His drummer, Ronnie Tutt is the reason I ever picked up drumsticks as a 10 year old back in the late 70s, (as you can see from my covers of him on my own UA-cam channel). He has stated in many interviews (as well as emails with me) that that visual connection and watching Elvis and staying locked on him is what got him the job in the first place. He even went so far as to study karate to be able to learn how to anticipate where Elvis might go next with a move. Elvis fed off the band's energy, but he also directed it with his whole body. Nobody does that anymore. It was like a whiplash shock wave that started with Elvis, entered the band through Tutt, spread throughout the band, focused back into Tutt, then back into Elvis and out to the audience in a split second. As a drummer, it's the perfect gig. Had to be awesome to be on that drum throne.

He was so great. I wish he had sung the songs from this period. The songs off The Elvis : That's The Way It soundtrack album were so great. After these shows In 1970, he should have done like this, I've lost you, I just can't help believing, how the web was woven, stranger in the crowd, twenty days and twenty nights, art in the morning, the next step is love, etc. He did do Until it's time for you to go a few more times thru the 70s. That was really the only one he kept doing from this album. I loved your reaction Dani. I might have already commented, but I don't care. I love it and love you so much Dani for being who you are.

Hi Dani. First of all congrats on reaching the 4000 mark. Awesome!
Your comment on the rapport and connection between Elvis and drummer, Ronnie Tutt. In an interview Ronnie said that one thing that helped him land the gig was that he paid close attention to Elvis's moves during the audition and followed him accordingly. I think the entire groups eyes were probably riveted on Elvis throughout the performances. Thanks for another great reaction.

Hy Dani, good to see you and
    hope you are well! ☀️
Sadly that this isn't the original video, the other one is even more energetic! ⚡⚡⚡
Yes, can you imagine that! 😆
But it's Elvis, the bundle of energy set to music!!!
(Note from the Reverend of the church, were Elvis was in the choir when he was a child)
You are absolutly right, everybody on the stage is so deeply connected. You can literally see this "something" between them!
Especially his connection to Ronnie Tutt, the drummer!
And the fun they all obviously have is transverred to the audience.
On the other video you can see
the audience and the fun they
    have very well!
The scene with the two mics is a cut out from the beginning of the "Love Me Tender" video. Not the 'kissing all women' video, another one.
It's on the TTWII video, but you can surely find it here on YT.
So funny , it's typical Elvis how he reacts because the mic didn't work!
Thank you Dani for picking this one. We all need our 'laugh portion' these days!
A lot of hugs to you nd stay safe! 🍀
Btw. after watching this video, i always have 3 pulses! 💓💓💓

if you notice Elvis spends most of his time in live shows standing in front of the drummer that was according to the drummer Ronnie Tutt '' Elvis would stand there so he could feel the drums & I’ve always said it was like working for a stripper in the old days of vaudeville,” Tutt says. “

Another wonderful video Dani - thank you. I always look forward to them.
This was the final song to be recorded during the 'Nashville Marathon' and on the final day of 8 June 1970 in RCA's Studio B was. It was however this live version which was released on the TTWII album with the studio master mothballed for release at a later date firstly as a single release.
It was this, the second and final live version that appeared in the original TTWII in 1970 from the 12 August Dinner show but has had the second verse edited out and even when included in ther 2001 re-edited version of TTWII still found itself heavily edited although the second verse was re-instated.
You can see Elvis appears to be having lots of fun with it and the audience reception seems favourable. Patch It Up was to replace Suspicious Minds for the duration of this season but Elvis was not happy with the way it came across, so Elvis reinstated Suspicious Minds after opening night and this second live version would also be it's final rendition.

Another great song and fabulous reaction! I’m reading one of the best books I’ve ever read and I think you will love it. It’s Elvis Presley, A Life In Music. The Complete Recording Sessions by Ernst Jorgensen, Forward by Peter Guralnick. Ernst worked for RCA, and dug through the basement finding all the original recordings of almost all Elvis’s sessions, even some home sessions, not done through RCA. For nearly a decade he has been the one who has put out all the box sets he coproduced for RCA. Look him up. I’ve had the book for several years, but thought it would be dry, more of a reference book, and didn’t read it. I’m so glad I finally have. Yes it goes through each recording session, gives each song which was recorded, which take was used, where the session was, what album or 45 it was on, all the musicians and singers, as well as times and dates. However for each one, he goes into depth talking about how the records which were being considered got to the recording session, and where there were problems. This is a huge part of Elvis’s world. I won’t go into it, but you should know how limited he was on the songs he was able to record, the movie sound tracks. He talks about society and where music figures in to society at different times, just so much fabulous information, all the people involved. How Elvis recorded, which early on, no one did it like he did. I ordered it from Amazon, buy fast, hardback or paperback used. Try other places too. Looks like this might be one of those they sell out of, then you have to pay a lot to get one. Looking forward to your next reaction. Look at Elvis is Back. That’s the first album he recorded when he returned from the Army. One of his best albums. “It’s Now or Never” and “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” Were two big hits.

This recording is from the studio. The video is from a live recording. That is why the lips don't synch up. :)

"Elvis Presley Live in Tupelo 1956" shows Elvis performing up close in daylight. (The entire footage from Tupelo 1956 is about 27 minutes in total. He returned to Tupelo in 1957 and performed in his gold lame jacket.).

His drummer Ronnie Tutt said that in the last years leading up to Elvis death he would beat himself and the drums to death trying to motivate Elvis on stage to the point that he needed help getting off stage himself

As usual I love your reviews. It's always so fun coming to your UA-cam channel. I have a request. Could you please review Elvis's song called, Clean Up Your Own Backyard. It is the performance from his movie The Trouble With Girls. Thanks.
