@@Franchyze923 thank you very much for your response. First i need to figure out to make ram-upgrade and HDD upgrade, comes only with 4 x 80gb hdd for it, and 12 gb ram.
Hi, I was running Unraid but I am now going to give Proxmox a go. You mentioned using the idrac, any chance of a quick video on how you set that up please, i have read a few guides but with java being depreciated i could not get it running. Cheers, new subscriber :-)
Hey - I actually made a video about getting iDRAC to work a few months ago. Check this out. If this doesnt help let me know ua-cam.com/video/OSsuqMSBnwQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Franchyze923
@@Franchyze923 Thanks, I did have a quick scan but missed that. Its similar instructions to what I have seen before thanks, it does work but its a messy hack but I suppose Dell are not going to do anything to support 10+ year old hardware :-(
Wouldn't RAID 6 be better than 10? Since with 10, if the wrong 2 drives fail, you loose all data. In RAID 6, any 2 drives can die without loss of data. It's unfortunate that the RAID controller doesn't support 5 or 6.
are you talking about two ethernet cords plugged into the back? If so, yes the one is dedicated for Idrac and the other one gets used by all of the VM's inside of ProxMox.
I installed Proxmox on the SAS drives RAID array. I passed the other drives following these instructions (I think). Also, watch my other video ua-cam.com/video/XAejQRE8ZTw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Franchyze923 johnkeen.tech/proxmox-physical-disk-to-vm-only-2-commands/
Thanks for the video for this specific server. I get tomorrow my server, the first I ever had. Hope with your tutorial will make it work.
Good luck! It’s a fun hobby

Would be much appreciated, I am looking for it
Thanks a lot in advance.

@@shaunwhiteley3544 yea exactly I think hacks are all we have at this point. Don’t think there is any hope to get official support

I'm not exactly sure but I think I've read that RAID 10 has much better performance compared to RAID 6.
I see you have two cable, one for iDRAC and one for the first pass thought or is it to access Proxmox interface ? so do I need two LAN lines

@@Franchyze923 Thanks , I saw the travel router, good ideal
I noticed your memory is running at 800MHz, in BIOS, power management, memory power to performance will change that to 1333MHz :-)
Cool! Did not know that. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot
I have the same server and installing proxmox - how did you get sas and sata drives on their?

7:20 ish, i disabled memory checking in the bios to speed up boot time :-)
Thanks! Good to know.
Where is this firmware?
Link to the firmware update?
drive.google.com/file/d/1pNOo7OgDThLxAcLSpvuawJDdZxHJ-N-4/view
That will not get you much with your config.
Can you explain? Can something be tweaked to improve performance?
