I just got a 97 dr350se with 7600 as my first motorcycle. Fixing it up a bit and planning to do some camping trips with it and came across your channel. Appreciate all the inspiration and cool content!
It's such a fun bike, the perfect middleman for highways and dirt trails imo. Throw on some rackless saddlebags and a dry bag and you'll be set for some camping adventures
Thanks to you my US twin. It's so good after a long off road day on my beloved 1990 DR350s to continue the trip with you before dreaming with this unique motor music. Long life to you(and the DR)
I love my DR350 but I do wish it had a 6 speed gearbox. I have owned my DR350 for 23 years now I got it when I was a kid in high school. I have many bikes and many more over the years but the DR has never left my ownership or let me down. If they ever make a 400 or 450 EFI with a 6 speed I may just have to hand the 350 down to a nephew but until than its my go to off-road adventurer bike.
That's interesting cause my DR350 does have a 6 speed and all others that I'm aware of too. Unless either earlier models didn't have it or a previous owner swapped out the transmission with something else
Yes you are right 1 down 5 up I should have been more clear my bad. I wish there was 6 up do to when I ride 65+mph for long hauls feels like I am gutting the bike.
@@mdingess ya stock gearing was a little too short for highway for me too so I swapped out the rear sprocket for a 39 tooth instead of the 44. Made a really big difference and can cruise 65mph pretty comfortably now. 1st gear is a little tall now for tight trails but it's still manageable
Congrats on the new bike! I'm sure you'll start finding trails sooner or late, there's a whole network of single track trails in my area that are completely unmarked that I'm still discovering years later
Funny you should find yourself stuck. I'm finishing up my designs and prototype for an ultralight motorcycle recovery kit that would've turned that into a 5 minute minor inconvenience. Looks like you swapped your bags out to the tusk version.
Would be interested in seeing your design once you finish it up. I had some issues with nelson rigg stuff so decided to try out the tusk stuff, so far so good but the saddle bags are a little smaller than the Riggs, though still fine for day trips
My 92 had 13F-41R 3.07 ratio..and it would hit 70mph at 6k RPM...but it didn't have the torque to use all of 6th.. I went to 15F-49R. 3.27 ratio. Did better but I had to remove the case saver to fit the 15 front and still wanted more torque to haul gear. SO Im at 14F-49R NOW 3.50 ratio and can hit 75-80 mph at 8k rpm...cruises at 70mph at around 7k rpm...ENGINE sounds smooth to me. Red line isn't till 9k.. also the size and weight of your rear tire will change things...FYI
Mine has a 15/39 sprocket setup, really geared more towards pavement/gravel but it still does pretty decent on trails. I can cruise 65mph pretty comfortably, but most tight single track I'm in 1st gear and slipping the clutch. Unfortunately the previous owner removed the stock tachometer so idk what RPM's I'm ever doing. I think the earlier DR350's had a taller gear ratio for the clutch basket, then they made the gearing shorter later on. Sounds like your 92 had the taller ratio. I've seen guys who do 16/39 and then install the tall clutch basket to turn the DR350 into a pavement tourer.
Just got myself a 95 DR350se last month and I’m loving it! I will be doing a lot of backroad riding to trails, and I need a bit more out of my 5/6th gear, I was curious what sprockets you have set up for front and rear?
I have a 15/39 combo and it's pretty ideal imo for on and offroad riding. Before I had a 44T on the rear and I felt like I was wringing out the engine at highway speeds but the 39T has made cruising at 65mph much more comfortable. 1st gear is a little tall for tight technical trails so you have to slip the clutch more but for just regular trails it works just fine
Bro, you don't carry a small winch on you . Especially more so you travel alone most of the time . Those mountains ⛰️ ain't no joke . Be safe , safety 1st .
Buy a winch Sir if your gonna ride solo . Be safe and think harder . I don't mean any disrespect towards you . But a little more speed to gyro you over a small log .
I've been riding with a small group lately which had been helping me a lot to push myself more. I'm pretty new to off road riding so I have a lot to learn

@@mtnmotoadv I'm based out of Alabama/Georgia if you're ever in the south and wanna ride!
Would love to ride through the south!
Amazing scenery! Good video. My type of riding. Thanx for sharing brother!
Thanks! I'm fortunate to live here, tons of good riding all over the place
Waoo. Very différent from usual videos with bikes. Tanks.
Thanks for watching!

Just got me a 94 350 I love it its alot of fun unfortunately I'm not as close to cool trails like you I'm exploring but no luck so far 🙃

Im looking forward to doing more riding on my (new to me) dr350. Downgraded from a 650 and honestly I think it is for the better.
I wouldn't want a bike any bigger if you were planning on doing any kind of trails, it's a perfect balance for highways and trails imo

Why didn't you just put your bike in reverse and back out? ;-)

This thought went through my head several times during the whole ordeal lol would've made things a bit easier
