Hi there, I have a question about Apple Watch. Is there a way to measure rest time while doing intervals on the track with the Apple Watch ultra (using the action button)? I understand that I can set an interval workout with the workout app, but sometimes I just want to freestyle a workout. Right now when I press the lap button within the stopwatch app, it will only show me the total elapsed time. Is there a way to see how much time has passed since I pressed the lap button so I know when to start my next interval?
As someone who owns other watches besides the AWU I can't recommend Nomad's Rugged Band enough. The lugs, the legacy clasp and overall dive watch feel is perfect.
I have tried all the three official Ultra bands and personally, the Alpine Loop is my favorite. It is perfectly weighted and the polyester material feels good on my skin without getting too warm. And the G-Hook design feels very unique and secure. The Trail loop may be the most comfortable, but it gets really warm as it's made of Nylon material and it gets heavy when you're sweating. And it's too plain and simple and feels a bit out of place when paired with the Ultra. The Ocean band has to my least favorite because of how heavy it is. Buy this only if you frequently go into water.
I'm a bit fed up with non Apple bands not clicking in place or having a bit of movement when they do click in place. I feel lucky to have all three genuine Ultra bands.
@@olivierstultiens for comfort…Trail (love that little orange tab). For practicality (swimming)…Ocean band. White looks good in the summer! And for looks, Alpine Loop ..The classic orange!
@@CrueLoafcouldn’t agree more. Just picked up the ultra last weekend and picked the trail loop with it cause its really comfortable. Planning on picking up the green Alpine one soon cause i love the looks & i think it’d be more secure to wear on my motorcycle, i doubt the trail one will fall off but feel the little metal hook on the alpine would be more secure
I agree, returned a Nomad sport band because their was so much movement with the lugs, i did pick up a Bellroy sport band and that’s perfect. I have the Alpine Loop and its amazing but didn’t want to spend £100 on the ocean band, the Bellroy is perfect
i have the green band that you first opened, absolutely rugged and high quality durability just picked up the iPhone 15 Pro Max Natural Titanium now I want to match the phone and the orange button on the Ultra though
@@PatrickRambles i just got a ZAGG Edge Cover + Screen protector in 1 for the Ultra and a Otterbox and Lenses Protector for the 15 Pro Max I can’t seem to find any other color options for the Alpine Titanium G-Lock bands wish they had a silver/grey one with orange accents definitely don’t like 3rd party items at all
I really like the Alpine loop. Yes the fabric bands attract dirt easily. Fortunately they can be washed. I’ll use the 44 mm sport loop when washing the Alpine loop. I don’t like the feel of silicone type and metal straps.
Nice list of bands. I own about 30 bands myself and I have to say the Sandmarc is definitely my favorite overall. It looks really good on the Ultra. Then a couple from Nomad.. the Hybrid leather is nice too, but their Rugged bands look at home with the Ultra
Would you say the Sandmarc Titanium is better than the Nomad Titanium? Looks wise the Sandmarc appeals more to me. However people complained about the lack of scratch resistant coating. Also, based on reviews and hype the Nomad Titanium seems to be the most popular one. What's you're thought on this?
You can actually ask Apple to replace the band. That's what i did. I bought the watch on the alpine loop and went to the store and have them replace with the trail loop.
That is true@@PatrickRambles it sounds like you would recommend the Sandmarc versus the Nomad band? I only ask because I do want a more classy/professional looking band, which I also need durability because I do tend to hit corners...etc.
Thanks @@PatrickRambles just purchased the Sandmarc Titanium Grade 4 Edition - Apple Watch Ultra Band. Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for your help. I also let them know you recommended the band, which I hope helps you with future partnerships/affiliate talks.
Suitisbest bands from Amazon are my preference over the nomad because they're wider they're cheaper which is a bonus but they suit the ultra much better than the nomad rubber
Another banger ;-) Great video man, Had no idea Nomad made rubber bands as well! Been looking at these in preparation for the summer (beach/pool/outdoor stuff).
Fun fact, i found out in the Apple Store last week - ultra bands work on the larger regular Apple Watch. I never knew this! I think my next band purchase will be an Ultra strap for my Series 8
The 9-clamp scratching your ultra can do lots of damage. I’ve read some accounts where the clamp damaged the antenna which are the white lines around the surface of the ultra
I find the fabric bands more comfortable. Haven’t tried tried the trail loop. I have used the sport loop with my Series 5. The trail and sport loops are similar.
Good video. I bought the Harber London strap and was disappointed. Had to return it twice because it would slide right through the grooves for the Ultra. It would never “stick”. I’m holding on to the third pair because I got tired of having to keep mailing them back.
I’ve got to try an old-fashioned buckled watch band for my Series 4. I’ve had the stock band pop off several times already. That stretchy Velcro band you showed looks very promising, too.
I personally like the Apple leather Loop band in the new color umber best for now. I also have it in midnight blue. The leather is nice and comfortable and because it’s magnetic you can always find the best fit for your wrist. You never tried it or you did and you don’t like it? Good for any occasion except swimming. Also easy and quick to put on or off.
@@PatrickRambles I don't have any issues with it coming off too easily. Sometimes it will loosen somewhat but I've never experienced it getting too loose. I just checked the width of the band with the trail loop and it's not slimmer than that. Offcourse it's slimmer than the alpine loop and the ocean band for sure, and most metal bands. It's always personal and I love the slim look especially because I mostly wear the Ultra while working and with casual looks.
I think the braided loop is also a great one. I ONLY use this one, so convenient, and it looks good. I got the new olive green to replace my forest green.
Thanks Patrick. Any Stainless Steel or Titanium watch band that requires you to hump a toolkit to make an adjustment is IMHO, not well thought out or just cheap engineering. Why not include the Apple Stainless Steel Link Bracelet in your review? It’s made by Apple, puts the other in the shade and you don’t need a toolkit to make an adjustment.
The Pitaka band is one of my favorite bands. Has been for a couple different series of Apple Watches. To be honest, I have had great luck with Amazon knockoff bands. They may not be quality where they insert into the watch. But, I am not doing much diving or mountain climbing. I just pretend I do. 😂🤣👍thanks for sharing.
With my first watch I could only buy Apple bands and I spent way more money than I should have. The third party bands today are crazy cheep and I have a ton. I love my series 7. I have extra wide bands I'm wearing now. I'm always setting my phone somewhere and using my watch to find it. The ultra is awesome but I will wait until this fall to upgrade. Thank you for your video ✌🏼️
I use the Ocean Band always. I also have the Trail Loop and the orange Nomad Sport Band but I found it too flimsy and wiggly… not safe to me. The Ocean Band is the best. I’ll most likely buy another Ocean Band soon…
Nice review of watch bands. Bring the watch higher though. You are using it to low on the wrist. Your hand should never touch the buttons even at maximum wrist flex.
Would you give the smaller Size alphine loop away if you have no use for it? I’ll pay for shipping if you would be kind to send it. I appreciate your amazing work on all your videos. You have a gift. I have another account from Google now so I’m watching from the new one.
Ultra is a misleading term for a simple watch that drops heart rate readings on your workout and also misreads heart rate when comparing with a Garmin watch! Why is it so special?
The ultra is not the best sportswatch. It just isnt. But it is much more than just a fitness band or sportswatch, so I think its core audience is people that want some health and fitness functionality but also a high end smart watch. Garmin and the other brands are better at sports but not as feature rich in other areas. And of course there is the seemless integration with all other apple devices.
Not really an expensive watch in my world at any rate, just a comment that for what they are the bands seem expensive these must be knocked out by some vietnamese child for small change not much craftsmanship or skill involved in producing them, I use my ultra for work on site to save spoiling a decent watch.
I’m returning mine as it’s not a watch for Athletic people at all. If you want a proper fitness tracker then you can’t go past Garmin watches. Apple Watches battery life even the ultra 2 is laughable. Is a glitchy all over the place watch that still needs a lot of work. Don’t waste your money unless you like to show off having a smaller iPhone on your wrist because that’s all it is but with a tenth of the battery life. 😂
You didn't check the battery life before you bought it? Also, I'd love to see that iPhone with 20 days of battery life 😁. Joking aside, I do a agree it's nothing like a Garmin and I don't think many serious athletes use an Apple watch for their training. I did a video on that actually.
@@PatrickRambles just a figure of speech with the battery but I’m sure you know what I mean. A watch that’s advertised to go rugged up the mountains surely should have a lot more battery life than what it has. They should include a 20000 power bank in the box I think. 😂
I’ve bought ultra with green alpine, adore this band color + titanium case
I love those nomad sport bands! They sold out of all the yellow bands before I could order one, but I did pick up the electric blue and orange colors.
