Congratulations CW I have the Puma version 16 ". SS and love it. In fact about 5 years ago I started looking for another one to keep him company 😊 Haven't had any luck with that yet
Nice one CW. I was looking at one awhile back at the LGS. I ordered the NOE rail awhile back. Worked great but the rail was thick and raised my red dot sight higher above the barrel than I like. So I put a Marbles bullseye rear and a Williams firesight on the front for the moment. Skinner makes a rail that is much thinner and keeps any sights/dots much lower to the barrel. Prob pick up one of those someday👍🏻
I couldnt of responsibly done this where it not for friends and the trade in! I didnt "want" ta trade but bottom line ONLY reason I nought the 45 Colt was because I couldn't find a 454. So was pretty easy to justify the swap.
Hahaha. Mornin man! Yes sir for quite a while actually!!!! The old "PUMA" was first ones then these R92's. I even discovered a few variant/versions of the current gun too!!
I love it! Congrats, Brother! I love to see you excited about stuff. I understand about the stocks. Glad they’re growing on ya. It’s hard to strip down brand new wood.
Thanks CW that is an awesome find. You sound like me in some situations of gun purchases. If I want something specific I'll search for it until I get it. Or like you seeing it in the shop and the thought comes up, I've been wanting that for a while so you have to get it. I love this gun you got because of the cartridge and being able to shoot the shorter rounds as well as it being stainless. A friend of mine got the 44 mag Rossie 94 not long ago and it has that same red colored stock on it. My R94 357 that I got in 2020 has a more traditional brown color. Also my R94 was about half the cost these things are going for today. Looking forward to the range video with this one. Thanks for sharing.
Congratulations on the new rifle. I bought the same rifle approximately 2 weeks ago also. I love mine, shooting 300 grain Hard Cast bullets. Butt pad does not look the best but sure is needed. Just ordered some Sierra 300 grn semi jacket Flat nose. Those should be great. I call mine Thor, it's a thumper.
Congratulations buddy! I know you're going to enjoy it tremendously. I'm with you on that rear stock. I imagine there's new furniture available if you ever wanted it. I can't wait to see range footage!
Cw what a beautiful rifle. You well deserved of it buddy. RANGER POINT persison got lot of stuff available for them also. 454 hard to beat 💓 good hunting caliber for all game from medium to large.
Now that made it even more interesting! Having the predrilled hole for my visual impairment lights my intrige. To bad I have big payment to finish a layaway of my next tool/toy. Should be receiving it somewhere just after the first of the month. However ever there's two things that may put it back a couple of months. 1. My 45-55 Walker should be coming soon, to bad the cartridge wouldn't work in the 92. And 2. I have a plan now on how to complete my Remington collection. I've been unwilling to get a 1875 in 45 colt, because I don't need another low pressure .45. For the price of a Ruger in the colt I might as well go bigger in a magnum research. But back to the Remington I think going with a cartridge/revolver/rifle combo in a unique direction. Mountain man
@@russhayes4882 this was a grill gun for me for many many years. I looked and looked and looked. I would Stop & Shop anywhere I was in the country. I never did find one. And then GunBroker and these online places happened and I saw a couple of them, but they were overpriced. And then I just walked into a shop and there was two stainless steel ones on the wall. I couldn't get money out fast enough. Yeah I really really like the rifle. I got a couple videos here on it. I bought a couple of cast BULLET MOLDS and we even shot a couple deer with it last year. I really like the rifle lot. 🙏🤘🏼❤️🩹🤘🏼🙏
Super nice rifle! Like the caliber too. Living on the coast has made me more interested in SS versions. The sight that replaces the safety would be the way I would go.
@@cw2a It won't let me post a picture with the scope. But it is a Burris 3-7 Scout scope w/ ~10"-14" of eye relief. The rings are the pain as the scope has to be completely forward of the ejector. 100% 99% of my rifles are bought with hunting in mind. I just ordered a reflex base for a RMR. Im gonna swap a ts25 for a Swamp Fox dot and put it on this.
Hey CW hope all is well with everything you've been going through. Did you buy that 454 from Lester in Waterbury. The reason I ask is there was another one sitting on the rack and right next to it was an older 24-in Rossi with a marbles Tang sight that I was thinking was yours, nice rifle I almost bought it but 800 dollars is a little steep for an old Rossi
Does Boyd's make stocks for the rossi 92? It's a nice looking gun for sure, I have read that the loading gate is a bit small, but again I have never had the privilege of handling one, maybe ranger point precision makes aftermarket parts to slick her up, cool gun for sure!
There's still a few videos here on UA-cam on slicking up the action. Do a search you'll find them. Just takes some time couple of screwdrivers and punches a little bit of patience. I recommend a spring kit at the same time. Some of the springs are pretty heavy. Boyd does make stocks for the Rossi, but I haven't seen them listed on their site. I got mine from Steve's guns down in Texas.
Have one in 357 and never shot it. Just picked up r95 stainless with laminate furniture in 30-30 mounting a 4~12 scope Like you I need larger eyes to see lol. I planto shoot it in a day or so. I think I am going to look in to a red dot for the 357. Don’t 17:34 know if it is tapped. I bought it 20-25 yrs ago
I believe the D&T is a newer thing. But your not outta luck. There are a few makers offering mounts ta fit the dovetail slot. This is what I have on my Browning92 44mag. Its video is here too.
I've seen quite a few of these online and this one has one of the worst woodgrains in the stock. Maybe you should strip the finish off and burn it with a torch and then refinish it
Morning David! I started with .454 same as my 45 Colts. But I found that 452 seems to shoot a little better which kind of surprises me because I've always liked fatter bullets but if you read the specs, the 454 was always tight on tolerances because of its pressures.
Nice looking rifle, I'm considering getting one but I don't want the magazine tube cutout. Do you happen to know how to differentiate model wise? A SKU number of some sort? Thank you
Im not sure I understand what a "tube cutout" is. In 454, I was only aware of one current model. There was changes between this and last model with magazine tube. But they remain threaded into receivers. Just the end caps changed.
There was a time Rossi made these with a magazine tube cutout similar to the Henry. I've found it online in stock but the images show that cut. Hoping it's just an older image @@cw2a
I think I figured it out😂. I copied the numbers from your shipping box and matched them to the website. They're the same so they must've never updated the pictures@@cw2a

That’s a nice .454 I have a older .357 mag with actually nice wood . The .454 is a hammer. I really like those green hollow points.
The 357's are awesome. Love mine too! Liked the 45 Colt I traded. This one is more versatile.
Very cool new toy, im super jelly! To me, there is nothing better than the old lever guns. They are just cool.
