Interesting result. Having been an aircraft dealer I tested MMO on several high-time air-cooled aircraft engines and a couple of 470 Cu-in Aircraft engines on twin engine Beechcraft B55 Baron that had been run at low-power cruise for several hundred hours and had developed excessive ring leakage and all 6 cylinders were essentially un-airworthy aat below 50psi on an 80 psi leak test at TDC. As a test on one engine I added about 10% MMO to the engine oil and 10% Rislone to the other engine and in about 3 hours of normal operation, cly leakages on the MMO engine came up to 55 to 60PSI over 80, and on the Rislone engine, all leak pressure were up to between 60 to 70 psi. after 8 hours the MMO engine pressures were in the high 60 to mid 70's, and the Rislone engine, all cylinders were in the high 70's. Cutting the oil filters on both engines showed a large amount of fine carbon in the MMO engine and a concerning amount off larger chunks of carbon in the Rislone, some of which were semi-circular. I went on to run both engines with the MMO and Rislone for about 25 hours and The Rislone engine developed pretty excessive oil leaks on the crankcase mounting surfaces. On tear down for Overhaul the Rislone engine was noticeably cleaner than the MMO engine, espicially around the piston skirts and piston rings. The MMO engine piston rings still had a lot of carbon build-up.
In retrospect, Risone was much more effective but I think too aggressive for aircraft use. Neither Rislone or MMO are approved for use in Aircraft engine oil.

I add a quart of MMO to every tank of fuel in my powerstroke ford diesel, the truck has 299,000 miles on it, still has OEM injectors and runs like new. I have used marvel mystery oil for the past 40+ years and I think it is the best thing since sliced bread.

Really good video but can't believe all the negative comments! MMO is also great in the crankcase for cleaning up sludge build up on the valve train components for OHC engines. Takes around 6K miles and perhaps a lot of low mileage oil filter as well as oil changes (oil gets dark pretty quick).

agree ,as any oil will make a film between the rings & the cylinder walls & add compression .. i have a very worn out briggs 5 hp in a splitter of mine , so i add the stuff directly into the fuel .. it does seem to help the compression issue a bit (more power) but as soon as I stop adding oil to the gas ..it obviously looses the added benefit as the piston 7 rings are still simply worn out & not sealing too well .

MMO is simply magic. I use it in all my engines and have found that for top end maintenance once a year. I do a "cylinder enema", I bring the cylinder to TDC, then using an adapter for the spark plug which has a clear line and valve, I overfill the cylinder (excess goes into the clear line) so as to flood the cylinder and valve faces. I slowly rock the crank a few degrees and let it sit overnight. I then drain and install a clean plug and repeat for each cylinder. From sticky valves to stuck rings it works great a cleaning out the sludge.

Any oil will improve compression on a test if the rings are leaky. The real 'Marvel' would be if it holds the compression after running substantially to burn that oil off. Would have been nice to see a final compression test after running.

MegaCountach I should’ve mentioned we did a third compression test after a few heats cycles and it was 200-205 psi. Also the second compression test was after running one heat cycle. No guessing here...compression doesn’t get better running in 20-30 minutes if it was a bad ring, piston, or cylinder. The customer has 750 miles on it now (been crazy cold and snowing still in Iowa). Cheers, Shane 😊

The cylinders are candid you have to set the bike up so the cylinders are straight up and down for all the oil to sit on all the Rings and it loosen them when you put oil in a cylinder it brings a compression up right off the bat that tells you you have bad rings so run by for a while and compression will probably drop back down maybe unless you loosen the Rings

As dont want fail plugs, did that before putting whole bottle into tank lol, lazy, 4oz works well in tank.
My zx9r it worked wonders on poring into carb suction hose, then iridium new plugs, bike wasnt running on all cylinders then was and was brilliant

No, not if you have a wet clutch, engine and transmission share the same oil.

  • @ampedupelectronics

A modern "euro car" motor oil may be better way to improve engine performance as they are rated to higher temperature specs for turbo high heat conditions with detergents added and also back when MMO was developed motor oils are not the same as they are today. I tried MMO in an engine that is burning oil and it burned MMO in half the time as a "euro car" 0W-20 oil. Where the Castrol Edge was burning 1 quart per 1000km, I burned a quart of MMO in less than 500km. There is something to be said about modern oil specifications, esp. long life types that have had years of real engineering and tests done vs an old product which sells itself based on old wives tales and heresay. It may have been great back in the old days when motor oil was not very well designed. If you look at some of the videos where people tried cleaning spark plugs MMO vs other types did not do so well. I feel Gumout Tuneup is a much better oil additive and a proven injector cleaner as a gas additive. That also increases compression so go figure.

If the compression is higher on a few cylinders then stock,,, and lower on compression on a few others,,,. It's a carbon issue,,,. Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel,,, then some ,,. soak on the tops of the Pistons,,,. Then use a Windex bottle with water in it,,. Spray it in your carburetors,,,. Or let it be drawn in through a vacuum line,,, Water your Pistons,,,

It is a problematic fluid, It is mostly used to improve engine’s performance before selling the bike in order to avoid the price loss.
You should upload another video that will help detecting the use of this product before buying a new motorcycle.

    • @ricksimpson2167

גיא לכיש no it works he just uploaded another video 800 miles away compression still good,,,, sometimes it's just the ring stuck in carbon Murphy's Miracle Oil will loosen them up and restore compression you can also use Liquid wrench or you can use automatic transmission fluid in a little bit of diesel,,, if the cylinder walls are worn out and the Rings are worn out this won't help

You want to put Marvel oil in your engine oil fine, but never, and I mean never put it in the tank of your car or truck. It is one sure way of fouling your oxygen sensors and your catalytic converter early. This kind of thing worked on old cars without all the modern pollution control nonsense. And for those who don't know the cost of these components can be very expensive.

    • @davidweum9334
      @davidweum9334 4 роки тому

Jeez. I put 941 mls in my full tank every fall. I thought it was good for it. I developed a bad oxygen sensor near catalitic converter (engine light on). No fuel injection problems on my 03 Saturn. I also plan to flush engine in spring before I change my oil with 5/30 penzoil platinum oil change.
