I think that watching someone play something is a much faster way of learning because it is right there. It's kinda like not seeing the forest for the trees if your kinda stuck with tabs. I don't feel that this person was being rude. Just watch , make mistakes, get it down and you will see how much faster it is than tabs.
Can't agree more! Used to be stuck in tabs, and now I use my ears, my eyes and my skills improve much faster. Best advice you can give is get away from tabs.
Patrice Robitaille This is really the best advice for everybody, just get a looper and loop the section of the song until you hear it right, and over time your hands will guide you to the right spot. Then over time you hear songs on the radio and you can see it clearly ! Great cover !
Remember the first time I heard the album I was playing Dead Island, I thought it was so good and I even remember where I was on the map, the church getting chased by one of the psychos.
As an acustic noob, it blows my mind every time I see the slide and bending part right after e-major. It's so satisfying to see, but at first a nut to crack.^^ Nice video!
Hahaha yeah 3:30 onwards, kinda like "Into the hollow". It's cool how they've taken the ideas from past songs and kind of 'upgraded' them in Clockwork!
Don't use tabs. Its right in front of you. Make mistakes and learn from it. The best thing you can do is get the fuck away from tabs, and eventually you'll be learning from ear. Tabs are kind of blocking you.
I second Connor. Sometimes there are timing errors and wrong notes that are produced by a tab. Just learn by seeing and by hearing. You also can incorporate some of your style to the playing 👍
I love this. Like all your videos it's so well done and helpful! My only critique is that after "are you sure it's really you?' Josh (lead) plays alternating with the rhythm guitar until the bridge. Even without that it's always fun to watch these :D
Lyrics in case anyone also wants to sing along: I sat by the ocean and drank a potion, baby to erase you. Face down in the Boulevard, yet I couldn’t face you. There ain’t no use in crying. It doesn’t change anything, So baby what good does it do? Your friends, they all sympathize. Maybe, I don’t need them too. Imagine I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me and a lie. Silence is closer. We’re passing ships in the night. There’s nowhere to run away. Said, “Boy if you want love, you’ll have to go and find it with someone new.” “Do you know who you really are? Are you sure it’s really you?” Lies are a funny thing. They slip through your fingertips because they never happened to you. Time wounds all the heals as we fade out of view. Imagine I'd be your one and only Instead I'm the lonely one You, me and a lie. Silence is closer. We’re passing ships in the night. You, me and a lie. Silence is closer. We’re passing ships in the night. Into the night, Left with nowhere to hide. Closer and closer. We’re crashing ships in the night
This is just freakin' good. Really appreciate the quality work you do on all your covers. Favorite one of yours is Nenada by The Sessions. Never heard that song before I saw your cover.
i think in the pre-chorus, they only move the E flat to E notes but the rest of the power chord stays on the B and E octive. i may be wrong though, it's just what it looks like live.
Nice cover, with a spot on tone.I like playing stuff with a tone like this.I'm going to get down to a guitar store to try some out, but are there any recommendations you could make?Cheers!
Dude!!!!!!! Killer guitar playing and tone as always!!!! I'm so envious of your talent! Been a drummer for last 30 plus years and now trying to learn the guitar. Thanks so much for your excellent tutorials!!!!!!!!!! I do wonder if you're not one of the queens of the stone age.
What are chords are you picking in the chorus. Don't need tabs but there are so many sanctimonious variations it would help if you just gave us the variation.
I worked out a nice sounding version of the rhythm part for this. But yours is way better - you put in the frills I left out. And thought I was a halfway decent guitarist. Oh, well...back to the drawing board.
Hey you changed pickups. Are they P94s? If so, how are they? Great cover aswell! Best Ive seen. I think josh's guitar doubles up the 1st couple of strokes on each chord of the 2nd half of the 2nd verse.
Great video with 2 guitars. I know you do more complicated stuff but would you consider doing both parts of "who are the mystery girls" by The New York Dolls like this?
Connor Finn Yeah. First time I played it, it was like a very hard song. But after a couple of weeks now, I only need to correct some minor mistakes I make.
Hi make, Do you have this tabbed out somewhere ? Coz I'm a bit confused with the last chords of the chorus ;-) I just want to see it on tab ;-) 10x a lot !
This play-along is the King shit of fuck mountain of play-alongs!

Having functional ears helps too. #tabsarefortards
This makes me appreciate the genius of that album even more!
Best album they have done 👌🏼
Remember the first time I heard the album I was playing Dead Island, I thought it was so good and I even remember where I was on the map, the church getting chased by one of the psychos.
1:34 proof that slackerVK is actually human
This song's really grown on me ^^ wasn't a fan first time I heard, flawless cover too.
Perfect guitar sound for this song!
As an acustic noob, it blows my mind every time I see the slide and bending part right after e-major. It's so satisfying to see, but at first a nut to crack.^^
Nice video!
Man, this doesn't get old.
Buen Cover, chabon .Creo que soy el primero que te felicita en Español/Spanish.
That shit is spot on.
Hey, what program did you use to put the two videos together? thank you!
Hahaha yeah 3:30 onwards, kinda like "Into the hollow". It's cool how they've taken the ideas from past songs and kind of 'upgraded' them in Clockwork!
Yesterday in the band I'm in we started playing this song and your video was great help for the guitarists.
Great playing, superb quality! Congrats!
Excellent work. Do you happen to have the tabs for this?
Don't use tabs. Its right in front of you. Make mistakes and learn from it. The best thing you can do is get the fuck away from tabs, and eventually you'll be learning from ear. Tabs are kind of blocking you.

Sounds exactly like the studio version. 10/10
PLEASE DO A LESSON WITH THE SLIDE PART!
I second that
He just did, it’s on the screen, you can see exactly what he’s playing ?

I learned the entire song just by watching this video. Use your ears and eyes.
I love this. Like all your videos it's so well done and helpful! My only critique is that after "are you sure it's really you?' Josh (lead) plays alternating with the rhythm guitar until the bridge. Even without that it's always fun to watch these :D
Great cover, I love the accents and flourishes that you use on those chords. Also your rhythm guitar tone is fucking great.

amp config and pedals? please!
Using a slide looks so easy when he's the one playing :'-)

One of the most accurate covers ever
Dude what is that bendy thing in the verse? I can't figure it for the life of me
I think he's doing like a double stop bend on both the d and g string. At least that what is sounds like to me.
Allen Camps Right i meant i cant tell where it was
its just C#5 chord on the a and d strings. If you are talking about the part after the Eminor on the rhythm guitar side.
i think in the pre-chorus, they only move the E flat to E notes but the rest of the power chord stays on the B and E octive. i may be wrong though, it's just what it looks like live.
Yes this will work for me to download the "album" version of the song 😉 much appreciated
I sat by the thames river and drank corona to forget about her. its just a torture. We are just not meant to be loved.
Nice cover, with a spot on tone.I like playing stuff with a tone like this.I'm going to get down to a guitar store to try some out, but are there any recommendations you could make?Cheers!
What pedal are you using?
Tell us!! :)
You ROCK!

You sir have found the perfect tone
congratulations.
Congratu-fucking-lations
wow great job. thank you for this.
Your covers... dude, just thank you. i would never have realised all the subtle nuances by ear alone.
Could you send me the tab? I can buy them
Thanks
Can somebody tell me what pedals to use for this song? And also what pedal to use to get that sound on the slide guitar? Thanks
An amp drive. Or any overdrive pedal. Nothing extraterrestrial.
Thats fantastic. Thanks :)
That’s a sick cover, your Jazzmaster are incredible also. Keep up the good shit!
@slackerVK would love to see you do a guitar for Fun Machine by QotSA.
AMAZING .........please ....tab FOR CHORUS AND BRIDGE .....thanks
You make that look effortless..my fingers were tripping over themselves doing this
Loved it!!
Dude!!!!!!! Killer guitar playing and tone as always!!!! I'm so envious of your talent! Been a drummer for last 30 plus years and now trying to learn the guitar. Thanks so much for your excellent tutorials!!!!!!!!!! I do wonder if you're not one of the queens of the stone age.
dude u are the best! watch your other videos as well .. and I'm glad I have enough learning material for upcoming month++ :D (newb here)
What are chords are you picking in the chorus. Don't need tabs but there are so many sanctimonious variations it would help if you just gave us the variation.
Smashed it
I love you and I want to have your babies - gratefully yours, Try Van Rental, Sick Sick Sick x
Fucking Josh Homme is a fucking genius

Top Job thanks for uploading, great work nice tone & slick playing man..
Well fuckin done, love it
Great! Tune standard C?
Anyway I can get the tab ?
Why did you disable ratings? It's not like anyones going to dislike this, your awesome!
Perfect!!
I worked out a nice sounding version of the rhythm part for this. But yours is way better - you put in the frills I left out. And thought I was a halfway decent guitarist. Oh, well...back to the drawing board.
...and now I can play it!
Thanks!
Good job, I like where this album is going. You plan on doing more ?
Nice lookin Guitar! Jazzmaster? Awesome playing too!
Dude, whats is cal. of ur strings?
Hey you changed pickups. Are they P94s? If so, how are they? Great cover aswell! Best Ive seen. I think josh's guitar doubles up the 1st couple of strokes on each chord of the 2nd half of the 2nd verse.
can someone help me out with the chord at the very end of the chorus? i cant quite figure it out
Great video with 2 guitars. I know you do more complicated stuff but would you consider doing both parts of "who are the mystery girls" by The New York Dolls like this?
Does it sound noticeably better with a steel/metalic slide or can I use a glass one
yes please Make Fairweather friends :-)...
Do you know an artist call Shannon Wright ?I f you don't I advise to listen she's a great guitar player.
I’m pretty sure that on barre chords Homme mutes the octave on the D string.
can someone give me the Tabs from the solo at the beginning with the bottle neck pls !
I wish I had your skills
yeah, it's really simple. Once you get the feel of the song, it's so much fun
Connor Finn Yeah. First time I played it, it was like a very hard song. But after a couple of weeks now, I only need to correct some minor mistakes I make.
Awesome cover man, any chance you could tab this. There are a lot of unreliable ones online and can't figure out that bend in the verse
we are crashing ships in the night!!!
I suggest to people who suck like my self to learn the simpler tabs then look at this to learn it properly. Great video man
Awesome cover! Are you using a real amp or amp sim to dial in the tone? Would be curious to know how you achieved the tone. Thanks!
Speakersim
+Jesper Locher thats a jag... Look at the 3 switches on the top, jazz has 1 big fatty switch. YOU come on.
ther is only one switch on this guitar, the two oder thing are some volume knob putted sideway, its a jazzmaster
a jazzmaster has 3 switches on top... go learn something.
Yup, it's a jazzmaster
FecklessCretin It's a Jazzmaster, one switch and two pots for volumen and tone. The Jag has the same top controls but in a metal plate.
Can you gently do Keep Your Eyes Peeled or I Appear Missing? I'd love to see your interpretation of 'em!
Is it just me, or does this track belong on Era Vulgaris?
What amp/pedals are you using? And those p-rails, are you using them in p90, single or humbucker mode?
Dude,is it possible that you know Josh,Troy or maybe Johannes? You play QOTSA stuff really well hahaha
Pure genius josh homme.
Hi make, Do you have this tabbed out somewhere ? Coz I'm a bit confused with the last chords of the chorus ;-) I just want to see it on tab ;-) 10x a lot !
check the tab on Ultimate-Guitar.
10х
That guy's got four arms! No wonder he can master 'ocean
PLEASE do I Appear Missing
is it possible to play without the whatsitcalled on the pinky?
I will record a cover with guitar and singing and I would like to thank you for the free lessons hahaha
No ! it's just perfect;
Thank u for that.
U have some very good ears. i'm jealous guy...
Great vid! To all of you wanting tabs, just watch and practice--over and over and over...
whats with this elitist attitude towards someone just wanting to know how to play it?
i don't see that quickly to check the finger movement. have mercy please, give us the tab!
tkzsfen too much work to do. not for free :/
wow sick slide, congrats dude really awesome cover
Wow, awesome man. I'm currently obsessed with this song and album. Any chance of a tab?
What guitar is that, looks amazing. Presuming its a jaguar? but what model?
Jazzmaster
No, it's not.
AquaTail fender jaguar
Enjoy It, I advise you this last album in film sound and an old one Over the sun...
Badass bro...though I would suggest making the background track a little quieter
I'm always afraid of seeing your videos, because i realize all the mistakes that i have been doing all the time
Very very very awesome cover dude, thank you!
