This video is great. Thank you so much. I did this job in less than 10 mins!! Couple of tips: If you put the windscreen in approximately the half way up/down position you can just thread the cable out of the fairing without needing to unscrew anything. 2. If you rotate the cradle on the bar about 90 degrees it’s much easier to take out the 4 screws and catch them in your hand. Great video! Thank you!
I think the 'Dummy' is a splitter, for a USB socket. Just a wild guess. Also I think you was able to use the "dummy' connector's cover to cover the loos cable connector instead of the tape.
Great video. I need to remove my cradle and thought it was going to be more complicated. Good to see that it’s pretty easy before I start installing my Chigee Apple car play unit. Thanks
Just bought my 2023 GSA last week. I’m going to remove the NAV cradle over the weekend. The BMW aftermarket cradle that costs $260 does not fit my iPhone 14 Max. The 3 cameras on the iPhone stick out too far to fully seat within the cradle, so off it comes. Ordered the Wunderlich cross mount with the NAV adapter. I will attach my Zumo to that. My cell is attached to the bar via the Quad Lock mount.
Thanks for the video! It helped a lot! But I have a question and I need your help, please: after removing the "cradle" cable connected to the motorcycle, Did you have any message on your TFT dashboard or not? I mean, an error message or something like that! Did you have any problems after removing it?
I have sold my RT and want to move my Navigator 6 to my new bike, a 2023 Yamaha Super Tenere 1200. If you're not using your Nav cradle and want to offload it, I'd be happy to buy it off of you. :)
@@bmwgsadventurerider Thanks, I was told by my local BMW bike dealer that the Navigator 6 would not work on my Yamaha due to canbus and the Nav6 would not get the right power so I ended up buying an Zumo XT instead. The zumo is awesome. Let me know if you want to buy a Navigator 6 for a great price. :)
Asked BMW dealership to remove the factory bracket on R1250r, they left it with a proper blanking plug to seal it. Bought their special plug and wires to fit for around £9 to bring 12 volts out. Added a Yamaha dual USB output socket so now can feed mobile for nav and ride camera, use Google maps.
Hello. I want to mount this cradle on my c400x. But I have a question. Does the key cylinder only works with the motorcycle key or does it fit any key? Also what does it lock?
Yes, the cradle comes keyed to the bike. I'm pretty sure it could be re-keyed but haven't tried. When the locked is locked it prevents the slide release mechanism from releasing the Garmin GPS.
I have the 2022 850GS, where this connector is stuck to the frame or frame shroud. I gave it a nudge or two, but it's not releasing the connector and since it is so tight over there. I am unable to see the push to release clip. Any ideas? Other than to remove the front fairing?
Did you consider purchasing the BMW Connected Ride adapter for your phone - which allows you to use the existing NAV cradle? What is your opinion of this device?
Have investigated the connectedride cradle and 1) too expensive and 2) does not go with my phone in the phone case. Thickness of your phone is limited i think to 8.8mm. So I went with sp connect scooter mount which works flawless.

Original gps device can do much more than display maps. Mostly you have lifetime map update, can plan routes on computer, use GPX tracks or custom made maps, and much more. And for that cradle you can mount also more devices (ie. apple car play/android auto display, phone holder etc.)
STupid location, most hate it and buy another setup for above the TFT or just a phone cradle i guess, I got the f750 , getting bar risers and will remove this thing too

Thank you, this is the first video I've seen that shows how to remove the dust cover. I've had the bike 6 months and didn't know how to remove it.

Appreciate that. Going to replace my BMW Nav 5 with Galaxy tablet.
Thank you very much.
I was worried about the double plug, but thanks to your video I'm not afraid anymore.

Glad to hear this help! Thanks!

Thanks for this video. Your approach worked like a charm on my F750GS.
Very cool video .... I'm putting my quad lock in it place as it has map's and other stuff
Thanks! Yup, that's a great place to put it.
Thanks for the help, just wish I'd watched before I removed all my side panels off 😂
Thanks for the video!
Do you know what that white connection is called? I want to connect something else to it.

No, I'm not familiar with the 850. May a small screw driver to give a little more prying force to the connector. Good luck!
Push the whole connector (white and black part) to the left until it clicks out of place. Uncouple white and black.

I did think about that but I installed the Garmin Zumo XT there. Works great!
My bmw connected ride cradle failed.

Is that type o plug available so I can connect other GPS on the factory wiring just like that?

Thank you…
Why remove the cradle. If is great for mounting a nav or phone or CarPlay device.
Without screwing around with wiring
Is there anything else that can be connected in that thing? Who the heck uses a single use gps screen? It’s not 1999

But on 2022 F 850 GSA the cable from the cradle routes up under and into the TFT display. Not straighforward.
Great feedback, thanks!
Nooo you joking? Was debating to do this on my 850GSA.
Hi, Do you intend to sell the cradle, I may be interested
Thank you bro!

I've since put a Garmin Zumo XT there.
I think about removing that thing daily. Its ugly, and useless.
lol. Yup, that's what lead me to taking it off.
@@BikesCameraAdventure I removed it yesterday, 10 minutes, including taping the plug on the bike. Ordered QuadLock last night.
