Never considered myself to be a bayonet collector but I have always loved the rifles that carried them. Well, over the years I realized the rifles look somewhat naked without the bayonet issued with them so, I started looking for bayonets at gun shows and pawn shops. Now, having collected some nice bayonets I guess I should now consider myself a bayonet collector because they really are quite cool. Interesting how bayonet prices have climbed in just the past 2 or 3 years. Gone are the days of $15 to $25 bayonets; wish I had started collecting them sooner.
There’s one bayonet that you are forgetting about the is the pattern 1907 bayonet for the Lanchester sub machine gun which I was lucky enough to find they are marked with S 294 that’s how one recognizes them
For a big encyclopedic bayonet book, I prefer Kiesling's 'Bayonets of the World' over Janzen. Kiesling's book is better organized with less mistakes. He cites a lot of Janzen's info too. Also since it's related, 'The U.S. Enfield Bayonet' by Dan Morrison. Loved the presentation, as always. More bayonet videos please!
I have an RFI MK3 bayonet looks almost exactly like the 1st one on the video.. it has Ashoka Pillar stamped on it with leather sheath it’s a 21cm blade and 41cms in total length.. I would really like to know what it’s worth in today’s market
i have a really rare desirable early 1907 with quillon that u mention early in this video 11/09 first year of production let me know if your interested i will sell it.
I keep telling myself "I'm not a bayonet collector" after starting out same as you. Thanks for the video, picked up a copy of this book.
The last bayonet,SLR bayonet was used up till the mid 80s until the SA80 came into service. Then a new bayonet for the sa,80 was issued.
Good video!!!
Thank you, have seen the sword type, no 5 knife bayonets in local museum. Good job.

Good summary, but it's "quillon", not "quillion".
