Fun thing to try: 8oz of warm water, 1 TBSP of Honey, 1 Tsp of Cinnamon. Whenever I get a sore throat after late night karaoke, I make this little drink and its gone within 20 minutes. Just a fun thing to use.
I've been having these symptoms for about a year now. but I'm just now realizing what's going on. my voice is my life. I'm very scared. life isn't worth living without my voice. I'm definitely going to look into getting help. Thank you so much.
Thank you I've been going through this for a month I went to a ENT about a month ago and he told me to be on voice rest for a month I feel like it has helped a lot but there are still some parts of my sing that's still airy I'm trying to still not sing even though in done with my vocal rest and sometimes it hurts when I talk or try to sing and sometime I worry because I don't want to lose something I love plus I've never had vocal training before so thank you for this video
you are the reason i have gotten my voice back!!!!! I have applied all of your techniques to my singing. I lost my voice really bad due to bad technique and i listened to all of your videos, and i now am regaining my voice. What does it mean if you go to hit a note that you used to be able to hit, and your voice just goes to air(no voice or high pitch)? is there a way to regain that range?
Step One was literally the most important thing I've ever heard. I've suspected for a long time that I have nodes or polyps and your video just helped me come to terms with it and realize that it isn't the end of the world. You've given me hope, and I genuinely appreciate that, Eric. If I ever get the money I'm coming straight to you for lessons, and I really don't care how far I have to go.
My voice was damaged about 4 years ago, and I came across your videos. I then watched you saying this in one of your videos, and followed your advice, so I started listening to my body and warnings, and even withouh any instructor my voice has improved so much!, of course I also used your exercices :) Thankyou very much! One day I'm gonna take lessons with you!

Hi I love to sing but I really want a voice coach! I know u have a website but have you ever find any one on one sessions? Only if u don't mind me asking.
My voice has been hurting for months!!! I had to speak for my job all day long, then I'd come home and sing as a stress reliever because I just love it so much. I wouldn't warm up even though I knew I needed to. Anyway, I thought because my voice has been hurting so bad that I'd need surgery. And I can't go to the doctor because I don't have health insurance so I got scared that I damaged my voice permanently or I'd need surgery and something would go wrong and if the surgeon slipped up my mouth would get paralyzed. Anyway, you saying that recovery rarely involves surgery makes me super happy!!!! Thank you so much you saved me alot of worrying :D
me too! I'll find out after my whole health thing is all figured out, I'll be going in right away when that happens. I really appreciate you caring about a complete stranger :)
literally crying. I feel like i wot make recovery.. i hope this will work. if i don't sing i don't have anything. its been since like april and its about to be august.
"I'm 75 years old" lol! I am a former recording artist, performer and singer and I am also a vocal coach, I just found your videos and I love your way of teaching and humor!
This is the first time that I've actually taken my voice seriously in my life to the point of looking for expert advice. When I first watched your video heard you advice, I now view my vocal chords as the most important instrument on earth not made by man. I watched exercise lesson #1 and what a difference. I will continue to follow you and would like to meet you one day. I'm only hours from D.C.
I’ve damaged my voice. It’s been a year since I could sing properly. Right in the middle of recording an album too. Going on an official no singing diet as of a month ago. Taking speech therapy now. It’s a long road to recovery. Hang in there anyone who’s going through vocal damage. It’s the worst!
Mr. Arceneaux is the best, hands down. In just about two months, I followed his instructions, to the T, from his Phase 1 and now Phase 2 programs, and I've freed up my voice more than it's ever been in my life, and I'm 32. In short, be smart and learn from the best. Just do the work every single day. If you're serious, you'll do it.
I never cease to be impressed by Eric's knowledge and passion for good vocal, talks so much sense. I've never assumed that I'm god's gift as a singer, I'm not responsible for having a good sounding instrument but I've had to re adjust my ideas approach over the years. I'm getting on a bit now but can honestly say I'm singing better these days than ever before but going back over Eric's basics is never a chore. Due to lack of funds I seldom see my own teacher but it doesn't prevent me from working and touching base with these videos too. I have a huge respect for this young man and am always happy to recommend his videos to people without a regular teacher but wish to improve. Many Thanks Eric.
Hey Eric, thanks for your tips! I'm not a singer (although it would be really interesting to try it out) Im a dancer and your tips are really helpful cause they range out in so many directions. I watch your videos cause I enjoy them hahaha, but when you mentioned that singing, dancing in my case, is all about conditioning your body everyday and sometimes you really do need to become a beginner again. Thats the best advice I've seen in a long while because it teaches humility. Thanks so much for your time and videos!
I lost my talking/singing voice while pregnant 11 years ago. 😩 went from suprano to bass! Raspy, crackled, laryngitis very easy.. i wanted to professionally sing. I was once called the mini whitney. 🤔😊.. i ran across your videos 2 years ago after having gone to 2 ENT doctors who found nothing but a little reflux??? I will say your techniques have helped me but man I feel like the walking dead! Im tenacious so i will keep on pressing. 😊 thank you 👍🏽💯
I sing in a choir. I love singing for the Lord and last Sunday while singing my voice just went to a whisper while trying to sing an octave higher than my normal range. I get hoarse from time to time and occasionally have to whisper while talking. I am now humbling myself by doing follow up with my ENT Dr. and the speech therapist he referred me to. Thanks for your advice. No more ignoring warning signs👍💗☺
I used to have trouble w/ cord closure intermittently. Your advice was golden, and my voice is better than ever. I've spent about 10 years learning how to sing bass and started having a lot of trouble w/ head voice. Your advice about allowing the cords to thin out was just what I needed, and my head voice is coming back. I'll be 62 next month and I wasn't sure this was even possible.
I wish you could help Jessie j because her vocals are amazing but lately I feel her voice has detiorated slightly because her chest belt limit has gone from a Bb5 to a G#5, her former complex runs have become simpler and her voice is starting to sound raspy. I still feel she has the best live voice in the industry but I feel its declining 😔
I've been watching your videos for several months. I practice everyday. I don't have much money or opportunity to take lessons. Your videos have helped me tremendously. You're an excellent teacher. And I really appreciate it.
Hey Eric can you make a daily singing workout routine video ? And i don't know what to really do to improve specifically. Ive watched all your videos but i find myself spending 4 hours a day just doing everything and I'm only getting busy-er in my daily life, much love and respect, Thanks!
Gabriel Rivera For a solid daily warmup on the go, I recommend our AApproach Vocal Warmup MP3 download. It's perfect for doing it in your car or as you get ready to go to the studio, a gig, school, work, etc. And it won't take you 4 hours! lol (it's about 20mins). Here's the link ericarceneaux.selz.com/item/53cd700cb798720ca4481b19
Eric, I have so big problem with voice, I'm teaching in kindergarten, singing there a lot.... I feel so blessed hearing your encouragements. I bought your course and now feel so much better. Thank you so much!!!!
I ruined my voice. My day job was in a call centre. In the evenings and the weekend it was voice acting and singing. I ended up with my voice squeaking into nothing. Hard nodules on the vocal flaps due to overuse. I was devastated, and couldn't sing for a long time. In the UK they don't like to refer you to surgery for vocal nodules, just to speech therapy, and I couldn't find an vocal coach that could help me recover my singing voice (I felt their instruction was exacerbating the problem). Now I have good voice days and bad voice days. I wish I could have found a coach like you. I gave up on using my voice professionally and ended up grieving the loss of my voice and spent years depressed. I've been building in your exercises to get through my bad voice days, and it's working to an extent. Dysphonia is always close by. I wonder if you have any courses specifically for voice recovery? I don't really hold out any hope of getting my full singing voice back without issue, but I'd like to be able to get back to performing without fear of my voice giving out.
When i sing i don't feel any pain, i feel completely at ease, i can sing notes loud and i can sing them song, i can start loud and make note soft and then go back. I also don't feel any discomfort whatsoever when i sing, but i still lose my voice every 3-4 days of singing, i don't understand what is going on.
+zura iashvili If you truly feel no discomfort whatsoever, then you either have an unusually high tolerance for pain or you may have a condition like acid reflux (it doesn't always cause physical sensations of burning). I recommend seeing an ENT and getting a clear look at your vocal folds.
+EricArceneaux I actually watched the video hoping you might talk about acid reflux. I have this and was hoping you might have some advice, other than just to see an ENT.
Yes, watching this in 2021 - my very very experienced music teacher/mentor always says, you can never stop learning when it comes to music. Eric, you know what you talking about. Thank you for the tips
Thank you so much! I'm really afraid I can never sing again. Its my second greatest fear. First only is to die alone. I got sick and still sang hard like a fool. Now I am whispy and crackling like a teenage boy. Singing is my greatest joy n best stress relief. My graduate degrees dont matter if I cant sing because singing is how I got thru. I'd pay any dollar to get my voice back!
Exactly!!! I love that you said this! "Talent does not protect your voice from being injured". I was discussing this with someone (about not singing when sick to avoid vocal injury) and they totally blew me off. I guess you and the other several hundred youtubers talking about vocal injury must be wrong, right? Rolling eyes....
When you mentioned about raspy voices, I find that a lot of shows out there, like the voice, promote people with raspy voices. What these singers don't realize that their longevity as a singer is diminished by such a style. I have a difficult voic. Takes a long time for it to warm up. When going to karaoke it can take hours before my voice is able to do what it is capable of doing.
Dont let your pride block u from learning. You don't have anything to prove. Just be wise. Humble yourself & be open to some knowledge that can really help you. Great advice- love it👌💯😎
I am just starting to take singing seriously, and I want to start with a foundation of healthy singing techniques. This seems like just the right channel for that!
I start coughing a bit after or during a high note....I'm gonna start doing vocal warm ups each day. And I sing each day... It's weird and also annoying at times. I love doing high notes because it's about as loud as I'm gonna get and when I'm singing it's like time just stops and I can just be myself while I'm singing. When I sing I don't care what anyone thinks. I broke out singing Lone Ranger and fight song (both by Rachel pkatten) in a mcdonalds and a shoe store...which I've never done before. It was amazing.
Hey, I'm young and have been experiencing a bit of hoarseness ever since I had a very bad sore throat. Its been a week or two and after doing some research, I do feel like I may have that feeling of having a lump in my throat (although it may be paranoia, I can't really tell). And since I'm a singer, whenever I try hitting the higher range of my notes, my voice cracks easily, its harder to do, and doesn't really sound the same anymore which has rarely ever happened (although it might be my imagination). I'm really scared because singing is my passion and I really don't want to find that I have vocal damage, what do I do?
hey uhm im just 14 and i cant really reach the notes that i used to sing before :< i don't know what to do... i asked a vocal teacher and he said that its probably because of puberty... but after watching your video, i realized that i might have damaged my voice :( cuz everytime i sing, i always have to clear my voice and there's a lot of air 😭 im so.confused.
Kylie Tenedero I dont know what Eric would say but do you warm up long enough to not damage them ? although you get through puberty it's even more unsettled and can get damaged easily :/ to my eyes but maybe Eric would tell you more or even tell you to check up your chord folds
This is one of the best videos I have seen explaining this. My throat is really hurting and burning and I don't sing all the time. It even hurts to the touch of my neck area. It makes me not want to sing. It's really frustrating.
Hi Eric, I was about to audition for a rock band this week. My voice got horse or sore a couple of days ago. I was singing a ton from the bands set list. I don’t usually sing that long. I don’t have much vocal training. I know I’m not singing correctly. I can’t last too long before my voice hurts. This time or last night, even though I knew I should’ve not sung, but given my voice a rest, I pushed it a bit. I sounded great, but it hurt a bit. It’s hard for me to just stop singing. I usually don’t go a day without singing all the time. But my voice is still a bit sore. I have a tickle in my throat a bit and sometimes the urge to cough. You are right about pride. I need to not do my audition. I need to let my voice recover and heal. If I do the audition I know I might really hurt my vocal cords. So, hopefully with rest, and not talking much...as it is somewhat uncomfortable to talk too much. It sucks that, I have to tell the band that I should hold off until further notice and when I have gotten some help from the proper vocal coach or doctor. I know that I don’t have very good vocal endurance or good vocal technique. So I absolutely need to make the choice to get the training I need to be able to stop any more damage and sing in a healthy way. This is really in a way, a wake up call. I’m just not sure if it’s advisable to still be in the band, if I’m accepted and start training. Or if should train first and then get in a band. I believed this was time, but my voice health was saying differently. So... pride be gone! Thanks Erik, I was on the brink of making a huge mistake for my vocal health. I just didn’t want to piss off the band members and hurt my chances of doing an audition in the future, if I’m ready. By then, they might get another lead singer.
My voice range decreased back in April, I was at a pep rally and screamed so loud that I lost my voice. Now here it is in September and nothing has changed, it has gotten a little better. Please make a recovery video.
I'm here because I found your videos when looking for exercises because I sing at church & I'm fine all year until we get to practicing the Christmas cantata. Every year once we get to those long practices I'm hoarse by the end of practice. Every few years I have a solo in the cantata & I'm always nervous on top of getting hoarse. After just a week of doing your suggested daily practicing I can already tell a difference in sound & feel like I have a little more vocal strength. It drives the dog crazy, but he'll be fine. lol Thanks so much for explaining your information so well & sharing your knowledge & training with us!
Thank you for this. i think I've damaged my vocal cords. i used to sing constantly everyday and I was fine... But because I loved it, it came easily, and I think I loved it because I was depressed (it was like being a kid putting their fingers in their ears, singing la la la when hearing something they don't like, but blocking out life instead). When I started taking anti depressants I became too content with being quiet and suddenly felt like I forgot how to sing. 2 years later, people are asking me to sing with them and everything that comes out is bad, so I bought an online course hoping I can learn technique, so I don't have to rely on emotions, but after about 7 days of trying to do the exercises right, I've started having a sore throat, and speaking feels like alot of effort. Its actually tiring me out. I still have my voice, and I can still do everything I could do before, but it doesn't feel good. I may well book a lesson. Are there any exercises I can do whilst I feel like this? and how do I avoid more damage whilst working. I work as an online teacher and have to talk all day and it's really tough for me atm.
Glad I stumbled onto this viideo! I haven't had my falsetto in over a year! I sing several nights a week, its how I pay my bills. Hopefully I've done no damage but thanks to you, I am going to make an appointment with a coach tomorrow. One who can advise me . again, thank you!
so it's not because my voice is definitely bad but because my vocal behavior is not right. so much to learn from this video. thanks for the free tutorials☺️
Hi Eric, your videos really are a great help. You're real and honest, which really works for me. I've been having a huge scare the past two months, because (although I'm not hoarse, oddly enough), I suddenly can't hold a clear tone anymore. My voice gets all shaky, making me sound pretty awful. Also it constantly feels as if there's a tight scarf around my throat, which has made me fearful of even swallowing (though there's no pain either). Scary thing is I just turned 17, and I absolutely love to sing, so the thought of me having vocal damage already is really frightening. I'd book an appointment with you though sadly I live on another continent, but if you think I should seek medical help (before it's too late, since I'm still growing getting vocal damage now might be permanent) I definitely will. Or perhaps I'm being paranoid, since there's no hoarseness or pain, but my singing ability has definitely deteriorated.
I choked on cereal and somehow spent 10 minutes coughing uncontrollably. When I finally stopped, I couldn't speak at all. That was a week and a half ago. I lost an entire octave of my range, it made me so sad. I just want to restore my old voice.
This is such a good video. I have been a part of many choirs where they do not cover this properly. Thanks your videos are great. I've been singing primarily classical for years and you have very good knowledge of the voice and the body. I am impressed.
Eric, I need to talk to u about my vocal issue. I am a singer. But taking professional vocal lessons and also singing in the wrong way, has resulted in a vocal tension dysphonia or MTD in my vocal cords.I have actually learned singing for 1 year professionally and phlegm used to get accumulated in my throat each and every time i sang. Neither i understood the sign and nor my coach and now its been three years, i cant sing properly. I feel an extreme tension specially unilateral (right side) which prevents me to talk freely at times. There is no pain and no physical damage except extreme tremor as per the vocal stroboscopy and voice assessment reports. So its been a long time i am struggling with this, i am an Indian, used to do ur lessons ( tongue trills, motorboat, tala, laga etc. :) ) a lot once and took western vocal classes. THANK YOU FOR THIS AWESOME TIPS AND IF U DO HAVE A SOLUTION OR RECOMMEND ME SOMETHING TO DO, IT WILL BE HELPFUL. I am 22 years old and started learning to sing after 18.
Thank you much for this video. I really love to sing and I hope to someday be able to persue a vocal career (I'm only 15 now, so who knows), but I don't take any singing classes, because one, I can't really afford them, and two, because there aren't any proffesional vocal teachers in my neighborhood (that I know of). I sing everyday, I get a painfull throat a lot and I can't belt really well, but I still really love to do it. I recently found out that I can do whistle notes and my friend warned me about the dangers of singing them without a vocal coach, so I got really worried about ruining my voice permanently. This video (and a lot of your other videos) really helped me and taught me a lot about singing I didn't know, and gave me more confidence in my voice. So I'm really glad you take the time to make (or took the time, I don't know if you still make them) these video's. They're really fun to watch too! So I just want to thank you for making these videos and helping me out.
I am a professionalsinger and music teacher. For years I noticed a slow decline in my vocal ability due to over use in the classroom and abuse on the stage during performing....... it was very ALARMING!. One time my voice just totally VACATED during a performance!!! I had to fight back the tears because I thought me career was over!! I realized I needed to stop some bad habits ....been coughing for over four years...I use to have a five octave range...I lost my edge and have holes in my scales...it hurts when I sing sometimes . 1. I went to an ENT 2. I stopped exposing my head and neck to cold 3. I gave up coffee pop and alcohol ( and accasional cannibus smoking) 4 I am doing a green smoothie cleanse to get my body akaline 5 I'm doing yoga..and RESTING MY VOICE 6.and now I'm seeing a vocal therapist........ this video is really helpful and encouraging! I'm on my way to to full recovery. I hope the best for all you singers and speakers out there.
Hi my name is Nkenglefac Moses from Cameroon, Africa and im am first of all honored to write to you and appreciate the time, patientce and efforts you take to teach us musical wisdom. I have alot to learn and im eager to understand your concepts as to what pertains music. I have been following your teachings and must admit they are reforming and overwhelmingly phenomenal and i have experienced change in my vocal capabilities. But there is this wall i cant seem to climb and its "stage fright". After a series of performances in weddings, musical competitions and shows i sat down and know within me that i could do more and better than what everybody was applauding to, creating in me this paranoia which psychs me out. i consulted a series of pple about it and 7/10 say its a case of stage fright. Sir, i was wondering if there is any series on how to conquer this abnormality so i can see whats behind this wall once im on the other side.
My vocal chords r on fire. I’m cracking all over. I went to my coach and he pushed me . I think I’m quitting for a while . Just warm ups . I can’t even talk
When I sing, nothing hurts me, but somehow I cannot reach low and high notes as I used to do before (My vocal range is still the same but I have to struggle a bit to reach it, while before I did that without any problem). I'm always trying to clear my throat but somehow I can't (I really don't know how to explain this). Something happened to my throat or to my voice?
I’ve hindered my abilities quit a bit from vaping. I’ve quit now but I’m honestly very scared. Seeing an ENT in 2 days and doing what I can at home. For others going through this, you are not alone. Singing is so much about our mindset, it’ll be okay.
Thankyou. This is great, and has been very helpful. Damaged my voice recently, helping students to sing at a concert, and have been resting it as much as possible. Although, being a teacher means that I am only just out of the classroom for the summer, and have been talking constantly for the last few weeks! I haven't sung though, which is frustrating, but now I feel ready to build up. I will use your techniques, thankyou.
thank you so much for this lesson. you're a blessing. I'm leading the church worship 3 to 4 Sundays every month for couple of years and I know my voice starts to crack instead of getting better. I know something wrong about my way of singing. thanks for your awesome advise. I want to keep my voice to praise God.
Hey...I really appreciate the time and effort you put intohelping others with their voices and careers...This is the first time I've seen your videos and this is the fourth one i have seen today. I have subscribed..I'm going to continue watching your videos and believing in you because just from a couple of videos of yours I have noticed a positive change in my voice's strength and power of singing without straining..thanks so much for what you do. God Bless you and continue helping you help others andmake or keep you successful and happy. If I were where you are and I could, it would have been great to meet and work with you personally. I give u a 10/10 on personality, knowledge, understanding and friendliness. :)
Ive had a gap in my voice for around a year people have said its puberty but I KNOW its vocal damage, i'm 14 so people assume puberty right away but this video really helps me prove that its not. I used to be able to sing like glass shattering high with ease and perfectly but now when I try to sing in my head voice all that comes out is hoarse air and it hurts when I sing or even talk sometimes. Im afraid I might have permanently damaged my voice as for a YEAR it has been like this and its getting worse. I am going to schedule a doctors appointment immediately because I don't want to lose my voice and I really want to pursue a career in music because music and singing is everything to me I don't know what I would do If I couldn't sing like I used
I have a paralyzed vocal cord as a result of cervical spine surgery. It’s been a year since surgery so it may be permanent. I’ve learned to talk again and am trying to sing again. I’m working with a voice therapist but finding your videos helpful. I pray and work at practicing. It appears my pitch is off at this point. Do you teach pitch practice?
pianissimo & gentle sirens / humming really helped me with this... to be able to go high & low... back & forth without pushing. sometimes tension creeps in.. but being aware..and not writing it off is best.
I've had a little bit 'raspy' sound since I was little, because I think I'm allergic to dust? I have slime going down my throat no matter if I'm singing or not. It's something that even doctors havent found out how to fix. Singing doesn't hurt (or if it does, I usually stop or change something) but I'm concerned that could this slimy thing damage my voice some day? I don't sound raspy when I'm singing loud, or if I add chest to my singing
I damaged my vocal chords teaching English in Vietnam where I now live. Suspecting nodules, I saw an ENT here, but he said he didn't see anything, though he was unable to get a clear picture of my vocal chords. It is easy to buy your way into a degree in the city I live in, so my faith in doctors here is quite low. I've tried looking for a speech therapist in Hanoi, which is 2-3 hours from my city, but they all seem to focus on therapy for children with common speech issues or autism. The time zone difference and my teaching schedule makes it difficult to do skype sessions, but I'd be willing to try. I'm also not sure how effective skype lessons would be. So far I have cut my teaching hours, stopped teaching the kinds of classes that stress my voice out the most, and changed my teaching methods so I use my voice less. I have seen significant improvement in the quality of my voice, but my singing voice is basically non-existent now. I know I will have to do singing exercises to rebuild my muscles, but I still feel as though I am not speaking correctly to prevent damage completely. What would you recommend for someone with limited access to resources?
I'm so glad I'm not crazy. I've noticed this! So much! I'm making an appointment with a vocal coach for in a few days and not singing again until i have someone who knows what they're doing tell me where I'm going wrong! thank you so much!
when i was younger i had a great singing voice i grew up unhealthy habits junk food and damaged my vocals i became healthier and still trying to recover
"Don't be afraid to be open to the possibility that you might have some habits that are really, really wrong" I know you meant singing but that's a whole life philosophy too lol thanks ✨
Fantastic commen sense tactics to identify and work through vocal cord issues. Thank you for sharing your passion to help. I've been 2 months of hoarseness, losing voice, lump in throat, feels so tight too. Been taking smbicort. I've had years where at least twice a year I'll loose my voice. Wheat her changes, pollen in spring, rag week in the fall. I'm starting to think that I've now got mold allergies. Constant lump in the through. Feels right like some one has put their hand around my neck and squeezed my like crazy. Can speak in a tighter range when it happened. I'd be hoarse and yet still be able o hold notes, stay relatively on pitch. But the minute I'd be asks to talk about a phrasing or the tablature. Had a pulmonary function done as well as an x-ray of my chest. Thought I could take the acid refuser option. Unfortunately, I would only benefit from having an entire set of vocal training sorry this is so wordy. Please feel free to offer any advice you had seen along your journey
Lot of excellent notes, advises on taking care of the vocal chords! Thanks Eric for bringing this up, although I do sing fairly OK, but I have been facing lot of vocal issues lately and trying to figure what all it could be. Thanks again for this video; helped understand a lot.
This guy is answered prayers I am in now way a vocalist. But i do alot if MC gigs for weddings quinceñeras BD parties grad parties etc I will start I haven't been able to do what I do for a month I have gotten through my gig just having fun but my voice is not been to where it's been effective thank you thank you thank you
Fun thing to try: 8oz of warm water, 1 TBSP of Honey, 1 Tsp of Cinnamon.
Whenever I get a sore throat after late night karaoke, I make this little drink and its gone within 20 minutes. Just a fun thing to use.
do u mis them together
Thank You 💖♥️🙌🏿
honestly bless you
So so we drink it? How many times do we drink this? Twice a day?
I've been having these symptoms for about a year now. but I'm just now realizing what's going on. my voice is my life. I'm very scared. life isn't worth living without my voice. I'm definitely going to look into getting help. Thank you so much.

you are the reason i have gotten my voice back!!!!! I have applied all of your techniques to my singing. I lost my voice really bad due to bad technique and i listened to all of your videos, and i now am regaining my voice. What does it mean if you go to hit a note that you used to be able to hit, and your voice just goes to air(no voice or high pitch)? is there a way to regain that range?
yeah id like to to know that too
I have the same problem:(
JunYa Bibbs it's been a year lol have u fixed your issue?
pls tell
i want same to happen to me
Step One was literally the most important thing I've ever heard.
I signed up for a live vocal instructor after watching this. Thanks for helping me overcome my own ego! haha

+EricArceneaux Okay, I have vocal damage. and I need to do something about it. Singing is all i have. It's what makes me, me. I'm freaking out :(((
Hi I love to sing but I really want a voice coach! I know u have a website but have you ever find any one on one sessions? Only if u don't mind me asking.
EricArceneaux I would have a lesson with you but I am 12 with a dream and broke😭
EricArceneaux
EricArceneaux I would have a lesson with you but I'm 13 and have no where near 100 dollars🙁
Ya, I've been resting my voice for awhile now. I'm sure I'll be to a doctor within the next month or so :)
7Annamallover7 okay cuz I hope you haven't done any damage too your vocal range or any other stuff....just hope its minor stuff
me too! I'll find out after my whole health thing is all figured out, I'll be going in right away when that happens. I really appreciate you caring about a complete stranger :)
7Annamallover7 haha.. you welcome
literally crying. I feel like i wot make recovery.. i hope this will work. if i don't sing i don't have anything. its been since like april and its about to be august.
Felicia DeRosa did u recover?
Update??
I know how you feel. It's like singing is like breathing to us right?-
Felicia DeRosa did your voice recover?
Felicia DeRosa Anything new?
great advice. notes: don't push the voice. hoarseness is a sign of bad technique.
Or yelling it happend to me I did vocal rest no talking or singing for 5 days now it's back remember to take vocal rest days
When he said “tip number one: get over yourself; it was so unexpected to me i laughed so hard
you're an inspiration. I've gone back to singing and I feel more like myself than ever before. Stay awesome
"I'm 75 years old" lol!
I am a former recording artist, performer and singer and I am also a vocal coach, I just found your videos and I love your way of teaching and humor!
Such a coincedence, I am having some issues and suddenly this vid shows up
This is the first time that I've actually taken my voice seriously in my life to the point of looking for expert advice.
My voice is damaged too, from yelling/screaming. 😢
"Pride comes before the fall" ;-)
I wish I could like this 1000 times! What you are doing is awesome. Thank you!!
Hey Eric, thanks for your tips! I'm not a singer (although it would be really interesting to try it out)
Im a dancer and your tips are really helpful cause they range out in so many directions.
I'll be quoting you...."Don't let your pride block you off from knowledge." Love this....AND love your spirit and devotion.
"Don't let your pride block you off from knowledge."
There are some sparkling gems in every one of these. Like a Zen koan.
Getting over your voice & always being aware you may be messing up at any point.. is how you grow
I know I’ve been doing it wrong for 20 years and now I’ve lost my voice and have a tour coming up. Your videos have helped me so much. Thank you. 🙏🙏🙏
I've been watching your videos for several months. I practice everyday. I don't have much money or opportunity to take lessons. Your videos have helped me tremendously. You're an excellent teacher. And I really appreciate it.
Literally love your videos I’m going to American idol this weekend and my voice has increased insanely! I will forever follow your videos!
+EricArceneaux yeah i have acid reflux thats probobly why
I appreciate this response it has really helped me too
Same situation. Now I lost my mixed voice and my low falsetto.
Yes, watching this in 2021 - my very very experienced music teacher/mentor always says, you can never stop learning when it comes to music. Eric, you know what you talking about. Thank you for the tips
I thought i was done for but thank you for helping me. My voice sounded bad for almost 3 months but doing your vocal exercises really helped me.
I'm a soprano I haven't been able to hit them high notes in a lo g time makes me so sad. You gave the best advice I found on here!👍😊
Thank you so much!
THANKS FOR THE TIPS
Dude I've been looking all over for you lol
found you lol

I'm really scared because singing is my passion and I really don't want to find that I have vocal damage, what do I do?
hey uhm im just 14 and i cant really reach the notes that i used to sing before :< i don't know what to do...
i asked a vocal teacher and he said that its probably because of puberty...
but after watching your video, i realized that i might have damaged my voice :(
cuz everytime i sing, i always have to clear my voice and there's a lot of air 😭 im so.confused.
Kylie Tenedero the same thing is going on with me and I don't know what to do😭
Kylie Tenedero I dont know what Eric would say but do you warm up long enough to not damage them ? although you get through puberty it's even more unsettled and can get damaged easily :/ to my eyes but maybe Eric would tell you more or even tell you to check up your chord folds
Same bro
same
SAME!! But I'm 15
Your definitely my favorite singing coach on UA-cam
Great video on Humility...and singing, too.
It drives the dog crazy, but he'll be fine. lol Thanks so much for explaining your information so well & sharing your knowledge & training with us!
thanks
I work as an online teacher and have to talk all day and it's really tough for me atm.
is it possible to over work your voice with vocal excersies ?
Glad I stumbled onto this viideo! I haven't had my falsetto in over a year! I sing several nights a week, its how I pay my bills. Hopefully I've done no damage but thanks to you, I am going to make an appointment with a coach tomorrow. One who can advise me . again, thank you!
so it's not because my voice is definitely bad but because my vocal behavior is not right. so much to learn from this video. thanks for the free tutorials☺️
Eric, so awesome. I am thankful I found you on UA-cam.
1. I went to an ENT
2. I stopped exposing my head and neck to cold
3. I gave up coffee pop and alcohol ( and accasional cannibus smoking)
4 I am doing a green smoothie cleanse to get my body akaline
5 I'm doing yoga..and RESTING MY VOICE
6.and now I'm seeing a vocal therapist........ this video is really helpful and encouraging! I'm on my way to to full recovery. I hope the best for all you singers and speakers out there.
Love seeing my Latino brothers doing positive things, keep it up man!
Thank you from Nashville TN. Great videos and lifelong lessons for singing. 🙏🙏
I know i am singing wrong. My voice always hurts when I sing, and I don't know what to do.
thank you so much for this lesson. you're a blessing. I'm leading the church worship 3 to 4 Sundays every month for couple of years and I know my voice starts to crack instead of getting better. I know something wrong about my way of singing. thanks for your awesome advise. I want to keep my voice to praise God.
Thank you, Eric. We really need to "keep it rookie", we're never too qualified or too skilled.
Do you teach pitch practice?
pianissimo & gentle sirens / humming really helped me with this...
to be able to go high & low...
back & forth without pushing.
sometimes tension creeps in.. but being aware..and not writing it off is best.
so happy to have found you! Reall appreciate your wisdom!
I was shook when you said you was 75. So glad you was playing cause I wouldn't know how to process 😂😂🖤
great job Eric, always appreciate your genuinity
bro I usto be able to sing real good hit high notes and out of nowhere I just couldn't anymore it feels as if my voice just gives what should I do?
I've had a little bit 'raspy' sound since I was little, because I think I'm allergic to dust? I have slime going down my throat no matter if I'm singing or not. It's something that even doctors havent found out how to fix.
Singing doesn't hurt (or if it does, I usually stop or change something) but I'm concerned that could this slimy thing damage my voice some day? I don't sound raspy when I'm singing loud, or if I add chest to my singing
gunsanddouche I have the same issue and it's been that way since I was little as well, I'm curious about it as well
I damaged my vocal chords teaching English in Vietnam where I now live.
I feel like I have no vocal range! It’s really frustrating. I need to find someone to personally train me how to use my vocal cords properly
I can't remember singing and talking not hurting. There's almost never not some pain or discomfort. Edge is something my voice rarely has.
when i was younger i had a great singing voice i grew up unhealthy habits junk food and damaged my vocals i became healthier and still trying to recover
"Don't be afraid to be open to the possibility that you might have some habits that are really, really wrong" I know you meant singing but that's a whole life philosophy too lol thanks ✨
hmm...this is the single best video on the voice I've experienced so far.
3:27 That statement is SO REAL on many different levels.
I totally have vocal damage
Lot of excellent notes, advises on taking care of the vocal chords! Thanks Eric for bringing this up, although I do sing fairly OK, but I have been facing lot of vocal issues lately and trying to figure what all it could be. Thanks again for this video; helped understand a lot.
