11:38 very slight correction but two weeks trial is enough to see their attributes. Another tip not mentioned: Stick the trialists into the u19/u23's squad so it doesn't tank your training
1 Week is actually enough to see all attributes, at least it is for me, 2 weeks gives you the role and duty they can play in. 3-4 gives the pros and cons and player traits.
Just give them a 1 week trial. 99% of them get shipped right out the door anyway after a day of two. The few who are noteworthy just get another 3 week trial on the back of their first week running out.
great vid, can you do a Pt2 where your up to the championship & do a limited budget scouting strategy & High budget? what things do you change from the non-league and then what you change between a spendy or skint club. cheers again
@@matthewmason8982 In pre-season. Play against higher reputable clubs. That's the trade-off. You get a better rep and can sign better players. Rather than playing against similar reputable clubs to make money.
1 week trial will reveal all the attributes, 2 weeks is more or less a complete scouting report including wage demands. I haven't found having players on trial longer than 2 weeks gives me any more valuable information. It's important because trial spots are limited to around 30 at any one time, although you can technically circumvent that by sending trialists to one of the youth teams thus freeing up the trial spots in the main team.
9:05 here’s a small thing that came up with for scouts that I think is really useful. Set their nickname as their name with JPA & JPP. So Lo Llujo JPA10 JPP12. That way when you’re selecting a scout for a mission, you can see their level immediately without having to go into their profile.
Love it Kev thanks so much! Apologies if you did cover it, I will admit I got a little distracted by my son Under staff responsibilities you can select who if offering the reports (the star ratings we all love!) I always make sure this is an applicable staff member with the best judging player ability and potential. Often it is set to the AM, however I pretty much always change it If this is something you didn't cover I genuinely think it'll suit your style of play. And is a great extra tip for people watching. I personally like to play as you do and it makes sense to me to use staff correctly to assist me in picking the best team and tactic Love your work Kev!
Just one wish Kev! I wish you used a cursor with something like a ring around it or anything that makes it easier to follow your cursor on screen after all I am 58 years old :)
Kev, I first discovered your videos 4 seasons ago when I was searching ‘how to play footy manager’. I didn’t grow up watching or playing football so there is a massive knowledge gap at the basic level for me, especially things like positions and tactics. Initially watching your content convinced me I didn’t know enough to actually play, so I spent a number of seasons watching loads of your content. I loved Bourne in the USA by the way and NLTL 2 seasons ago. In the back of my mind I always wanted to have a crack myself though. I don’t have a computer though so never pulled the pin. Then I saw your video on the new FM Mobile release this year and (as I already have Netflix) I decided to buy it and have a crack. Fired by my beloved Villa in my first season but now I’m managing Eastleigh, so let’s see how we go. I’m loving it though and videos like this are immensely helpful. I would ask for more FM Mobile specific content but I know we are a tiny segment so I won’t hold my breath lol.
I wait till my scouts, which i add on "hire staff", and the amount of scouts, and scout them continuously. Not standard or short. But some good tips, always welcome. And see how many stars they have, but after a good statistics check. By 2 stars, transfer list him.
Great video as always, I used that strategy last year on fm after your video on it last year and the 4 click down on contracts is brilliant. Play on console so it's a bit different but generally it works if you know what screens you're looking for 👍
The point about £10k in the Transfer budget being worth less than £200 in the wage budget was really good. Been playing FM for years but never really realised how little cash that actually is. No wonder the other other non-league teams aren't buying my £5k deadwood
@joefawcett2191 if that's true, that's boring!! I want it to be a challenge. Spending a year or two in a season to improve your team and move up. Not going up constantly year on year relying on loans
@Michael-ff4pq he said you can it's not necessarily easy though mate I've done three seasons of unemployed to top leagues and ive not bought any players and struggled massively with promotion. My brother who's new to fm has found it easy but has been given jobs at better teams. It's kind of luck and experience too
You actually can highlight and trial multiple at the same time. You click the greyed put tick next to the players name and then drag down to highlight a list. Then if you right click on anyone’s name while they’re all highlighted and offer a trial from there. it will trial the whole highlighted list.
Curious, whilst managing non league, do you change your squad each year as everyone is on 1 Yr contracts. So moving from vanarama north to national, would you keep the same squad or make wholesale changes? Great content
I actually learned a lot ! I’m not an English speaker and sometimes is quite difficult for me to understand British English. But I learned a lot from this vid thx!
Hi Kev. This is a great video even for more experienced players. Although I have been playing for a few years I never really got what white stars mean on the ability of players. Can you enlighten me?
Great vid as usual! - Kevin, tips on non league defending? Im outscoring teams in the league for the last two seasons but concede so many goals! I am managing on a lower league level 11 database! Help!
I also sign lots of transfer listed players for 0 fee. Gets lots of players from the league above who's pissed off about playing time or just aren't good enough for the league they're in.
when i try to scout a player as in 13:36, it says player is outside the permitted scouting range and extra $300 will be deducted. how come your doesn't and mine does and what is recommendation in this instance?
Hey Kevin! Can you make a video where you explain and help to understand staff recruitment to actually know what to bring and whats is helpful and good?
Great video Kev! Honestly I learnt a lot of good tips there… I’ll put them to good use. I’m following along your NLTL with my own Alfreton Town save. First time managing a non-prem team so lots of actual learning now. Cheers, keep up the awesome work! 🫡
On making promises during signings: I find the better players want to come in as important/star - even if I don't intend them to be... My question is: should I not sign him at all, or should I just tell him what he wants to hear?
That goalkeeper wasn't Leading League 2 current ability. He was Leading Vanarama South current ability and Leading league 2 potential ability (arrow is potential and star is current). Enjoyed the vid though
1st time playing FM, need help to get my head round things... I'm playing the console version on PS5, but finding many of the initial set-up options that are mentioned in this vid aren't available to me. Staff responsibilities, for example - can only choose manager or backroom staff, can't delegate which member of backroom staff... no squad planner... etc... Am I being thick?
I only recruit staff if a veteran player or manager is available on one of my older FM Saves i had a backroom staff of Lionel Messi. Ronaldo ,wayne rooney ,buffon ,casillas and jordi alaba. They where overpowered when I was Lincoln red imps
If you removed all add-ons, increased his wage by 1 click and removed the sign on fees you would get him on a monthly wage of 475 or max 500. I never accept add-ons in none league nor sign on fees. Try that next time when you negotiate. And if he refuses, demand 475 two times, then increase to 500 two times, if he still not accepted your terms he will either decline your terms or accept 525 or 550. But normally you get them in this case, to accept 475 (one click up) or 500 (two click up) with no add-on or sign-on fees. Good luck.
As 1st team analyst at st albans. love the vid
11:38 very slight correction but two weeks trial is enough to see their attributes. Another tip not mentioned: Stick the trialists into the u19/u23's squad so it doesn't tank your training
Yes I also give them 2 weeks trial
How would they tank your training in the first team?
@@JuveVinny Because your 1/2 coaches end up with having to train about 40 players instead of just the first team

God yeah. I’ve just hit the championship with a tiny budget and bad reputation - losing out on signing people to League One clubs 🙈
It's essentially the same. Free transfers and loans. You don't really need to buy anyone unt il you get to the prem or a big championship club

Funnily enough, that’s exactly what I do. Beat them mostly, too.
Can you show how you set up your scouts?

Yes one week usually reveals full attributes, was going to say the same
Id like to know please, which leagues you load in NLTL, If you set any leagues to View Only and so on. And database settings in general
I love the fact you did this with St Albans, that's the start to NLTL for me. Georgiou ended up getting 19 Goal Contributions in 32 for me hahaha

When you get trailists in do you do friendlies to see what each of the players are like, or do you let your AM handle these?
