Being a 25 years old serious aspirant, having full support of family mentally and financially without any pressure, I gave 5 attempts continuously but didn't even clear prelims once...I lost my mother 7 months earlier. During these 5 years, what I got are: underconfidence, frustration, disappointment in front of family, friends, and relatives, a lot of health and mental issues, and obviously no financial income of my own...constant failures have broken me from core...now after this year pre i have already decided to take break from UPSC and go for other exams..🙂🙂🙂🙂

There is a need to share journeys of those people who quit preparation after some attempts and are doing better in their professions now. Many aspirants don't quit after failing prelims again and again just because they are not able to figure out what else could be tried.

Sir, after clearing govt exams and having a govt job after 2-3 years of preparation, now i am preparing for upsc and I feel very confident during preparation of upsc . Because even if I failed i would not have to worry about my future life and now I can give my 100%.😊
You have already achieved half of the goal, and now you can prepare without worrying things. My case is same, I had fomo at the when I decided to go for the job but now in service I have less time but I utilise it much better than when I had all the time. All the best Buddy.

To all those who are advocating for other exams .. let me tell u.. baki exam me bhi effort hai, different exams have different approach .. aur baki exam me jo bheed hai u guys can’t even imagine… kahi paper leak… kisi saal vacancy aati hai kisi saal nhi aati, even after exam they will take more time to declare result leaving u clueless , technical jobs me vacancy 2 digit me aati hai.. sometimes even less than 10… being BTECH myself i wasted my many years trying different exam as i am low in confidence… but faced many irregularities… upsc is only one who takes exam on time and declare result in timely manner…main thing is consistency.. reading same material again and again … after preparing for upsc at least u have courage to give state pcs…but after preparing for other exam and if u got stuck in failure loop believe me .. koi exam dene layak nhi reh jata insaan… except upsc baki exam manmani tarike se exam and results dete hai… aur low key exam me normalisation hai .. jo ki kb apka favour kre kb na kre u never know….

One more what i felt, even though maximum parents will tell the same no need to worry on finances we will. Manage but the aspirant must know to judge the real financial status of family . In 2023, I completed my graduation and in 2024 i gave my first attempt and scored 92 marks and this exam broken my invincibility and for a while i cried and again i wake up and tried to find out where did i make mistakes and found that i underestimated the power of mock test(I had relied only on pyq) and weak hold on basic and with this realization again I'm trying to give my best. Rightly said one should fix the no of attempts and time they have to give. Otherwise our brain thinks we have whole lifetime to prepare for it. I am giving my third attempt to a prestigious competitive exam along with something else at my hand. Now even if I clear it this time , I won't go for it, will pursue with what I have right now. Because what happens is often in the Era of giving numerous attempts we forget that we have a limited time and can't exceed that , once the time or an opportunity is gone , is gone forever. 😮i cleared state civil service...but i wilp not waste my time in upsc cz i fail three times ...but non the less i studied only 3 hours in the morning 5-8 am then 10 -5 at work and 8- 10 pm ..and saturdays and sunday i go roaming and play sports and meet friends and family..

You have wider perspective, you get to see the things holistically, You get efficient in cutting down the BS, you get effective in solving the problem. MBA's demand for breaking down the things into simpler components, you get this skill here. Time management is also learnt in this journey. Emotional level you get to see things at humanistic perspective. you become jack of all trades and get master of your trade...These things will definitely help you in jumping the corporate ladder or any job.

Listen , exercise daily learn meditation. Sit quite with yourself daily avoid upsc , family every thought and just observe surrounding. Then stick to a single routine for 8+ months .

Sir, A normal commerce student here, from a local college. Just started my Bcom. We've got a few financial problems at home. So i chose not to go to any prestigious universities despite my family telling me that they'd manage. I've chosen not to pursue any professional courses either. Instead, I plan to devote all the time I have in hand outside the college sphere, to upsc preparation. By now, I've been preparing for the last 2-3 months. Doubts are frequent, as you might have analysed that I have only one thing to gain and almost everything to lose in this journey. I'm at a position, where the first attempt isn't a goal but a desperation. But nonetheless, i must assure you sir, I'm yet to come accross another exam like this that is both a tragedy yet the most beautiful exam in this world. Thank you
Sir as we can see the odds are too many, even if someone is doing his best, his chances are bare minimum. What about that?? Even you said as well that you also get wrong about checking the progress of aspirants...Can you address that as well because during the preparation it's hard to not overthink about the issues that one may have.

I gave my attempt in 2020 -Prelims failed Again gave 1 year for preparation - in 2021 I gave my second attempt but as expected failed to qualify for prelims. As pressure inside me was busting - I applied jobs on naukri... As 2 years got wasted ... I got very decent offer in Reputed Mnc (28k per month) (Nov 2021). I was 24 years by then. As time passed skipped the 2022, 2023 UPSC attempt focused on carrier. In 2024 I gave my 3rd attempt by missed marginally in CSAT Now have 3 years of experience in Data analyst (42k per month). Same or close to you completed 26 years in Feb 2024. Don't worry just give 3 months in upscalling You will find a job in IT . I have 3attempt now... No tension of clearing. And I'm sure in any of my 3 attempt I'll work hard and clear. Priority my Job - Plan A Plan B is UPSC 🥹🥹🥹 EVERYONE PLEASE LEAVE THE UPSC JOURNEY GOVERNMENT JUST WANT TO DIVERT PEOPLE MIND 🙏🙏🙏🙏
One doubt here, when you say you got selected twice but didn't get a service, you mean that you got till the interview stage and then didn't get selected, right? The way it was worded made it feel like, you cleared interviews and still did not get a service assigned.

He was selected two times but was not allotted any service due to an issue related to his obc certificate.The matter is sub judice currently. Both the CAT and Delhi HC have passed judgements in his favour confirming his selection . But this was appealed by the govt before SC and it is still pending in the supreme court. If the supreme court reaffirms the HC s decision(which it should in my opinion), then upsc will have to allot a service to him and other candidates who were not allotted service due to the same issue.
I am preparing for upsc I have 3 years to prepare cause I'm doing my BA now but I didn't have enrolled in any batch or test series I've watched lots of videos still not satisfied how to prepare,,,,I don't have any knowledge about UPSC so please can you tell me,,, point wise what to do & what not to do & where to get test series to practice.

Don't go for any other exams...! It will be disastrous decision.
Going for another gov job exam is also difficult. Try PCS that is very much doable for UPSC aspirants rather than RBI Grade B

One doubt here, when you say you got selected twice but didn't get a service, you mean that you got till the interview stage and then didn't get selected, right?
The way it was worded made it feel like, you cleared interviews and still did not get a service assigned.
He got through the interview had his name on the final list but still service was not alloted

He was selected two times but was not allotted any service due to an issue related to his obc certificate.The matter is sub judice currently. Both the CAT and Delhi HC have passed judgements in his favour confirming his selection . But this was appealed by the govt before SC and it is still pending in the supreme court. If the supreme court reaffirms the HC s decision(which it should in my opinion), then upsc will have to allot a service to him and other candidates who were not allotted service due to the same issue.

I am preparing for upsc I have 3 years to prepare cause I'm doing my BA now but I didn't have enrolled in any batch or test series I've watched lots of videos still not satisfied how to prepare,,,,I don't have any knowledge about UPSC so please can you tell me,,, point wise what to do & what not to do & where to get test series to practice.
