100%. No contest. Regular John never lets you down! Most bands would spend the rest of their careers trying to live up to it. QOTSA doesn't have that problem 🖤🖤🖤
@@TabethaAurochs when I saw them Dec 8th they opened with Regular John and also played Mexicola which is my favorite song of all time … I can say it literally was the best night of my life. The only band that can come close to being that good of a live show is Thee Oh Sees
Taylor W Nobody's saying Mikey is bad but Nick is part of the legend and he was with Josh since for ever. There can't be that old school QotSA without Nick.
Mickey is a badass in the bass, just listen the Villains album. And i agree, the actual formation is the best with Jon Theodore in the drums (fucking beast)
I love how mean and guttural the instrumental is (especially with Dave on the drums) while Josh's vocals are so soft and smooth. Easily one of their best tracks by far!
They need to do some type of Queensfest and pick songs off of each album and have the guys that played on those albums play those songs. That would be sweet...
Huge QOTSA fan but how the hell did I miss this. I didn’t realize my audible fixation was starving til hearing this. lol. Never have I had a riff grip my soul like this. I felll in love with Josh and Dave all over again. ( and everyone else on that stage that made this old school 50 yr old hippy feel young today.
This is my fav lineup because the sum of all the players seems to be this monstrous beast none of them can seem to tame. Everytime I have seen qotsa, Josh seems to have reigned the beast in to do his bidding. With Grohl on drums and Oliveri on Bass and Troy..its just madness and awesome
@@lockyp204 like nick oliveri said josh has surrounded himself with too many yes men. He needs to make the next album in a very "adverse" environment to say the least. Music is best made when the maker's back is against the wall.
@@speedking7224 I think this every time I listen to one of the recent albums. A guy who’s had too much success and now has too much creative licence with no pushback, with the resultant sub-par results.

I think it was this video, I grew up hearing and seeing the Queens on MTV and VH1, rediscovering them watching this video in college led me to listening to their 1998 debut for the first time, Regular John, Mexicola, and You Would Know blew my mind
@@ivanameruoso You know, I felt that way about that record too, but it has really grown on me. It's not their best, but it is not a bad album, and is better than those of many many other bands.
the moment at 1:46 is indeed special as an amateur musician I can *EASILY* say that there is something about playing live/rehararsing that you just can feel connecting with your bandmates and you just communicate through very subtle mimics, faces, gestures, emphasis on certain notes, HELL even with the notes you play and when you feel like your bandmates just *KNOW* what you are doing and going to do you just become this hive-mind like thingy and work as one and you just cannot even remotely get this feeling if you didn't play with a band irl, hell you can't do this even if you play with a band and you don't like the people you are playing with, I hope everyone playing gutiar can get a taste of this
like look at josh there the way he dances around is like *"keep the riff going man just watch the way I emphasis, here I will play it towards you so you can see what I'm doing"*
You realise dave grohl is just everywhere right? Nirvana, QOTSA, Foo Fighters, Tenacious D, the list goes on, he was once in the top 100 triple J list for the year (australian music poll), and he was in 13 of the top 100 songs.
I remember watching this video in like the mid 2000's before UA-cam existed, I downloaded it off of Napster or limewire back in those days. I wish there was a recording of this entire live show, it was probably incredible.
@@lesbiansaregoodandch How do you define best though? If you mean technically, then you're right he's not technically the best. Does he have legendary power and feel though? Yes.
Imagine the feeling of having that much power at your fingertips. Like literally every note you play makes thousands of people move. So baddass and what a song.
I liked this over two years ago, but like doesnt even come close. The feeling watching this is utterly fucking awesome - This just goes to prove how great music can make you feel great.
This is what rock should be. It was QOTSA and now it will continue with Them Crooked Vultures. It is so awesome that there is still a glimmer of hope in music that actually ROCKS!!!
Honestly the greatest first song on anyone’s debut album ever.

this song fucking rocks dude 1990s QotSA were peak
Someone said QOTSA used a drum machine.......they were right!
*drumming machine
😂😂😂
Dang sure!! Grohl all the way!!
Well they really do now all hail Jon Theodore
This may be the best UA-cam comment I have ever seen. Thank you. Hail yourself and rock the fuck on!
While I like the current Queens lineup, this is by far the best incarnation. Fucking brilliant.
just need to replace Nick with Mikey!

Yeah it sounded sick,sick,sick
Dave always said that the guitarist and drums MUST be in sinc all the time
I love how Dave just turned this into a brand new song, even dirtier than the original. THat's great drumming right there.
Actually he recorded drums for this song I believe.

I really like the hypnotic less-aggressive original version. It's a kyuss riff if you ask me, but damn this version rocks.

Yep it is!
I swear to god I've been coming back to this video for like 12 years in a row. That's how good it is.

Too bad Grohl couldn't have stayed with both QOTSA and Foo Fighters, cause this lineup was on fire!!
I've never liked Dave Grohl when singing, prefer he stayed on drums.
