@@PhoenixAndTheRavenplease do share a band that shares the same sound as vpoy and atasf and I would be forever grateful. I've never heard anything match the composition these albums.
Thanks for uploading. I went to my very first punk show in 1995 (Lagwagon & Good Riddance). There was a small local band from the east bay called AFI that opened. They stole the fucking show.
A day before my birthday. My first hardcore punk show. Didn't see AFI again until 2006 due to the 2004 US leg of their tour being cut short. So great to see this.
I did not deserve this, but I got it. Thank you. This made my month. Best video I have watched in years. As a die hard AFI fan with a tattoo of their band name on my arm I'm always looking for old videos like this. So thank you so much
You got a tattoo with their name? Poor you, i hope they are funding all the lasering for everyone who got sucked into their quasi religious stance - you became part of their cult, financing it even. Like all the guru - preachers out there

I FEEL SO LOST me and a few older timers around were disappointed. Davey even shouted us out for our support back in the day at fireside. This is the set list i needed.
I saw them in Memphis tn in 2011 and it was incredible. My homie held all my stuff and I went insane and they played a single second and I fuckin lost it. God I wanna see them again. Always my fav band.

And if you really read the lyrics, they're very esoteric and almost demonic. The dude was channeling some forces for sure. Especially Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow
They lean in to the older material at the start, but I noticed it seems like once the Black Sails songs get going is when the crowd really comes to come to life.
Never liked AFI back then. I dunno why. Couldn't like every hardcore or punk band then. Looking back now at near 40 years old, I appreciate them now. This is fast and tight as fuck.
Sing the sorrow is the most perfect AFI album ever made. Dark and amazing. And this is coming from a hardcore AFI fan with a black sails tattoo covering his whole upper arm lol. STS is and will always be their best album
@crazycarlsadventures5983 lmfao. Um no. Sing the sorrow is the very best AFI record. And I LOVE the punk stuff but STS is the perfect blend of dark Gothic AFI 😍
Bands never know when to stop, not to become an embarrassment - that show would have been a good final show for these religious kids, who have no idea what they are talking about - they are proof for the damage postmodernism has caused the humanity

Best AFI era
No dude. This is cool but such an immature sound. There's a thousand bands that had this sound. The modern AFI is much more sophisticated.

they sound amazing! wish i wasn't only 8 years old during this time period of the band haha

Incredible to see this footage

Damn this is good. Saw them in 01 at my second ever gig, such a good band.
AFI delivered one of the best sets I've ever seen in the summer of '99. Subsequently saw them as they were blowing up, in '04, and it was terrible.
