The Bible does not look down upon anyone coming to the Lord, what drives or drove people to the Lord is of minor importance, we cannot ridicule those who got terrified about the judgement of God and became Christians. The reason is simple, judgement of God is real or hell. So if it drives you to accept Christ, fine and good. These entertainers using scripture will mislead many. GOD must be feared.
Too much knowledge can really be dangerous
It is very wrong and unbiblical to depict God as only the merciful and forgiving God. Is He not the same God who destroyed mankind with the flood? Is He not the same God who opened the earth and Korah and his followers got swallowed. Is He not the same God who sent fire from heaven to destroy the sons of Aaron who had used strange fires for the burnt offering? God is also the God of justice.
