Or maybe I should say, I preferred her more since they're really about the same in terms of technique/ability. I am so happy to see so many commenting on Sunny's voice and vocals. I always have been into Sunny, she is my ultimate bias since I first got into K-Pop. She always was a good vocalist but rarely had the chance to show it, what with the way she is kinda pushed to sing in a cute way. I know there is no way to say for sure it is the case but I think she was. You can for example check out her featuring Miryo's song called "I Love You" to notice how is her "normal" singing tone, and not the cutesy one. She has a deep voice, which is very unique to me.
Sunny's voice has always been good and clear to me. But since Jess, Tiff, and Tae can give out more powerful notes, her spot got pushed behind. Now she can shine!
My very first reaction the day the video dropped was loving getting to see and hear Hyoyeon and Sunny so much more than in any previous comeback. I started listening to kpop just after Gee came out, and that was the song that hinted to me that there might be way more to explore in kpop than I would have guessed, so I have a real soft spot for SNSD and was so nervous for them to come back as 5. But they killed it! And as this video showed, there are even benefits to being just 5: more lines and more screentime for Sunny and Hyoyeon to show how incredible they are. Love it.
