    Rick, could you do a Quest for the Open video talking more in depth about the work you have done to feel a fade & stop over drawing the ball. Would be really interesting & seems to be working well for you. Thanks.

    Mentioning the lofts and comparing them with the lofts on your current/typical irons is a good feature of any irons review and i appreciated that. Good work, Rick.
    I don't like the slot on the bottom, surely that would get clogged up with debris.

    Rick, I'm a 12 Handicap golfer. I play and still like the R7 Taylor-made irons that I bought some 7-8 years ago. I would love to see a comparison between the R7's and the newer PSI. I hit my current 8 iron 155 yr with a high flight which my PGA Pro says is close the the ideal flight for an 8 iron.
    New v old technology would make for an interesting comparison.

    Rick...this review was incredibly informative. This video helped me make up my mind and go with a set of these iron. Thank you, thank you.

    Thanks for sharing, Rick. These look similar to the AP2. Spec-wise they seem closer to a toned down version of the XR pros. Exactly what I'm looking for... Crazy long distance with a better feel, less offset and tight dispersion.

    Absolutely love your channel. I noticed you are using a lapel mic. See if you can buy a deadcat cover for it. I use them all the time in my video production company, and they dramatically reduce wind noise. They are also incredibly easy to make. In fact, I could probably mail you one if you have a PO Box.

    Didn't know you would see an iron release...I heard about those almost 3 weeks ago, it is TaylorMade, of course it is time for new irons. These do look nice, strange loft combos. Funny part of look to me is it is very similar in style to AP2s

    Hey up Coach, they look nice, the design of the back of these clubs look a LOT like my own Titleist AP2's....which is probably why I like them!? Sort of a modified muscle back, slotted with counter weighting for balance, acoustics and forgiveness etc. interesting how the longer irons aren't forged (maybe?) and strong in lofts, yet the short irons are forged and close to 'standard' lofts. Another cunning stunt from TM. ATB, see you at the Open, Darreyl.

    These irons look great and TM seems to have built on the RSi line but that price point is horrific.

    I still hit the Rocketbladez tour. Couldn't hit the Rsi2 because of the strong lofts but I friggin loved the Rsi TP. Hit them just as far as my bladez and felt so much better..but I couldn't justify the price. Hopefully once these come out the Rsi TPs will be under $900 so I can pick up a set

    Too much with the face slot and speed slot and busy back... Time for a Miura blade review, sImple clean. Just needing a TM break I guess . Can't wait for your next tournament, you'll be great and if you stink up the farm you can blame jet lag!

    I was interested in what people said about manufactures cranking the lofts up on clubs to get bigger distances for higher club numbers. Question is do they do the same for pitching wedges? If they do then another wedge will be required to fill the gap after the pitching wedge. If they don't then do we need a 10 iron?

    i think the problem with TM irons is they look a bit too busy. Looks are pretty much 80% of it when it comes to irons. That being said i thought they did a nicer job with rsi2. still not crazy about the slots

  • @1985bucky
    @1985bucky 9 років тому

    i have the rsi tp and love them - great irons - these look very similar just with slightly cranked lofts - be interesting to compare like for like - shafts and lofts - if sound is only difference then is it worth the extra £££? Also all rsi tp are forged irons, where as PSI are just forged 8-PW (from what i can gather) so TM certainly pulling customers trousers down

    Spin should be 9000 for that Pitching Wedge, since it's effectively a 9-iron.

      +ksinghvirk Damn!! You beat me to it. I was going to say exactly the same thing. RSi 1 and RSi2 £569 and £669 respectively. Success. RSi TP £749 and flop, TM wonder why the TP's were a flop? So what shall we do to replace the RSi TP, tell you what, lets make the next replacement for the TP's even more expensive!! Lol. Yeah, nice one TM. Sorry, but am I missing something here, or is TM completely out of touch with the consumer?

    Ok, so lets looks at this.
    Rick is hitting his PW 145yds carry. This means if he was using this set, he would have 4 clubs in his bag from about 150yds in (PW, AW, SW & LW) + putter
    And from greater then 150yds he would have 9 clubs. (1w, 3w, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9)
    I think the most important clubs are from about 160yds and shorter. I would be wanting more then 4 clubs in my bag to do that.
    As much as they try to sell you length, the game is still and always will be about precision with your short irons, and 4 of them in my bag is nowhere near enough.

  • @LeighBresnahan

    Hi Rick, great review as always. Amazing distance for a P. On the other hand, I always wondered why every time you test irons that might go longer than yours Ben Hogan's, a.k.a "love of your life", you still prefer them for the course. I mean they are extremely beautiful but for the #QuestForTheOpen why not using longer/easier irons?

  • @craigelmendorf5805
    @craigelmendorf5805 9 років тому

    Rick, hope take time to answer because I really respect your opinion. Note: I play the MB's pw-7i, then the slightly more forgiving MC's on up. This set reminds me of my old R11's that I didn't like because lofts too strong and too jumpy/not enough spin.
    Question: do you find them (PSi's) to be similar to those R11's? Or, are they geared for a tourish type player.....thanks mate!

  • @clayfleming6286
    @clayfleming6286 9 років тому

    I love your reviews but I have to disagree on a couple of points. The RSI 1 is not being replaced, that is correct, but the PSI replaces the RSI 2 and the PSI Tour replaced the RSI TP. RSI 2 can no longer be custom ordered from TM.
    The other point is the looks. I think these are hideous, they look like a cheap Dick's house brand to me. The M1 looks great and I will give it a go, but these will not be considered. Looking forward to the new Apex and the Titleist T-MB though.

    TM just keeps cranking them out. Why? Because people buy them! Like the tactic or not, it's hardly worth arguing about it. I just played the first two rounds with a set of Speed blades and they are superb; seriously improved my game at 11 hcp. $350 new off Ebay. It is mere folly to beat up the TM marketing model, just let it work FOR you, let time prove each model and jump on board once a set has been proven for a year or so and TM's marketing model body slams the price for you.

    I'm a big taylormade fanboy, I'll admit that. I play all tm clubs, accessories, equipment. The lot. But I really don't like the looks of the new range of clubs. I didn't like the rsi, didn't like the sldr, and really don't like these either.
    I wish taylormade would just tone down the visible tech a bit. Let the equipment do the talking. Maybe even take a leaf from mizunos book as the new mp-5 irons are probably the most beautiful piece of equipment in golf today, and they'll sell just as well, if not better than these.

  • @Rich206L

    Rick, I watched all of your reviews and they are "smashing" (pun intended). Question, why do you and other pros the same club so much further? I watched your vids of your "mid handicap" friend hit the same club, yet be 30-40 yards shorter? I realize you are trapped for time, but I think this could be fodder for a future video. What do you think?Enjoy New York, it's a great place and home to some of the greatest golf courses in the world!Cheers,RichNY

      +Erik Biles not at all.... PGA Tour average (June 2014 - Trackman website) ball speed with a 4iron was 137mph (chs 96mph).. Rick's clubhead speed numbers are consistently higher than PGA Tour averages so 141mph is bang on

    Rick u are a great youtube pro, but u have to get over your love for fake carbon.
    If u add tech to a golf club, that has no effect except the looks of it, u should remove it right away.
    And a carbon badge on the back is just that. If u keep promoting it, TM will think we all want good looking useless clubs.

    • @Cornwall1888
      @Cornwall1888 9 років тому +1

      But people do like things that look good but don't actually do anything. As long as it's not doing any harm I don't see a problem.

    • @JAG1651
      @JAG1651 9 років тому

      +petembb The best way to express that we don't want 'useless' clubs' is to simply not buy them. Personally I'm more interested in the upward pricing trends this year, of all major OEM's, than the subjective issue of appearances.

    • @Cornwall1888
      @Cornwall1888 9 років тому

      JAG sixtyfive yeah all the new drivers are suddenly £400+. Only to be £120 a year later second hand when the shiny new one comes out.

    • @JAG1651
      @JAG1651 9 років тому

      +Cornwall1888 Maybe 2nd hand price, yes. But by that time, the money is, by definition, already in the hands of TM. The problem is that TM are very cute, the 1 year product cycle means that the retailer doesn't get the opportunity to discount hardly anything, before the next version arrives. Which means that the consumer doesn't get the good deal he often perceives he does. Take a look at the TM R15 prices online for example, they're still as high as ever. Another example is the RSi2 irons, which these replace, and before anyone argues, the PSi irons are released to replace the RSi 2 irons not the RSi TP which is inferred in this vid. The replacement for the RSi TP will actually be the PSi Forged, not these. And in addition to that, they've raised the rrp by £70 by each corresponding PSi model, nice move.

    • @petembb
      @petembb 9 років тому

      +JAG sixtyfive Propper engineering is when u make something functional look good. Its not the other way around. Adding materials like carbon with no effect other then looks (it might aswell be a sticker here couse it does nothing) is something marketing guys do.
      Problem is alot of weekend golfers buy into that BS, and its not helping that Rick (who i really like watching) promotes TM into making addons that only boost TM's profit, not our golfing.
