As a Canadian, I thought the game went exactly as well as I had expected and I think the Canadian team under a brand new coach has lots to look upon and learn. Good thing too, as we go up against France on Sunday and Argentina, Chile, and Peru this month!
The Dutch are incredibly good footballers. Congrats and good luck this year!
Was impressed with Ryan Gravenberch and Micky Van De Ven
Good win, Frimpong was amazing! Van de Ven played well, especially in the first half, Schouten, Depay and Geertruida were also good. Wijnaldum was really bad so I hope Koeman subs him out for Koopmeiners and doesn't play him anymore. Blind was okay but mostly because you can hide his weakness when he plays as a CB but we simply have better CB's than him with Van Dijk, Aké, Van de Ven, De Ligt, De Vrij and Geertruida. But I am pleasently surprised. Decent win, good for the feeling and believe and hopefully Koeman plays more of Frimpong, Geertruida and Van de Ven in either a formation with 2 or 3 CBs.
I feel like this formation could be used throughout the entire tournament. Just depending on the opponent and situation Frimpong will do more or less defending.

Better not see Wijnaldum or Blind in the next Friendly. Too slow. Blind is still great standing over a dead ball... but we have better options and we need these guys to start playing together.
LCB is the only place you could hide blind.. Vs Top opponent blind will be a target for them.. Maatsen on left would have been electric with van de ven as LCB... Thats the way we should be playing
I thought Van De Ven played great on at left back. Do you think he should play in that position in a 4-3-3 over Ake?
I would say Aké is still first choice, but van de Ven as back-up just shows our excellent depth
Koeman said that Gravenberch and Schouten where playing on 1 line and to far back so Wijnaldum couldn't come in play creating the triangle if one of them played higher up the field. Clearly the midfield missed dynamics and automatisms.
Defenitely some truth there, I just think koeman didn't want to call wijnaldum out and made this somewhat valid excuse to protect him.
@@zantesuken14 that's also true especially in coaching Wijnaldum should have been more permanent and even switch position on 10 with Gravenberch and Schouten. So in position and systematically Schouten and Gravenberch can make football more easy if they create an attacking triangle where Wijnaldum is pushed in a nr.10 position with support of 1 of the 2 then you can crete a triangle or diamond shape with Depay and Frimpong that's how Cruijff would make it easy to play. If the 2 stay stagnant on 1 line youre easy to over run and you will lack forward pressure. So will this be different with Veerman or de Jong I think so with their in-dribble which would crete space for the nr. Ten.
Why is Alphonso Davies playing as a defender?
He is their most dangerous, talented, fastest, dribbler, creator, and respected player in their team, why waste all his talent playing him as a defender!
Clueless Canada
There is some debate in Canadian football circles with regards to where to get the most from Davies. Canada really needs help at all positions, but our defense needs the most help.
Davies play LB for Bayern and is considered one of the best in that role, so it's not crazy to put him there when he plays for Canada. Also, Davies has played almost every position for Canada, and it's not as though he consistently does well up top. He just doesn't know those roles as well. Often it goes quite poorly.
Given our weak backline, and this up top inconsistency, would Canada's outcome from this game have been better with Davies up top or would it have been even worse?

@@cre8ivjay Alphonso Davies has play better for Canada as a midfielder, where he gets to touch the ball more and be in the middle of all the action, his best games for Canada has been him playing as an offensive player (midfielder) and not as a defender, the wins against USA and Mexico, even the important victory against Panama where he scored an important goal in an incredible run, he was playing in the midfield as an attacker! So honestly playing him as a defender makes no sense, he is a better attacker than a defender, even with Bayern, where European clubs respect him when he goes up front than his defense. Canada can find better defender (pure defenders) in the left back, than finding a player in the midfield that can create, score and be respected by the opposition.
This may be completely wrong, but our two main left backs (Adekubge and layrea) are out with injury with addition to the new coach wanting to give a chance to millar and Shaffelburg to prove themselves. There is no doubt that Davies plays best for national team as a left attacking mid though
@@calo2006 From what you have seen of the Canadian backline (aside from Davies), do you think the outcome of the game would have been better or worse had Davies played further up the touch? I think it is possible we could have gotten on the scoreboard, but it is possible the Dutch would have scored more than 4 goals. I'm not sure which is the better outcome. It will be interesting to see what Marsch does against France tomorrow!
