The pride I saw on dad's face when the gals were hauling up the prawns and landing the salmon was priceless! Yup, the family cohesion y'all have created has won me over big time---and MATH?? I loathe math but seeing you make it reality with the prawn traps was one of those 'teachable moments' that I cherished as a 37 year elementary teacher. Good on you!
Definitely glad you are not monetized with constant annoying commercials like most channels. That's the only reason I've watched so many of your videos and keep watching them! As well as, the wholesome, good -natured 100% QUALITY MATERIAL, of course! Keep up the great work, all of you and THANK YOU! FOR GIVING THE REST OF US HOPE IN THIS GODLESS COUNTRY OF OURS AND WHAT IT'S DEVOLVED INTO... TRULY POSITIVE AND INSPIRATIONAL, YOU ALL HAVE BEEN TO ME 💪❣️✝️🙏🗡️
We discovered you guys today and have subscribed. We are Aussies and love how your family works together without aggro. As parents you are right to have pride in your daughters and your daughters obviously love and respect you. And respect is earned. Your love for each other is heartening in today's society. Well done and keep it up, we love what you've accomplished and how your teaching your girls how to be self-sufficient in all aspects of life and living. WELL DONE AND CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your videos are great (hint: there is never enough) but ones like this need to be at least one hour long. Can't get enough of you all and Dave. Brings a smile to our faces. Thanks.
Beside shrimp fishing, the background image of the lake and mountain as he was eating the cooked shrimp is just mesmerizing. What a view to behold as you enjoy your food.
Great video on making the Prawn Traps. Your friend needs to get a bigger net for Salmon - You need to get them to fall into the net deep enough that they can't flip out. When they do, turn the net so as to close the bag to make sure they don't jump out. That second Chinook was very close to escaping that shallow net! As for the Prawn Traps, I would hook them up so that when you pull them, the water will flow through them rather than sideways, the way you have them now. It will make them much easier to pull if you don't have the water resisting you. I would also hang the weight on the outside of the trap so you don't crush any Prawns from it bouncing around inside the trap on the way up. I like the trap puller you built - looks great.
U guys are great...my favorite vids. Informative, funny, and kid friendly. Totally loved it when your wife asked if u were going to fire her, then she gave the look. Lol
OH, God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the second person to like your new video, I love the way you live your life and raising your kids, I have watched your every single video and eagerly waits for the new one, Lots of love from INDIA, God bless you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your girls never cease to amaze me, what an incredible job you & Rose have done raising them. I'm heading back to BC soon and I can't wait to get out on those waters, this video made me really excited for it! Sending love from Nova Scotia.
Your videos are my "feel good" videos of the week. I'm on the road all week and I get home, wake up Saturday morning, and there you are. It's like waiting for Saturday morning cartoons when we were kids... wait... wait... wait... then finally, BAM!!! Bugs Bunny and Wile E Coyote. It is EXQUISITE! RAPTUROUS!!! Dare I say, almost DIVINE!!!... Thanks for sharing your fun with us.
math is not hard once you understand your gozintas and eagles. man this takes me back to catching fresh water prawn with a light and a net when i was a kid in southern tex near the gulf. i would bring home some monsters lol 2 of them would fill me up. i used traps like yours to catch bait when i didnt want to hall my cast net around with me. every thing about this vid triggers old memories some how thanks.
That bicycle wheel trap puller was ingenious. Here on the East Coast you are only allowed to salmon fish with fly rods. If you use anything else, expect to spend a day in court. As always, great vid.
Not prawn related but early in the video you can see Rose's wedding ring. I really like it and how it is set so she can wear it while she does things and not knock stones loose in their settings. If you picked it out for her you did a great job.
Sixty-three years old, born and raised in Southern California suburbia... first time I went fishing (age 8), was at a fish farm. No surprise, caught a fish with first cast in 20x20 pond... was exciting for me (didn't know better). Umm... no, didn't need a fishing license. Don't remember eating the fish, but I remember the guy cleaning it. Weird how memories work. Dad did some projects around our little cookie-cutter house-- how I got interested in doing the same. Now I'm a hundred times better than he ever was at that. He liked having projects, but I think I'm more passionate about them than he ever was. Point is: had I been brought up in an environment like in these videos... how much different would my life had been, and now is? I've got more fingers than fishing trips. I can build stuff and I love that, I spent my life in electronics (starting from my time in the US Navy), and I'm proud of that. Just.... something's missing. Oh, yeah, that's it: these videos fill those gaps. I sincerely thank you for these. Bless you.

So I came across the channel accidentally. I actually unsubscribed to “homesteady” a A couple of months ago. At the moment I don’t remember the real reason for Unsubscribing. I was watching some other videos and UA-cam recommended a video by Homesteady in my feed. But the video was titled for family with five kids homesteading with the channel being Homesteady. I thought to myself , Somebody else is also named Homesteady. Long story short I found your channel and I’m glad I did. I like your humor and lifestyle. I got some great ideas for our Homestead set up. Keep up the good work. Keep having fun and enjoying them kids. Thanks for sharing.
If there is a Walmart close or another place that has a bakery you may be able to get buckets for free or a lesser price. 🙂 Great video and commentary!
@@PD-we8vf frosting, whip cream anything edible that has to do with baking or deli. It might have been pertinent to say where to go ask for them or you might end up in the automotive department. Lol
If you want to catch octopus leave your traps out over night. The best bait I used were shrimp pellets and fish guts, any fish guts. Lead line is a wonderful thing! You might want to put some weights between your traps. Like a brick with holes. It will keep your traps closer to the sea floor.
Sitting here on my porch watching all your videos on this wonderfully sunny day in Oregon's out back. Just trying to avoid the virus.hope your all well and doing something ya want.
Awesome video. Such a joy to see the whole family working together (aside from the one nap interlude by the one who shall not be named, jking). Grats on the shrimp. prawns and Chinook. The outtakes with your buddy are very funny, as usual. Thank you all for sharing.
I have never, NEVER SAW YOUNG LADIES so HAPPY an RESPECTABLE. GREAT JOB MOM AN DAD........

Another great video! Thanks for sharing your lives with us!
LOVE your trap puller!! Brilliant idea! 💡
Also, that strange looking little crab you caught is a squat lobster. Pretty tasty as well 🙂
God I love your family videos please keep making them sending love from Australia

Main stream has zero family values. They are more interested in Desmond Napoles' values.
You and Dave are hilarious!
This is absolutely awesome! 🎉

The fact they didn't know Forest Gumb made me feel so old!
Very nice video fun and family oriented God Bless

Ask in the bakery and or the deli department. 🙂👍
R P: Pie filling and pickles come in those buckets also. We used to be able to get 5 gallon empty pickle buckets from our local fast food restaurant.
I could feel the excitement from Arkansas 🙂👍
They are called squat lobster...they taste great but you can only keep 4 as they are considered part of the crab aggregate
Ok I saw the squat
+Joshua Jensen nah, its called Quanacaus Jeffecux
Yes specifically the Munida quadrispina "pinch bugs" 👍
That creature that stabbed the prawn was John Carpenter's "THE THING".
I really enjoy your video
Specially this one becus I like eat shrimp
Love this video, this really make my 6yr old son want to go out fishing with you.
