed kings to have noticed and then followed it to Bethlehem. Though meanings are added to existing words every year, none of them negate any of the previous meanings. Thus using any semantics one wants, The STORY of the Bethlehem star is just a STORY. And if not, than Santa Clause, the Easter Bunnie etc etc etc are all true also.
